My wife and have spent some time on the Gulf Coast and when we saw the Southern Accent truck in Bend, back when they were at Bevel Brewing, we didn't believe a shrimp po' boy in Oregon would be like what we experienced on the coast. Thankfully, we were wrong. We've been enjoying a couple of these excellent sandwiches 5-6 times a year since we discovered them in 2018-19. I never got around to writing a review until now. The photo I've included is from our latest visit in early April and I always order mine without lettuce so your order might look different. But that shouldn't matter as much as the great shrimp that are used to make this fantastic sandwich. The fries can be done with cajun seasoning or salt and the fries. Either are a great option and the ranch they offer is very flavorful. We recommend Southern Accent to anyone who is looking for something good and different for lunch in Bend. That's tough to do in an area where there are so many great options, but they manage to stand out with a quality meal. read more

I make really good Cole slaw - this Cole slaw was the best I've ever had! The fried oysters were bomb! So good and the Cajun fries were stoopid. The 12 wings were 1/2 buffalo and 1/2 Nashville - the sauces were amazing got ranch and blue cheese. I'm in love! My lips are burning - good job southern accent! read more

I was really looking forward to trying out this food cart at Silver Moon due to all the good reviews. Must have come on the wrong day, as the guy running this cart was extremely rude. Not only were our interactions with him short and curt, he completely messed up our orders. If you are out of shrimp, please say that. Don't verbally yell at us and ask, "what do you want?!" Before slamming the window shut in our faces with a sign that you are closed. It's Memorial Day weekend at 3:00pm.. Ordered a Bayou Caesar with fried shrimp and got fried chicken. Not to mention the Caesar dressing was full of horseradish flavor - gross. No jalapeño waffle as promised either. My partner did get the shrimp po boy he ordered, but it came with some mystery elastic pieces (see pic). Very unsatisfied and bummed we picked Southern Accent over other carts. 9th Street Village offers one of the better small food truck pods in the city. Anchored by Bevel Brewing, one of the better brewers in the city despite being a new operation, 9th Street's trucks include Southern Accent, a purveyor of Southern food. I was interested in their Nashville sandwich. And, of course, the beer. I'm a big fan of Bevel's. As you might guess, Nashville chicken hails from Tennessee and is regarded as a gold standard for hot & spicy chicken in the south, including Atlanta where I lived for twenty years. The key aspect of good Nashville chicken is that, of course, it has to be pretty spicy. Not just 'medium Buffalo wing' hot, or Sriracha hot. It needs to challenge your taste buds, see if they can handle it. Bend is not known for spicy food, although it has progressed in the past couple of years and now has at least four trucks that offer hot chicken (Southern Accent, Bluma's, South yo Mouth, The Tin Pig), maybe more. So, the sandwich, ordered with Cajun fries: - A fairly good-sized sandwich that, with fries, should be enough for most folks. They don't skimp on the chicken. - It's spicy but not outrageously so. I'd put it at the lower end of what I'd expect from a Nashville recipe. It's spicier than Bluma's (which is an excellent sandwich); I've not tried South yo Mouth or The Tin Pig. - Very good bun, very well prepared. - My sandwich was stuffed with three rather large, chunky portions of chicken. This may be my only negative: the chicken was so chunky that it really doesn't play well inside a sandwich. I ended up picking out a couple of pieces and eating them separately, which is totally fine because they're exceptionally tasty. - Cajun fries: I expected them to be overly seasoned to the point where I'd only want a few. That's just the way Bend typically does things. Nope, these fries are great. Not only nicely seasoned but well cooked. Prices are reasonable. Service was friendly and quick. Recommended. read more

Excellent Nashville hot chicken sandwich. Both less saucy yet also spicier than Bluma's, which I also like. The chicken itself is cooked perfectly. Not as dark as Bluma's, they obviously filter or change out their oil more frequently. The Cajun fries were spot on, although there were way too many for me. All in all a great lunch along with a Bevel Brewery beer. read more

You want to talk about some authentic killer Cajun food. This is the place to be. The guy who helped us was so friendly and just a chill guy I ordered their Nashville chicken sandwich and let me tell you this sandwhich was spicy as hell however the underlying flavor was phenomenal my boyfriend order their Po boy alligator sandwich and again the flavor was phenomenal not as spice and to top it off with some cajun fries amazing. This is a great food truck. Came for crawfish bites but they didn't have any. The fried chicken strips were perfect and the seasoning on the fries was on point. I tried an alligator bite and I loved it! I hope they get the crawfish back soon so I can try that and the red beans and rice. They definitely know what they're doing and the food pairs well with most of the beers from Bevel. Excited to try the whole menu! read more

Southern Accent is a sinful pleasure. Definitely not health food but so good it's what I crave. We get this when we go to Bevel for they're fantastic outdoor hangout area as we like to spend as much time outdoors as possible until the weather gets too bad. We've had Southern Accent many times with and without friends and everyone has always enjoyed everything they have to offer. They have a limited menu but masterfully prepare every item. We will continue to enjoy SA every time we go to Bevel and they are open. I believe they're currently closed on Sunday and Monday. read more

Wow, that's all I have to say. My parents enjoy the food trucks over in this area and I wanted to give Southern Accent a try, they did not disappoint. I got the Voodoo Bowl and the spice to tang ratio is *chefs kiss* perfection. Red beans and rice was perfect, pork and sausage on point with the nice kick of their voodoo sauce and green chili's topped with slaw was amazing. I need to try everything on this menu!!! 20/10 need it everyday. read more

I'm hoping I hit this on a very off night because I've heard people rave about this place. Got the fried alligator cuz,why not right. I basically just paid 14.00 for a basket of cold soggy fries and about 2 oz of nuggets that taste like corn meal. Definitely underwhelming. I love there tasty southern themed food truck! My favorites are the Nashville hot chicken ( extra hot w/o slaw) and the po boys, soft shell crabs is my choice. Growing up in Tennessee I wondered if I would ever have good fried chicken again. Well there is only one place in Bend I can find it, a food truck outside of Bevel and it is 100% the best chicken in town and on par with the best chicken I've ever had. This is a MUST EAT while in Bend. And with Bevel only steps away, and away from the big crowds of the other places, it's a no brainier. read more

Fantastic! We both had a Shrimp PoBoy- delicious. The voodoo bowl was also so great. We will return. It is one of my favorite food trucks. The only thing that was forgettable were the French fries. They had a Cajun seasoning but I made up a quick dipping sauce at home. read more
