The shrimp po' boy sandwich, minus the lettuce. The fries were seasoned with salt only and a side of ranch.

My wife and have spent some time on the Gulf Coast and when we saw the Southern Accent truck in Bend, back when they were at Bevel Brewing, we didn't believe a shrimp po' boy in Oregon would be like what we experienced on the coast. Thankfully, we were wrong. We've been enjoying a couple of these excellent sandwiches 5-6 times a year since we discovered them in 2018-19. I never got around to writing a review until now. The photo I've included is from our latest visit in early April and I always order mine without lettuce so your order might look different. But that shouldn't matter as much as the great shrimp that are used to make this fantastic sandwich. The fries can be done with cajun seasoning or salt and the fries. Either are a great option and the ranch they offer is very flavorful. We recommend Southern Accent to anyone who is looking for something good and different for lunch in Bend. That's tough to do in an area where there are so many great options, but they manage to stand out with a quality meal.

Weird mystery elastic pieces from our shrimp.

I was really looking forward to trying out this food cart at Silver Moon due to all the good reviews. Must have come on the wrong day, as the guy running this cart was extremely rude. Not only were our interactions with him short and curt, he completely messed up our orders. If you are out of shrimp, please say that. Don't verbally yell at us and ask, "what do you want?!" Before slamming the window shut in our faces with a sign that you are closed. It's Memorial Day weekend at 3:00pm.. Ordered a Bayou Caesar with fried shrimp and got fried chicken. Not to mention the Caesar dressing was full of horseradish flavor - gross. No jalapeño waffle as promised either. My partner did get the shrimp po boy he ordered, but it came with some mystery elastic pieces (see pic). Very unsatisfied and bummed we picked Southern Accent over other carts. I'd recommend skipping unless you like being treated like dirt.

9th Street Village offers one of the better small food truck pods in the city. Anchored by Bevel Brewing, one of the better brewers in the city despite being a new operation, 9th Street's trucks include Southern Accent, a purveyor of Southern food. I was interested in their Nashville sandwich. And, of course, the beer. I'm a big fan of Bevel's. As you might guess, Nashville chicken hails from Tennessee and is regarded as a gold standard for hot & spicy chicken in the south, including Atlanta where I lived for twenty years. The key aspect of good Nashville chicken is that, of course, it has to be pretty spicy. Not just 'medium Buffalo wing' hot, or Sriracha hot. It needs to challenge your taste buds, see if they can handle it. Bend is not known for spicy food, although it has progressed in the past couple of years and now has at least four trucks that offer hot chicken (Southern Accent, Bluma's, South yo Mouth, The Tin Pig), maybe more. So, the sandwich, ordered with Cajun fries: - A fairly good-sized sandwich that, with fries, should be enough for most folks. They don't skimp on the chicken. - It's spicy but not outrageously so. I'd put it at the lower end of what I'd expect from a Nashville recipe. It's spicier than Bluma's (which is an excellent sandwich); I've not tried South yo Mouth or The Tin Pig. - Very good bun, very well prepared. - My sandwich was stuffed with three rather large, chunky portions of chicken. This may be my only negative: the chicken was so chunky that it really doesn't play well inside a sandwich. I ended up picking out a couple of pieces and eating them separately, which is totally fine because they're exceptionally tasty. - Cajun fries: I expected them to be overly seasoned to the point where I'd only want a few. That's just the way Bend typically does things. Nope, these fries are great. Not only nicely seasoned but well cooked. Prices are reasonable. Service was friendly and quick. Recommended.

We started with a beautiful bottle of Domaine Serene 2021 Pinot Noir... smooth, elegant, and the perfect pairing for everything that followed. I started with mussels and clams (seafood will always be my first pick) and scallops for my husband--both were incredible. For the main event, I had the blackened redfish (SO good) which is the best I have had outside of New Orleans and the steak lover went all in on the ribeye... and let's just say there were zero leftovers! Every bite was delicious, the atmosphere was perfect, and the best part? Our server Emily never missed a beat all night! If you're in Bend and looking for a fantastic night out--this is your spot. All the tables were full and it was a Monday night!

The menu isn't very large and I think we both settled on choices quickly, deciding to try the most "quintessential" entrees to share. I chose the Blackened Redfish, and my boyfriend the Jambalaya. Even though we had already decided, the waitress went on her whole spiel through the menu highlights, including what we had already had planned to order. Awkward, but it was fine, and we didn't stray from our original choices. The Blackened Redfish was perfectly cooked and flaky. It was served on a bed of mashed potatoes with a slightly tangy sauce. All of it was tasty, but I was a bit disappointed in the lack of spice to the blackening seasoning and the sauce. Also, serving it on grits instead of mashed potatoes would have made it feel 100% more Cajun, even with lack of seasoning. The Jambalaya fared a bit better, although my boyfriend was also left puzzled by the lack of spice to this classic dish. In all ways it was a very good representation of New Orleans style red jambalaya, with the andouille sausage being particularly notable for flavor. The cornbread it came with was pretty good. We shared a piece of chocolate cake for dessert. A very decadent concoction of chocolate, peanut butter, and caramel. It was one of the better $12 slices of cake I've had. Overall? The service was good, if not a bit awkward with the menu spiel. The food was all very well prepared, but for a Cajun style restaurant they sure could stand to spice things up a bit. It's not cheap, but at least the entrees are a full sized meal and you don't have to order many "tiny plates" to cobble together a dinner.

