Another contractor we'd contacted for a quote struggled to understand the project (remove two adjacent closets to create a hallway to provide dedicated access to the 3rd floor, and build a new closet in the modified bedroom). Upon coming out to provide a free estimate, Marke immediately saw exactly what we wanted to accomplish, and even made several suggestions we hadn't considered that worked out wonderfully. Throughout the project Marke was incredibly responsive via email, phone, and text - answering questions, providing updates, and scheduling activity. He made our renovation project painless: from pulling the permit, scheduling out each step of the project, coordinating inspections, and working around our schedule - it was a seamless process. In addition to working efficiently, he and his team took extra care to minimize their presence in our home. Prior to leaving each day, he vacuumed the entryway, stairs, and hallway leading to the room they were working in on the second floor so there wasn't a trace of dust or debris. The quality of his work is outstanding; everything appears original to the house and is well constructed (the inspector was even in and out in less than four minutes - and uttered, verbatim, "beautimous"). You said that Danae had gotten my online inquiry and that she'd get back with. I stated that I wasn't trying to rush you and was patient because I want you to do the work. I reminded you that you said, "2 to 3 days (April 14) but it wasn't until April 24 that I got a concrete answer that you will not be doing the job. My contention isn't that you can't do the job, but that I wasn't given the courtesy to tell me that you weren't interested in providing the estimate nor would be able to do the job. If I hadn't called or inquired, I would never have gotten an answer at all. How could I give you a higher rating? You only came to look at the project. I can't grade you on quality, service or promptness because I have no reference point to go by. My review isn't harsh but simply stated as it happened. Everyone I received quotes from in Raleigh were absolutely ridiculous and Apex is definitely more sensible. Unfortunately for us, it has been raining like mad for the last few weeks so our fence had to be postponed, but once the sun started coming back- we now have the back done. I will definitely call him to finish the other sides. He will actually call you/email you and talk things through with you even when you are random/somewhat annoying like I am so he has been pretty patient with me. :-) Also, he's not like a random subcontractor. He's actually the one doing the work and it's more like a family business and local which I appreciate.
