Please bear with me and this little incident....I'm doing yard work, so I…read morewent to the big box hardware store (initials start with Ho) for some shears and figured since I'm there I might as well go to the tool rental and rent the lawn equipment that I need. Big big mistake. The person at the counter asks me for my Clear ID. What do you mean Clear ID? "You need a Clear ID to rent this equipment, its easy to fill out if you don't have one". I hesitate and say ok, I'm here, let's do it. First they take a photo (both sides) of my drivers license. Then they want my email address, home address, and phone number. Then they take a picture of my face. Then they insists on my social security number. We are now at the 45 minute mark, I'm ready to explode. We haven't even gotten to my credit card yet. The lady next to me is going thru the same thing to rent a Jack Hammer and she's ready to punch someone in the face. They then send a code to my email that I need to retrieve to enter into their dashboard and it FAILS. "I'm sorry sir, not sure what happened, we'll have to start over" This is the same Clear ID people that collect your data at the airport so they can sell it. This is such an intrusion and a waste of time and a real slap in the face. I tell the person at the counter "I quit, I'm outta here and I want all of my data deleted." He informs me that I have to call Clear and ask them to do it. %#^$%@$...I tell the lady next to me she can get that same Hilti Jack Hammer at Pacific Rim Tool Rental for about half the price. I know because I rented one there. Jack Hammer lady is already talking to Pacific Rim on her phone as I leave the Home Disaster exit and head over to Pacific Rim Equipment Rental, which is where I should have gone in the first place.. I walk in, Jim at the counter asks me what I need. I tell him, he asks for my ID and credit card. We are literally walking out to the tool yard in just over 1 minute!!!. The costs is actually less than half the cost of HD. Pacific Rim is my fav place and I've been going here for years. They're good people and no BS. Don't let your brain short circuit like mine did above. Take the time to drive 1/2 a mile and go where it's easy, save money, and you're appreciated. Sigh...

Pacific Rim rental has always been my go-to for various home projects; mini excavators, man-lifts,…read moreskid-steer loader, jack hammer & air compressor, compactor, post hole digger. I've rented all these over the many years. And I've always highly recommended them to friends. Sometimes I have it delivered, sometimes I'll pick it up. I called to rent a 40' extension ladder ($40/day) and asked about delivery because I don't have a pickup truck. $400! $400 for a $40 rental delivery 4 miles away. Yeah, ok. If they didn't want to deliver just say so; don't insult me with a completely absurd delivery fee. No more recommendations to friends. Whenever someone asks about equipment rental I'll be sure to mention how Pacific Rim Equipment gouges pricing for minor rentals. And yes, I'll go rent a ladder and haul it myself, because I can, it's just an inconvenience. But not renting from Pacific Rim. Ever again.

It put water down but didn't pick it up so basically left mud in its path 4 - called the next day, they sent out a technician (the process of getting the technician dispatched was another problem I will not go into). The Technician was a nice guy but he said he drove it and it seemed to work fine. When my guys got to the job site, it had the same problem as the night before. We called the night technician and he said he didn't know what to tell us 5 - I called Herc the next day and said it didn't work and they should pick it up. Their response was that the machine is fine and its user error and they were still going to charge me for delivery of the machine. The managers response was that they are only facilitators and not responsible if we do not know how to use the equipment. I then called Sunbelt who brought me a machine the same day, gave my guy a tutorial (and it worked exactly how we worked the Herc machine), and the machine worked great I will never use Herc again, Sunbelt has my business going forward...and I will spend thousands of dollars renting machines.

Anyway, They had what we needed when we needed it so as I waited for the price I was thinking it was gonna cost a lot more. They basically knew they had us in a pinch. So you can imagine I was pretty blown away when it come out to over 350.00 LESS than I've been paying. They deliver on time and there just isn't any issues. The lifts are nice and safe and the people are probably safe but I know for sure they're nice!! I can't find one thing they haven't done better than every other company!!!! If I find something I'll be sure to let you know! In the mean time, KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK STAR RENTALS!! Oh and I couldn't help but notice the 1 star reviews. That really surprised me so I read as long as I could but had to stop cuz I hate being remind how st**id people are. Dude, do you know the actual trip to drop off whatever your renting isn't what cost the rental company all the time and $$$. SAFETY IS WHATS COSTING YOU SO MUCH Genius! It takes them a very long time to get all the chains out, get the trailer ready to accept the ---- (fill in the blank). Then they gotta chain that huge sucker down so when your bad driving nearly causes an accident that thing doesn't move an inch. Then they gotta do the opposite when they get to you. Oh wait, GUESS WHAT, now they gotta get it back so guess what they gotta do now?? Do I really need to type it all out again?? Probably but, we're gonna let you use your imagination. Anyway, the actual trip is the easy part cuz they've already planned for everything so they can deliver your equipment without even causing a scratch to anything!! That's impressive! Keep it up Star!!

I'm kind of torn about what to give this place…read more I needed a truck on a Saturday morning to swap some furniture from my storage unit to my home. Uhaul, Budget, everyone was already booked up. Handy Andy gets bonus points for being able to accommodate me without an advance reservation. They also got us checked out quickly and charged the same rental fee as the other "big boys." The subtraction point is because the truck was an absolute junker. There was a hole in the driver's seat so big I could put my whole arm through it all the way to the floor. The truck cab was filthy. The cargo area floor was ripping up and there was no ramp. The truck was making a horrible noise - as if a belt was about to go. It felt like the suspension and shocks were totally shot. We had to be extra careful about using enough furniture padding and tie-downs. The place itself is an absolute dump. A literal junkyard. We left there wondering about the company's worker's comp history. There are tools hanging hap-hazardly all over the walls, multiple story shelves and an enormous crazy-hot totally open space heater that would have caught my pants on fire if I had been unfortunate enough to back into it while in line. The guys were nice enough and I did get a last-minute truck. But yeesh - what a rundown dump.