A great Nashville style fried chicken sandwich is a balance, a harmony between the spice from the cayenne, the acidity from pickles, and a hint of sweetness to round it out. These felt a bit one-dimensional, and the slaw didn't really bring balance to the spice. The sidewinder fries are absolutely S-tier, and I very strongly recommend these if you are here. Overall, not bad given the alternatives in Bend, but fairly average compared to the fried chicken wars in the rest of the country.

Every once in a while, you get a place that just hits when it comes to chicken. Now, like most of you know chicken breast is the most plain dry cut of meat you could possibly get. So really when you get to a good place that knows how to fry it up right soak in all that moisture. You didn't think it had and give it that perfect crust and spice it to perfection. Now I hate to judge a book by its cover, but let's be honest that's why you give books covers. In this case you can see it so blatantly a good chicken sandwich from a mile away. I like to go around these busy areas and kind of just pee around and look at people's food and see what visually is happening. The same way with the coffee shop you can look at pictures of their drink drinks and know about 90% certainty, but it's gonna be good or not Here was a no braider it tasted exactly how you might think and with all that said it was a banger of a sandwich. It's hard to spend this much on a sandwich these days and I really advocate for places like Dave's Hot Chicken and Chick-fil-A that can just put out a great sandwich for a lower price, but I know that amazing sandwiches usually come at a higher price. With all that sad and all that context put in there this place is good and if you're one of those people comfortable paying normal sandwich prices for sandwiches you're gonna absolutely love this place

The chicken is always juicy and the fattening fried part the best. Their sauce, I've never had anything like it. The sweet tanginess is something new. The fries are thin and crunchy without your fingers being greasy. Mastered. With that said I think it's important to share my review with the establishment. I do not want this amazing little takeout to go anywhere. And how can they fix something if they don't know. Today. My chicken sandwich/the big bird had so much mustard on it. It was overpowering. Dripping. It's all I could taste. Makes my mouth water thinking of it. I could not taste the cabbage. Actually had to check the sandwich, thinking they must have forgotten it. Nope, just drowning in the mustard. The chicken had a few bites of fat. Makes me shiver. To me there is nothing grosser than chicken fat. Can ruin a dish. The French fries. Sinfully wrong. Mastered. The sweet seasoning they use, down to cooking them to perfection. Gold. Crunchy. And never greasy. So good. However, today they tasted more salty than sweet and tangy. So much salt. Was not good. Everything I've had there has been the best. A sweet experience. Not your typical chicken. However. Despite not having the best meal today I'll continue giving them a five star. I've been there to know today was an off day. Between the mustard and all the salt todays meal was not a treat. This is a worthy place. One of my favorites.

It pains me to say this as I'm a business owner in this industry; I get the stresses that come with the tasks at running a business like this. BUT, they need to make some changes immediately. It was a "comedy" night and the host wasn't just bad at hosting, but obtuse, rude and disrespectful to me, my friend, the music entertainer and the patrons. A hostile and incompetent staff didn't provide any help or follow up. I can't get too into details atm for litigation reasons but like I've said, I've never had any problems in any bars with anyone before or have had such an egregious experience that left me bemused to the point where I felt the need to issue a 1 star experience. You have to really mess up to get a 1 star from me. To the owners: I'll be submitting a formal complaint and seeking financial retribution through the Office of the Oregon Attorney General, a secondary complaint will be filed with the BBB as I won't put up with this dubious behavior from your staff or from anywhere. This behavior is unacceptable, unethical and it ultimately places your patrons and staff at risk of bodily harm or injury. I'm going to get down to the bottom of this civilly, legally and swiftly. Oh and the food; I'm sure it's not bad but full disclosure I didn't have any tonight. BUT HERES MY TAKE: Beer prices were typical. Kids menu was decent but kinda small. The adult food was over priced but what else are you going to eat with no other food options near by. The menu is ok but you'll spend 10 Barrel money; min $17 for a sandwich. If you get a beer too make it $25. If you like tacos you'll spend $16 for x3 shrimp tacos!(Which Im sure are frozen shrimp). Those are typical prices like ten barrel, brother John's, etc. but that's a lot of money for not much of an experience or room to breathe and stretch your legs. I'd rather go to the Cross-Eyed cricket down the road and spend the same amount and have a lot better of a time without feeling claustrophobic, ripped off or threatened. For those first timers; IMO this wasn't built as a restaurant to accommodate an experience for guests. This is a tiny bar and tiny inside sitting area that was made to wrangle people in who are on a tour to make more money off of them. Not provide an experience worth your money. BIG DIFFERENCE. There's basically 8 parking spots I think. So plan on parking on the street. Or across the street. This was built to make beer and then the bar came as an after thought. You could go to Cheba hut on a Monday night or Tuesday night and have a blast with just $25. Again not bad food, just way over priced for the experience. Plenty of other bars/breweries that have an attentive staff who are friendly and have great food/beer options.
