Many of the ships ate closed up today and there doesn't seem to be a lot of people inside the malls or any of the open stores, including Macy's. It's the most dead I have ever seen a mall that's not been permanently shut down. Dismal shopping options here.

Southdale Center is a mall in Edina. If you'd like an alternative to spending hours walking around the Mall of America down the road to either shop or figure out where you had parked your car, come here. Macy's anchors the mall as its major department store. It's funny how I ended up being a huge Macy's fan after I left Minnesota. It has pretty good sales. I got hooked on the Style and Co. line of clothing. I still don't have a need to buy any more pieces, as I am still wearing a lot of them! It also sells Kipling handbags, which I absolutely love. There is an AMC if you want to take in a movie. It's close by to The Cheesecake Factory, PF Chang's, and Buffalo Wild Wings. It's the perfect combination of dining and movie-going. I was thrilled that there is now a Smashburger at the mall, which is one of my favourite burger joints that I like to frequent when I am in the States. I will need to eat there when I'm not full from shovelling food from The Cheesecake Factory. This mall has stores that suits my needs. Gap is bright and had decent deals at the back of the store. I was thrilled to visit the Chatime for my bubble tea fix. I also spotted Starbucks, Caribou Coffee, and See's Candies. There are also vending machines scattered around the mall that piqued my interest. I was playing with the touchscreen on the Proactiv vending machine. It's cool to get your skin care needs with a few taps. I also wanted to get some Mini Melts ice cream, but I was so full from lunch that I had to pass. This mall has a Hockey Lodge store, which is the official store carrying Minnesota Wild merchandise. If you don't want to make the trek to St. Paul, come here. There is plenty of parking. I went on a Sunday afternoon at around 1 pm. I found a parking spot within steps from The Cheesecake Factory. It's a cool, clean mall. I have always liked it. I still do. (415)

Love this shopping center as an exercise in moderation: sizable enough to have my standby mall classics (Gap, Banana, Loft, etc.), but smaller than the gargantuan Mall of America. I try to do my online returns and a bit of shopping here when I'm in the area, since the malls in the NE suburbs are pretty run-down post-pandemic and lack the stores I shop at. For my fellow lactating folks, there is now a truly private, dedicated space to nurse or pump that is not a bathroom (although they have a few family restrooms too!). It's all off the Dining Pavilion in the 2nd floor next to the restrooms. It personally makes me more relaxed while shopping to know baby and I will have a quiet place with a comfy chair, sink for hand washing, and clean-looking changing table to collect ourselves and nurse. Look for the frosted glass door label "Nursing" just past the family restrooms.

A perfectly nice, spacious mall. I heard it's the country's oldest (haven't wiki'd that). They have some mini golf for the kids and a caribou coffee!

I left because there was no directory anywhere. I saw one sign that had a QR code for a directory app. No way. Next time MOA.

Meh. Not many stores, restaurants are closing. Makeup at Sephora was dirty and picked over.

Just the worst? Has no tie to the community in which they are located. I would never go to this mall!

Outside of that is the largest collection of quarter slot rides that I know of. They accept card payment or lets your kids pretend and don't pay to turn them on at all. Then there's a train ride and rideable animals for a fee. In Scheels they have a beautiful aquarium, a fun shooting range for a small fee and a ferris wheel that's only $1 per rider. Then upstairs they have a nice food court with clean restrooms and a variety of food options. I wish all malls were like this.

I wasn't even planning on going to the mall, but it was worth the trip. What really surprised me was Scheels. The size of it is impressive, but the fact they had a real aquarium and a Ferris wheel?! That's a whole other level! It's cool to see a store go above and beyond with entertainment and attractions. I also loved how the staff were very helpful pointing me in the right direction. I didn't shop at any of the other stores so I can't comment on those, but overall it was nice. It was a beautiful day and I just enjoyed walking around and taking it all in. If you need to get out of the house, stretch your legs and be surprised by a unique shopping experience, Eden Prairie Center is a must visit. Scheels alone is worth the trip! Win for a fun unexpected outing.

Mall of America® - I'm looking at this coming from IKEA, realize it's the Upper Midwest, and see an MOA venue named "Flyover." Anyone else find this humorous?

It was such an incredible experience it really makes you feel like you're flying, and the visuals are so realistic. Definitely a must-do if you visit! I also loved all the food options. There are so many places to choose from, and everything I had was delicious. It's nice being able to take a break from walking around and enjoy a good meal without even leaving the mall.Another favorite was the axe throwing it was SO fun and something different from the usual mall activities. It added a really exciting, adventurous vibe to the day and made the whole experience even more memorable. The atmosphere throughout the mall is lively, clean, and full of energy. There's something for everyone shopping, entertainment, food, and unique attractions all in one place. It's perfect for a fun day out with friends or family.I would 100% recommend visiting, and I can't wait to go back and try even more things next time!

The cool thing about this is that you can catch the train right into the place just about. I had a 9:30 flight that was arriving in to Minneapolis and of course I couldn't check into my hotel. I bought an all day train pass and made my way. The coolest thing is that there are lockers of various sizes so you can store your luggage (for a nominal fee) and wander around this massive mall, got to about 1/3rd of it. I was taken back to the the 90's with the old school music playing and some of the stores that I thought didn't exist anymore. There were at least two of the same store but just on different levels or sides of the part of the mall I was in. The amusement park in the mall with the rollercoaster and kiddie rides and roaming characters was awesome. I went back the aquarium, which I would have gone into but it was filled with kids, and honestly it was too early :) Had a great meal at the crepe restaurant. If I was a senior retired, its a great nifty 50s walking spot or just getting out people watch. I would definitely try to go back to see the other parts and to stay the hell out of the cold weather this California gal is not used too.

For sure feel like it's catered to the older crowd. We parked at Von Maur to cut through to the mall. A few things did catch my eye while passing so we ended up looking around a bit. I did find an item to purchase and walked a bit to find a pay station. When I walked up a customer and the cashier were deep into conversation about vacation and even with me waiting they carried on for 5 or so minutes after the fact. I ended up sitting in the chairs nearby to wait. I can say when they finally wrapped their conversation the cashier wasn't as friendly which made me think maybe I shouldn't purchase from them. There was no "thank you for your patience or waiting", "did you find everything okay" or anything. Overall the store is pretty neat and organized. I parked by Von Maur and cut through the store to get to the food court. When I lived in Minnesota, huge department stores were popular. Macy's. Dayton's. Sears. Nordstrom. Neiman Marcus. Dayton's was Minnesota-based. It died, similar to Sears. It was my first time stepping foot in a Von Maur store. It felt like walking into an old Eaton's or Simpsons store when I was a kid. There was a lot to see. It felt comfortable. There was excitement. The first store that the von Maur family opened was in the late 1800's in Davenport, IA. It has since expanded to fifteen states. Its headquarters are still in Davenport. I had no idea. I have actually been to Davenport! This store had a wide variety of brand-name merchandise. I saw popular brands, such as Tommy HIlfiger and Anne Klein. There were many brands that I had never heard of, such as Lyssé, AGB, and Ruby Rd for women's clothing. I am such an outlet, discount shopper. It was nice checking out a classy department store, to change things up. I felt comfortable. Staff were super friendly and non-judgmental. They smiled and said hi. The best part was hearing a pianist in the lobby play songs at noon. It was so cheerful and refreshing as I browsed and moved. I loved it. There were escalators and elevators to get to to various floors of this large department store. It was clean and inviting. I will need to return when I'm not looking for lunch to shop here. I loved what I saw and I look forward to returning. (415)
