    Fried Green Tomatoes
    Renee P.

Stopped in for a lunch. The service was great, we were seated immediately the server was prompt and friendly. We ordered the fried green tomatoes and deviled eggs for appetizers and we got the fried Brussels sprouts salad, hot chicken and salmon BLT for an entrees. Everything was delish. The star of the show was the fried green tomatoes and the fried Brussels the hot chicken was also delish. In all I would go back to try some more items.

Blackened Tuna Seared to rare perfection, this dish was a visual stunner and flavor bomb. The crust on the tuna had the perfect smoky char, while the castelvetrano olive sauce underneath added this briny, creamy pop that tied everything together. The tapenade on top brought texture and just the right amount of tang. Easily one of the best tuna dishes I've had in recent memory. Mushroom Toast If you're a fan of earthy, umami-rich bites -- this one's for you. The semolina bread was crispy on the outside, soft inside, and held up beautifully under the layer of goat cheese and sautéed mushrooms. Add fried capers and peppery arugula, and you've got this amazing mix of creamy, salty, crunchy, and fresh. A vegetarian dish that doesn't feel like a compromise. Chicken Wings I was not prepared for how addictive these would be. The garlic-honey sriracha sauce hits every corner of your mouth -- sweet, spicy, garlicky -- and it sticks (in the best way). The crispy garlic on top? Genius. Dunk them in the house ranch and chase with a celery stick -- classic with a twist, and totally worth getting messy for. Service was relaxed but attentive, the patio had a great vibe, and every plate that passed us looked just as good as ours. Already planning our return visit.

SB Burger with side mac n cheese and side buffalo cauliflower

Second time visiting southbound and can only say good things!! This time I went for lunch (which had a different menu than the dinner menu) and got the burger with mac and cheese and buffalo cauliflower. Food was amazing and came out quick! Sodas were also served from glass bottles which were unique! We sat outside on the patio and despite being the only people out there our server was very attentive! Inside was also super cute and rustic. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for good southern comfort food.

Mac n cheese and kale salad

Enjoyed a nice date night dinner at southbound and would definitely recommend it as a lowkey spot in downtown Chamblee! If you're a big coffee drinker, southbound turns into moonbird in the morning, which I would highly recommend too as a cafe! At night they become a southern restaurant with a lot of classic southern options on their menu. We started with the deviled eggs and I thought they were pretty decent for deviled eggs but it's usually not my favorite thing. I had the Chamblee hot chicken with Mac n cheese and kale salad for my meal and Alex had bbq with a side of Mac n cheese and fries. Out of the two mains, I thought the bbq was just ok and the sauce was kinda weird so I wouldn't recommend that, but the hot chicken was PHENOMENAL!!!! The Szechuan peppers add such a good heat and taste to it, the chicken is perfectly breaded and fried, and the sauce that goes with it is fantastic! The Mac and kale salad were also pretty decent sides too! Overall I think i would have been a little disappointed if I had gotten the brisket, so do yourself a favor and get the hot chicken when you come!!!

    Live music.

Was here on a Tuesday night where there was some live music. Sat at the bar with a good view and listening ear. The bartender was very friendly and fairly attentive-- definitely left us to our conversation as well. We ordered wine and a few appetizers. Funny, we asked the bartender what he recommended, and he literally recommended every appetizer. When he left, we said to each other, "Did he did recommend them all?" So that wasn't helpful. We ordered the beet "mousse" salad and fish tacos. They weren't that good. Tasted weird, not a lot of flavor. The beets were the best part, but they had so few beets served with mounds of this "mousse." I don't remember anything but a few tasty bites of beet and a lot of sweet sweet cheesy- Cool whip like stuff. The fish tacos just tasted like corn torillas. They were beyond bland and I don't think had any sauce or binding. They just crumbled into cardboard tasteless nothingness. Not much going on at the bar or in the restaurant. No real manager presence. Sort of felt like being at a party you weren't invited to. When we left, the host barely looked up and clearly could have cared less about being there. Strange vibe.

Meat and two. Ordered brisket, collard greens and Brussels. They brought two collards. Yummy!

