The Gonzalez contract stated scraping of old paint is included, but the team refused to scrape paint off my siding saying they don't do that. I brought it up with the foreman multiple times. Well, most of the exterior of my house is siding, so I would never have signed the contract if that was stated at the outset. See the attached photo for how they just spray paint over peeling paint. I called the owner and left a message but there was no return call. I won't get into other issues, but for this reason alone, I am giving 1 star.

[#2] I wanted to get a quote for re-painting my metal roof with a sealant. I paid that invoice, and called again several weeks ago for two more things: [#3] We had a leak in a corner under our roofline where two gutterlines meet. The insurance appraiser suspected it was due to a gap under the roofline that rain was blowing through during hard wind. I was hoping they would install some sort of flashing or protection over that gap, which would probably require gutter removal to reach. [#2 again] Since I hadn't received an estimate after the first job, I followed up about that. The people who came out (5/25/2022) did not fix the gap under the gutter corner, though I don't know why: it has since been fixed by another provider. Instead, they applied a single stripe of sealant down a roof line where there was no evidence of leakage. They also said they would provide an estimate for tightening screws and re-painting the roof for maintenance. This already felt like redundant work, since that's what they had supposedly done the first time, so I really didn't expect the expensive invoice that followed: $840+tax. I responded asking for clarification of the charges. (They quoted $168 per hour, and two men were there for 1.5 hours. That puts the paint used at $336.) I didn't hear back, so I follow up two days later, to which I received a reply that she was working on it. Two more weeks later, I followed up again, and was promised a prompt response. On Tuesday June 21, I got an email that the invoice had been dropped to $625+tax... still a flat price with no breakdown of hours and materials. Again, I asked for clarification of the costs, but at this point also decided to write this complaint. I ALSO PAID THE INVOICE. (I clarify this because I'm not doing this to justify stiffing them. I can afford $678, but I can't afford to spend any more time or patience waiting for an explanation or follow-through. My time is better spent making a BBB complaint and sharing my experience here.) So, to summarize: - They charged for duplicate work, since they were supposed to have provided an estimate after coming to address the first leak but never did. - They painted a single stripe down the seam of those roof lines and then tried to charge $336 (later $121) for the paint. - There was no evidence of leakage there. The actual leak was later repaired by another provider in the original spot that I pointed out but that they didn't repair. - It took two of their people 1.5 hours to look around the roof of a 1020sqft house (again, for what, I don't know, since they had already been out to estimate this before) and paint a white stripe that didn't need to be painted. - They still haven't provided an estimate that I think I've paid for twice now.

I'd been saving up for eight years for this because I wanted quality -- and it isn't always the name brands you know that are the best. I chose this company for these reasons: 1) Reputation. The company has been around since 1961 so they aren't going anywhere. 2) I researched the brand and type of window they install to verify quality and these were recommended by more than one person. 3) I asked about the install itself -- who measures, to what detail do they measure, type of caulk, how they insulate. And they never once treated me like "the clueless little woman." The rep respected that I did this due diligence and even gave me MORE information about their installation process, which I double checked, and yes, it is above and beyond. 4) The payment plan was simply unbeatable. 5) They gave me a DETAILED quote AND personal references. Other companies I spoke with did not. Communication was impeccable. It was a wait of a few months, but they kept in touch. Installation took only 3 days for 19 windows and 4 entry doors. These guys work FAST, without sacrificing attention to detail. When we had a mishap with one of my cats escaping the "safe space" they worked with me until I could corral him into another safe space. The crew chief, Chris Riley, is personable and managed the job well. The work site was left CLEAN. The full screens I asked for were installed later, and they're great. I had many windows that hadn't been opened for years because of being painted shut, nor had they been cleaned well. Now I can clean my own windows, the draftiness is gone and I am comfortable because that this company stands by its work. I am an anxious person.
