I had horrible looking diseased juniper bushes at the end of their life in the center of my yard - a challenging position due to the yard features. Where do you go to find recommendations on a good restaurant, nail salon, local bar, company to completely rip up and replace landscaping in your front yard? Yelp, of course. So I did and it is very possibly the best experience I've ever had with any business. It all started with reading Yelp reviews. The review for Lawn Squad mention responsiveness, quality work, service - so I reached out on Yelp for a quote. Within minutes I had a response. Yes. Minutes. Basically, here's what happened: I explained what we needed, arranged a time for the owner (!!!) to come by for an estimate, received my estimate, agreed on the work + plants, got HOA approval, Lawn Squad showed up and did a great job. Not so basically, here's what happened: the owners (Adam and Windy) take pride in their work and in delivering both quality service and a quality outcome. Adam came by , discussed exactly what we were looking for, made professional recommendations and delivered a quote, along with a copy of their COI. As we waited patiently () for HOA approval to begin work, Adam and Windy checked in with us regularly. Once approval was granted and I notified Lawn Squad, everything ran like clockwork. It has taken me way too long to write this review - we got our sod done back in June - The Lawn Squad was absolutely amazing to work with for our sod installation! They were extremely friendly and communicative throughout the whole process. Their team was quick and efficient and they were able to clear out our backyard, grade it and lay the sod all in one day. I was worried about potential damage to our front yard/plants because they had to drive their machine to the backyard, but they were extremely careful to avoid any damage. They made sure we knew exactly how to take care of our lawn before they left and followed up with instructions via email. Adam and his team were great after the project got started. This was a fairly large project requiring 17 pallets of Zeon Zoysia sod. On the initial date the trucks with the top fill showed up and dropped the dirt on the street next to the curb. Adam was there shortly after that but had just learned that the sod could not be harvested because of rain, and this would cause a delay of approximately 1 week. The crew moved all the dirt onto to lawn to clear the street and rescheduled for the next week. The following week was the same problem with the sod so installation was postponed for another week. Thursday of the third week Adam and company were there first thing in the morning, prepped the yard and got everything ready for sod to be delivered Friday. Friday Adam and crew were there about 7:30, the sod arrived about 10:00 and they got to work. They completed the job mid-afternoon on Saturday, cleaned up everything, instructed me on the importance of initial care (watering) and departed. It has been 3 months now and the lawn is really looking GREAT. All of the seams between the pieces of sod have filled in and it looks like a well-established lawn. The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars was the initial delay. This delay impacted two other projects scheduled in and around the same time frame that we were trying to coordinate. For whatever reason, Lawn Squad should have been aware of the sod delivery delay before the scheduled delivery delay. Other than that, the project worked out perfectly and the lawn is looking great. I suspect that Adam is now following up with their suppliers to make sure everything that is scheduled remains on track. read more

After failing to get my lawn under control, I reached out to The Lawn Squad for help. Adam came to my property and helped me think through a solution that included reducing and reshaping a large planter that took up most of my front yard as well as replacing my weeds with TifTuf Bermuda sod. Adam's crew was onsite as scheduled to begin our lawn transformation. In one day they were able to remove all of our existing turf, level-out the ground, backfill with a top layer of fresh soil and install 10 pallets of sod! WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW! I really wanted to work with this company after reading their great reviews and seeing pictures of their work. When I contacted the owner (Adam), I was told that they have a minimum charge of $2500. We set an a,ppointment but a get a call a few days later saying that they won't be able to work on my project because I am out of their range. Oh no! They will provide services for the Canton side of Alpharetta but I live closer to John's Creek and that is just too far. However, they will consider a local project if it is at least $3500. My project is more than double and requires at least three days, but this company is located in Woodstock and perhaps they don't want to have to transport their equipment and employees that far. No problem. Now, you may ask why I would try a business in Woodstock instead of one closer to my home. I don't allow distance to deter me and I always consult smaller/newer businesses first. You know, "help a brother out". A few years ago when my water tank went out, I called a guy in Kennesaw and he was at my home within two hours. By 6pm, I had a new tank and hot water. I also used a smaller company when I needed my air conditioning unit replaced and he delivered big! (best service and best price). Don't sleep on the smaller guys or you might miss out! I was not offended at all that Lawn Squad would not be able to complete my project and I take issue with Yelpers who give negative reviews because a company is not able to complete their project because it's too small or too far. To those people I say, "Pull your head out, it's not about you, it is about business". Businesses are now, (more than ever), having to make decisions that are most cost effective and make good sense. If a significant portion of their cost is transporting equipment and traveling to the site, that obviously cuts into their profit margin. *** It's simple, if a company says that they can't do your project, just thank them for being upfront and honest, then move on to the next business on your list. I recently had the pleasure of having the Lawn Squad complete a front and back yard project that involved zoysia sod, French drain installation and pruning. For perspective, I have been in our home for a year and previous owners had neglected the outdoor space. Over this time I have done small things on my own but decided it was best for professional help for the focal point.