This place is a gem! Unfortunately my photo doesn't do the food justice. I only have very minor criticisms about this place. The ambiance is good. It's slightly louder than I prefer, but that's a pretty minor inconvenience. The place is busy. Get there early, late or be prepared to wait. Hey, that rhymes . The tables were all booked when I was there so I sat at the bar. I order a whiskey and coke. It was delicious and well poured. Afterwards, they gave me the left over canned coke. That was great for me as I had a decent drive home. I ordered the brisket, with collard greens and Brussels. Well, they forgot my Brussels, but the bar tender instantly noticed and had them brought for me. The Brussels were my lowlight. They should have been cut thinner. They were so large that they were very bland in the middle. The collards were magnificent. They were cooked in a tomato broth of some sorts. I've never had collards like this. As a collard fan, I was thoroughly satisfied. The brisket was the star though! This is 5 brisket! It's amazing! Most places I go, I can cook better brisket than they do. This place blows my brisket skills away! Wow! Only issue I have with the brisket is the size for the price ratio. Service: magnificent! I think I lucked at by sitting at the bar. The lady that waited on me was just 5. Excellent service, good conversation and a amazing experience. I was so satisfied I put in an order to go. Same as my first order, but with the garlic potatoes. They were good, but the garlic was under cooked. I love garlic, but under cooked garlic isn't my fav. I urge you to try this place. Pretty sure you'll like it. If you don't, I would assume your tastebuds are dead.

Parking was easy. Sat immediately on Friday night, choice of patio and interior seating. Servers were attentive and food service was quick. I chose the grilled cauliflower after being recommended by my server. I enjoyed it. There were lots of dishes that I wanted to try will be back.

Man. The food here went beyond expectations. Our server Theresa was kind, attentive, and every recommendation made was beyond 5 stars. Definitely will be back!

This trip was actually our first time visiting without him so we were a little lost about what to do next. LOL. We had gone to a cafe earlier in the day but it was still too early for dinner so we kept searching for something interesting to do. That's when my husband found Distillery of Modern Art. I wasn't really in the mood for drinking during the day so I wasn't sure at first but I'm so glad we went! We had never heard of a combination of a distillery and an art gallery before which immediately caught our attention. It looked like the space is used for a variety of events as well. Since we visited during Mother's Day weekend, there was a flower arrangement workshop happening in one of the rooms when we arrived. The bar area was very spacious with plenty of seating and since it was our first visit, we decided to sit at the bar. The bartender was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to explain the different liquors they produce. My husband sampled their rye whiskey, gin, and Amaro Peach. I'm usually not much of a gin fan but theirs was exceptionally smooth and I actually enjoyed it. Amaro tends to be quite bitter but their Amaro Peach had a really nice balance of bitterness and sweetness. I ordered the Ocean Eyes cocktail which features their Amaro Peach and it was excellent. The bartender also made his own special version of a classic cocktail for my husband (I forgot the name!) and he really enjoyed it. What stood out most was how friendly and passionate the bartender was. You could tell he genuinely loves what he does and honestly, he made the experience even more enjoyable for us. We had such a great visit that my husband ended up bringing home bottles of their gin and Amaro Peach. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Atlanta!

The ube drink is excellent, not super sweet but you can taste the ube flavor and the end is a citrus note which is nice. The other 2 drinks we had were ordered off menu after we explained to the bartender some of taste preferences. The Singapore sling was excellent as well as the other one he made. You can tell that they really care about their craft and are wanting to experiment with different flavors! It was nice being able to sit at the bar and chat as well

