We hired Southeastern Land Management for a large-scale drainage and landscaping project. What we received was failure, deflection, and excuse after excuse--with no real accountability.
We gave William Souder and his team clear, written instructions: install a proper drainage system and large privacy-grade nursery plants. Instead, they delivered undersized plants from a budget nursery and a drainage setup that failed within weeks--resulting in floating beds, water pooling, and major yard damage.
William didn't ghost us--he replied to nearly every message. But the replies were polished deflections. He blamed the weather. He blamed the creek. He said he'd "do research" instead of acknowledging that the system simply wasn't installed correctly. And when asked to take ownership, he spun vague narratives about "subjectivity" and "pre-existing conditions."
To "resolve" the drainage issue, he promised a home inspection. We waited. He said the inspector would be here. We waited again. And when the appointment came, no one showed up--confirmed by our security cameras. He now claims an inspector came at 4pm and he wasn't present. This is more than just a broken promise--it's a pattern of misdirection, two and a half months after we first demanded a refund for flooding.
Worse, William hasn't personally visited the site once since the project was completed in early March. Not to assess the damage, not to inspect the drainage, not to walk his crew's work. Two months of flooding, repeated concerns, refund requests, and no professional follow-up. That's not accountability--that's abandonment.
Throughout the project, William shifted responsibility to his sons--who were wildly unprepared. At one point, we heard one of them say "f*** it" to the other. We were left managing the crew ourselves. It's clear this is a business being handed off to the next generation--and it's equally clear they're not ready.
From crew members urinating on our property in broad daylight, to failures in basic scheduling, communication, and honesty, this experience has been exhausting. If you value your time, your property, or your sanity--do not hire this company.
William knows how to sound professional. But if you look closer, you'll see the truth: no structure, no leadership, and no follow-through.
