It's been a Transit-only Road for a long time so cars are not allowed to drive up and down it. Which actually makes it better even though the winter here last about 27 months a year so it's crazy that people actually walk up and down here considering the temperatures. It is a walkway that is lined by bars, restaurants with sidewalk seating, art, small, independent shops, bountiful greenery, it's always been closed to motor vehicles and restricted to buses and taxis, which has always been a nice advantage, especially in a downtown district. It is not as impressive as it once was, pre-COVID, but still a nice place to visit! One complaint from everyone is that there are no public restrooms, so f you need to go, you need to stop in to like a store like Target, or stop in at one of the many coffee shops and eateries for lunch or coffee...well, possibly that's what the intention is that there are no public restrooms...Hmmm.... I recently visited on a Sunday, my first time after so many years, to visit the Jackalope Art Fair, a downtown Minneapolis Street Festival, which started on 7th street down through Nicollet Mall and had an enjoyable time! I was already prepared ahead of time, regarding the public restrooms and parking, so I had no problems! One stop when you are here that's definitely a must is to check out the Mary Tyler Moore statue on 7th! The actual place and the statue is posed like how she did her beret toss on her show. However; I also love coming randomly throughout the year to get updated clothing items. I typically like to check out under Armour and Nike, the Columbia store also has a separate outlet location as well. Recently, I feel like prices haven't been nearly as good as they used to, but in this economy, who can blame them. I would love to see a little bit more variation in the food court, it's mostly Asian cuisines and Cinnabon. All delicious but would love to see some more options. There's a ton of parking, but if you come on a busy weekend, you may not notice and still have to park far away. Bummed to see some recent retailers, leaving, they've been replaced with stores that my opinion were is great. Overall, a decent shopping trip, it's also in a great location. There's plenty of other stores/eating nearby. I recommend checking out the Twin Cities premium outlets if you haven't been there before.

The line wasn't that long when we went and the hallways were well lit and there wasn't too much crowding. We didn't even make it to two of the floors but man they have everything you could want. My first question to my friend was, "Is there anything that MOA doesn't have?!" The answer was I'm not sure but let's check it out! The food court was pretty well lit and stocked. They had real plants and I was shocked how well maintained everything was. The layout of the building is strategically laid out for a seamless shopping experience. I was incredibly impressed. The only store that you may need to plan for was the Lego store which only let in a certain number of people. I'm definitely glad I was able to try this while I was visiting!

Owned by the same company who owns West Edmonton Mall in Canada, and American Dream in East Rutherford, New Jersey, Mall of America boasts over 520 retail outlets and at least four central food courts. Many retail stores are well-known yet some are unique or rarely seen in malls. The real allure of the mall is for the kids, and it features a massive indoor theme park, Nickelodeon Universe, and an aquarium called Sea Life. Sea Life is hands-on, featuring animals one can touch or hold. The theme park is home to the world's only indoor hi-speed roller coaster. The coasters are not tame either, they are just as raucous as you would expect in an outdoor park. One can walk through the park without buying admission, as each ride requires its own ticket, though the mall itself is admission free. The Mall has early opening hours and late closing so one can "walk the mall" if so desired, before the stores open and after many close. The mall itself is a maze but there are landmarks to help guide you. A full-size movie theater is featured on the fourth floor and as a plus, Minnesota has no state sales tax on clothes or shoes which makes shopping a bit easier. Overall, I rate the Mall of America an 8.5/10.0 on attractions.

Shop selection is meh, I went into a few but didn't find anything to purchase which is just fine by me - I needed a place to hang out that was warm and this was it! Bubble tea, Caribou and smoothies to choose from - I didn't see a food court but I wasn't particularly looking.

Then there's a train ride and rideable animals for a fee. In Scheels they have a beautiful aquarium, a fun shooting range for a small fee and a ferris wheel that's only $1 per rider. Then upstairs they have a nice food court with clean restrooms and a variety of food options. I wish all malls were like this.

The movie theater is also not connected to the mall but walkable. I love how they decorate during the holiday season (at least in the past). She created this market to help artists and artisans, and to collect toy donations (as well as household goods and non-perishable food items for humans and pets) for STEP (the St. Louis Park Emergency Program). It's the annual event's first year in this space, and according to the website, the Market will be going on AT LEAST through December 27, 2023, Tuesday-Sunday from 11:00am-5pm. We parked in the ramp across the street and had no trouble finding this space. It was well lit and clearly identified. The space inside is also well lit, and there's plenty of room to move around in. There's a central counter where you bring the items you wish to purchase to pay for them. For the event that day, a donation to STEP earned you a ticket for a free slice of Muddy Paws Cheesecake. They had on offer about a dozen different flavors that evening, "New York" being one, and it's my absolute favorite, both in texture and flavor. My companion chose a slice of the Salted Caramel, which is equally delicious, but in a different way. For environmental reasons, I was so pleased to see the slices being served in paper board boxes, instead of the previous clear hard-plastic clam shells. There's a large section displaying the clothing pieces designed by St. Paulite, Laura Hlavac. Also available are jewelry made by various artisans, artisan pieces made from things such as snow skis, hockey sticks, hockey pucks, metal piping, golf balls, leather scraps and antique flour sacks, quirky greeting cards, handmade holiday ornaments, soaps, candles, lotions & potions, unique clothing pieces, and hats. In addition, you'll find a large selection of locally-designed puzzles. So many different things to see! And if you find yourself becoming a bit "hangry", buy yourself a slice of Muddy Paws Cheesecake and a bottle of water (or a cup of coffee if they're offering it) and set yourself down for a little while on one of the kids' chairs and relax, and enjoy your slice of delight. Or buy a slice (or an entire cheesecake) on your way out to enjoy later on at home!