I opted to park at the Wal-Mart and wasn't as familiar with the trail so I took the street route. Well-light and populated for safe crossing. The venue is very open and was relatively empty since we arrived shortly after it opened. I love the indoor seating concept with plenty of couches, movable chairs, tables near the open-area space and smaller sections for 2-4 people tucked away along the wall. The DJ was already doing his thing and the bartenders remained busy. As someone who wasn't interested in the drinks, I appreciate that there was a self-serve water cooler in the center of the room. The Jenga and jumbo Uno cards were a hit!!!! It was so nice to have these options available. And as others mentioned, the large screen was playing a classic movie - which we could still see from inside. I didn't stay long and this was a Sunday night but the parking lot was much busier when I left. I imagine the outdoor space gets crowded later in the evening as well. The DJ was just okay - not my cup of tea - but folks seemed to be enjoying themselves. I can definitely see why this place is popular. Although parking is less than desirable, it is not unreasonable. The venue is well-lit and easy to move around. The crowd was diverse, with various ages and backgrounds represented. And depending on the DJ, this would be a great place for meeting with friends, date night or just zoning out to some wonderful music ... especially on a beautiful night. If you're in the mood for something different AND don't mind the trek to Chamblee, check it out.

The second I saw it, I didn't care about the price -- I knew I wanted it, so I planned us a date night. When we arrived, there was a birthday party going on, and I asked the maître d' if they were limiting seating because of the event. He didn't quite understand me, so my fiancée just asked for a table for two, and we were seated quickly. The setup was nice, although I'm personally not a fan of pre-set plates and glasses on tables (you never know how long they've been sitting there). Still, our server was fantastic -- attentive, helpful, and made the night smooth. We came for the famous Piraye Kebab Tray. At first, we were looking at the $165 option (Chef Tray + 1 Meze Board + Shepherd Salad + 4 Orders of Piraye Kebab with rice, all baked inside the dough). When we mentioned the price, our server kindly told us about the smaller 2-order option for $85 -- perfect! And let me tell you, Lord above, when I say I would do some things to eat this food again... words cannot describe how incredible it was. It has been three days since, and I'm still thinking about it. I even posted it on my stories, and over 10 people have messaged me asking about it. Chef Tray: Overflowing with juicy, flavorful meat, perfectly seasoned rice with chickpeas (I swear it was made with veal stock), and that roasted pepper and cheese-stuffed dough on top -- divine. Meze Board: The hummus was creamy and rich, paired perfectly with fresh pita. Shepherd Salad: Fresh, crisp, and balanced. My only small regret was that our server misunderstood when we asked for the dough crust to-go -- I realized the next day it wasn't packed up. Honestly though, I couldn't even be upset, because the food was just that good. For drinks and dessert: Turkish Coffee - small but strong, beautifully presented with a piece of Turkish delight on the side that was everything I had ever imagined a Turkish sweet to be: chewy, fragrant, and delicately sweet. Künefe - a dream come true! A warm, crunchy pastry with gooey melted cheese inside, topped with sweet syrup and pistachios. It was rich, nutty, and sweet without being overwhelming -- the perfect ending. Turkish Martini - decent, but not nearly as memorable as the food. All together, including tip, it was about $140. For the amount and quality of food, the attentive service, and the one-of-a-kind experience, it was absolutely worth every single cent. Piraye Kitchen isn't just dinner -- it's an experience. This is a must-try-before-you-die type of place. Oh, and happy birthday, Amy!

I came in on a Saturday for a 6:15 PM reservation for a party of four. I arrived first on time and my first guest arrived at 6:20 PM. I was told I had to wait till the rest of my party arrived. I set at the bar while waiting for the rest of our party. My friend approached the hostess stand to ask if we could be seated as a party of two . Also, advised the Mexican girl that it will be only 3 but, we don't have to wait for her cause she's not gonna be eating since we're on a time schedule and was attending an event. The hostess was very rude and dismissive, stating "that's not how it works" in an unprofessional tone. Later, another hostess came over and said our reservation had "run over" at 6:35 PM, even though we were already in the restaurant before our reservation time window had passed and there were clearly open tables available. The restaurant wasn't packed at all. When we asked again about a table for two, we were told we could either sit at the bar or wait. The interaction felt very unwelcoming and unprofessional. We told the hostess we wanted a table for two to sit down and eat . The black hostess said , so you want to stay at the bar or you want a table . I said a table. She said , the bar ‍I said no a table. She then said that they could refuse service if we had an attitude, which was not the case . I simply answered her question by saying no . Told her I didn't know that saying no is me having an attitude. At that point, we chose to leave and not spend our money there due to the poor customer service and the rudeness of the hostess. Overall, the staff we interacted with on June 20th at 6:15 PM were rude and unprofessional and clearly need better customer service training. I checked out the menu before entering and seen it is VERY expensive per hour...... this is definitely a place you need to come with a group of at least 6 ppl...... The karaoke rooms have their own unisex bathroom inside so you dont need to leave the room unless you wanna get a drink directly from the bar. All it all, this was pretty expensive, with my group's bill totaling to over $600 plus some food and drinks...

