Everyone was super nice there and I got to fix my door without buying any tools that I won't use! Thank you CHTL!

I'm kind of torn about what to give this place…read more I needed a truck on a Saturday morning to swap some furniture from my storage unit to my home. Uhaul, Budget, everyone was already booked up. Handy Andy gets bonus points for being able to accommodate me without an advance reservation. They also got us checked out quickly and charged the same rental fee as the other "big boys." The subtraction point is because the truck was an absolute junker. There was a hole in the driver's seat so big I could put my whole arm through it all the way to the floor. The truck cab was filthy. The cargo area floor was ripping up and there was no ramp. The truck was making a horrible noise - as if a belt was about to go. It felt like the suspension and shocks were totally shot. We had to be extra careful about using enough furniture padding and tie-downs. The place itself is an absolute dump. A literal junkyard. We left there wondering about the company's worker's comp history. There are tools hanging hap-hazardly all over the walls, multiple story shelves and an enormous crazy-hot totally open space heater that would have caught my pants on fire if I had been unfortunate enough to back into it while in line. The guys were nice enough and I did get a last-minute truck. But yeesh - what a rundown dump.

I said do what you gotta do. he was within a legal right so it is what it is. just expect a passive aggressive asshole when you go and you won't be disappointed

Please bear with me and this little incident....I'm doing yard work, so I…read morewent to the big box hardware store (initials start with Ho) for some shears and figured since I'm there I might as well go to the tool rental and rent the lawn equipment that I need. Big big mistake. The person at the counter asks me for my Clear ID. What do you mean Clear ID? "You need a Clear ID to rent this equipment, its easy to fill out if you don't have one". I hesitate and say ok, I'm here, let's do it. First they take a photo (both sides) of my drivers license. Then they want my email address, home address, and phone number. Then they take a picture of my face. Then they insists on my social security number. We are now at the 45 minute mark, I'm ready to explode. We haven't even gotten to my credit card yet. The lady next to me is going thru the same thing to rent a Jack Hammer and she's ready to punch someone in the face. They then send a code to my email that I need to retrieve to enter into their dashboard and it FAILS. "I'm sorry sir, not sure what happened, we'll have to start over" This is the same Clear ID people that collect your data at the airport so they can sell it. This is such an intrusion and a waste of time and a real slap in the face. I tell the person at the counter "I quit, I'm outta here and I want all of my data deleted." He informs me that I have to call Clear and ask them to do it. %#^$%@$...I tell the lady next to me she can get that same Hilti Jack Hammer at Pacific Rim Tool Rental for about half the price. I know because I rented one there. Jack Hammer lady is already talking to Pacific Rim on her phone as I leave the Home Disaster exit and head over to Pacific Rim Equipment Rental, which is where I should have gone in the first place.. I walk in, Jim at the counter asks me what I need. I tell him, he asks for my ID and credit card. We are literally walking out to the tool yard in just over 1 minute!!!. The costs is actually less than half the cost of HD. Pacific Rim is my fav place and I've been going here for years. They're good people and no BS. Don't let your brain short circuit like mine did above. Take the time to drive 1/2 a mile and go where it's easy, save money, and you're appreciated. Sigh...

Pacific Rim rental has always been my go-to for various home projects; mini excavators, man-lifts,…read moreskid-steer loader, jack hammer & air compressor, compactor, post hole digger. I've rented all these over the many years. And I've always highly recommended them to friends. Sometimes I have it delivered, sometimes I'll pick it up. I called to rent a 40' extension ladder ($40/day) and asked about delivery because I don't have a pickup truck. $400! $400 for a $40 rental delivery 4 miles away. Yeah, ok. If they didn't want to deliver just say so; don't insult me with a completely absurd delivery fee. No more recommendations to friends. Whenever someone asks about equipment rental I'll be sure to mention how Pacific Rim Equipment gouges pricing for minor rentals. And yes, I'll go rent a ladder and haul it myself, because I can, it's just an inconvenience. But not renting from Pacific Rim. Ever again.

Their instructions were very clear and thorough. I would specifically like to thank Nate and Johnathon for their help. I have also some of the other projects I have needed your assistance and have included Chris transmission jacks, porter powers and fender kits among others. I rented an aerator and mentioned that I had never used one before. The staff did take a moment to explain how it works, which was helpful. I also asked at the front desk whether I should use a trailer to transport it, and was told it shouldn't be necessary since they could load it into my truck using their ramp. Three employees loaded the aerator into the bed of my truck (with a canopy), rolled it in, and we closed the tailgate. As I was slowly pulling out to get onto Highway 99, the machine rolled forward, breaking through the canopy glass and shattering the rear window of my truck. What's most frustrating is that no one mentioned that the aerator can freely roll or that it needs to be secured during transport. For someone who has never used this type of equipment, that's critical information. When I returned to the store, I was told, "it has wheels and it'll move," which came across as dismissive. The owner pointed to a sign stating they are not responsible for damage during loading. While I understand liability policies, this situation could have easily been prevented with a simple warning or basic guidance. I've been a long-time customer and regularly rent equipment here, which makes this especially disappointing. I expect better communication and care, especially when safety and potential damage are involved.