Atrocious experience this Saturday 4/25/26…read more We were actually over at sweet hut around 9pm and decided to check out Sapphire Karaoke since they were close by. At 9:26pm, we sent 2 people from our group of 6 to go by Sapphire to see if they had availability for us. The manager told them "yes, we will have a room in 5 minutes" so the rest of our group showed up excited and ready to karaoke. We waiting patiently 10-15 minutes and the manager came by again with "I'm sorry but someone messed up reservations and we won't have a room until 10pm". It was 9:44 pm at this point. The manager could tell we were about to leave and she comes back and says "oh good news, this group is checking out now. I'll have a room ready in 10 minutes". 2 from our group couldn't wait longer so they left. The rest of us decided to wait and got 2 bottles of Soju. It's $15 a bottle and THEY WILL CHARGE YOU A NON OPTIONAL GRATUITY so keep that in mind if you want to leave a tip, it's additional. Our total for the soju ended up averaging $20 a bottle. I asked the manager at 10pm what's going on and she just cuts me off and keeps walking with a "hold on". 10:15pm rolls around and the manager was no where to be seen. At this point we have been waiting 45 minutes with no updates when the original wait quote was FIVE minutes. We saw 3-4 parties come in and get seated. I'm not sure what kind of business they're trying to run but we sure felt BAMBOOZLED out of $50 for 2 bottles of soju and wasted 45 minutes of our time. They clearly have to figure out their scheduling/reservation system if the staff are making multiple errors. Don't lie to patrons that you have a room available when you don't. This felt like the equivalent of an overbooked/oversold flight and they were hoping they could get more clients to cover no shows- at least be honest and say we were on a waitlist.

But nothing at all other than the beer list makes it feel 'brewery', it's very much an upscale interior, fanstic layout of sushi bar, regular bar, open air dining and outdoor patio. The food - wow. very unique flavor profiles, hearty, lots of great options between samplers, sushi, and main courses. Pro Tip - if you feel overwhelemed about the menu, most of the staff that i meet here know it very well and have worked here for a very long time, so feel free to ask, we were suprised by such a good selection of options by our bartender.

The interior has an open concept - cool to see in open view the whole kitchen. Fresh seafood and sushi. All made/prepped in house. The hand rolls were great, as well as shrimp roll, which had interesting curry fries that came along it, which I thought was nice. I didn't try any of the noodle type dishes so can't comment on those. I enjoyed it! However.... The dessert was horrible. Overpriced gas station dessert (actually, gas station dessert is probably better and cheaper). All brought in from an outside commercial vendor/wholesaler (confirmed upon asking). Specifically, I ordered 2 desserts: one resembling something like a creme brûlée and one that was a layered chocolate cake/tart. Both were shockingly bad, and you don't want that especially after a good meal. Maybe they were old? Regardless, either don't serve any of these desserts, or offer like 2 options that are made in house.

We love grabbing drinks here, playing games from their huge selection, or catching a game on one of their TVs. It's extremely family-friendly--you'll see plenty of parents with babies and kids--but it's also a great hangout for singles and groups, with a crowd that ranges from 20s to 50s. They offer a vast selection of beer, IPAs, and sours on tap, plus a solid handful of wine options. There's also a refrigerated section on the right with canned drinks, including hemp, CBD, and THC-infused options, and even kombucha for those skipping alcohol. We've been coming since they opened, and it's been fun to watch the concept evolve. Most recently, a barbecue spot opened inside, and it looks like more food options are coming--think food hall vibes off to the right. There's also a cute coffee shop that opened in the same building. Bonus PSA: Chamblee has an open container law, so you can walk around with your drink and bop to other nearby spots with ease. Love that
