Sunday twilight round and it was amazing! I'm an amateur golfer and have only been golfing since May 2022. Although I don't know much about courses (ins and outs) I did find this one to be in good condition! Was well kept and loved how green it was (I'm from AZ). The greens were a bit tough but my short game needs work for sure. Make sure to check the course out, and bring an extra ball or two just in case, haha. The Par three course has too many golfing groups at each tee time so there is constant wait at subsequent holes. There is limited parking for all the golfers. Great golf course, range and clubhouse nearby! Though it's easily accessible from the 470, you feel like you're far from the metropolis we live in. Beautiful greenery, running streams and even wildlife. Quite affordable as well, for either the par 3 course or the 18 hole. Though the greens can be a bit rough at times, this is perfect for those regular games with friends or going to hit a few at the range. read more

Had a great morning of golf. The course has a few areas that are a bit run down and need some TLC but for a beginner the price was perfect and the par 3 was a nice and easygoing course to play. Brunch was very decently priced and we enjoyed our time on the patio! Had the avocado toast and would probably order again or the smothered burrito which looked great. read more

The golf course is great however the clubhouse food menu has changed to over priced sandwiches and a few other options. No more signature western burger and a change up on the French dip. The service and attentiveness was horrible. Not only did we have to seat ourselves and after more than 15 minutes of waiting go get our own menus and high chair but then we had to flag down the waitress to order (it wasn't even full for a Friday evening). We were a table of 3 and never received a refill nor were we check in on ever. We had to ask for the bill and it didn't come within 15 minutes yet again so we had to stand up and go physically get it and immediately hand her our card. There was no knowledge about the new menu. Won't be dining here as much as we normally do in terms of with people in town etc. nothing to sell on anyone. read more

Was good time until they turned a sprinkler head on directly by me that drenched me. I get they had them on so people would leave since it's dark, but I go to do my last putt and they specifically turned one on to hit me. I've worked at a golf course before. The sprinklers turn on in zones or manually one by one, so somebody likely watched and blasted me on purpose. read more

This review is purely for the beginners golf lessons I took at South Suburban in July. 4 classes in total, they covered everything from proper grip, to swing, various clubs and putting. The class was small (5 ppl) and it was pretty short (45 minutes a class), but it gave a great foundation if you want to start hitting the links. Plus they have a dedicated practice/training section so you have some privacy and you won't feel like you are going to take out a player on the course. Oh and best of all you don't have to have your own clubs or even pay extra to rent them, Patty (our instructor) always had the necessary club at the ready for each class! I really felt like I learned a lot and it even inspired me to get a set of clubs to start playing. For the price ($60/in district & $90 out) it can't be beat. If you want to get in the game, its a perfect way to try it out! read more

I would rate rate 0 stars if that was available. I drop $50 for my friends and I to golf. I show up 1 and a half hours early to hit some balls at the range. Apparently the range closes at 5:30 on the particular day. This would be useful information when I was on the phone with them earlier.I show up at 5:35. So I am stuck here for an hour and a half can't even hit a ball. The guy "shooed" me with his hand when I tried talking to him. Overall horrible customer experience. I am stuck here for an hour and a half. I would recommend another course. In conclusion this customer experience is a -1/10. If you are reading this please go to any other place. read more

I recently started playing more golf and decided to give South Suburban golf course a try. I used to carry a 4 handicap but I haven't played much in the past several years. This place is a treat if you don't mind a lot of 3 putts. The golf course and restaurant staff are very customer service oriented. They are good about explaining things without the arrogance you find at a lot of other courses. The golf course is challenging and fun with wide fairways and large greens. The greens are some of the toughest I have ever played on and I have played thousands of rounds of golf in my life all over the US. The food and service is top notch at their restaurant! My favorite is the "Turn Burrito" for about $5.50. They wrap the breakfast burrito in foil so it's very portable and easy to eat on the golf course. Bonus: best tasting breakfast burrito I have had since moving to Denver 5 years ago. The driving range and practice green are terrific! I have not tried their par 3 course but plan on doing so soon. Plenty of easy parking and the clubhouse is set off the main road which makes for a nice relaxing experience. I recommend South Suburban golf course to intermediate to advanced golfers. Beginners would probably enjoy the par 3 course more. The clubhouse is beautifully designed and very clean. The golf pro I dealt with was super friendly as well. read more

South Suburban Golf Course has REALLY become a great course in the past few years! The greens are definitely tough! The amount of updating this course is doing is incredible! Tho sometimes it may be hard to get a tee time, it's obvious why this course is so popular! The new(ish) clubhouse is now under new management and it's quite obvious. The menu is great, there is a turn menu that provides some quick and awesome food in minutes! I had the burrito and it was incredible!Tonight I brought my family over for the live music! Omg! It was rocking and there was barely an open seat! Service was super and everyone, customers and staff, appeared to be having a great time! I can't wait to come back next week and see some more live music! What a great addition to this area!! Thanks SSGC!!! read more

We had a 5:00 tee time. Got everything paid for buy 4:20, went to get balls from the man who dispenses them for the Range, only to find it closed. When we tried to speak to the man in charge of this, he ignored us and kept walking away. When we caught up with him, and explained we needed balls, he said " closed" when we repeated we here before 4:30 he said " not my problem "! He then proceeded to pick up buckets from the other people, dumping their balks on the ground, and when they expressed they were playing he said "I'm only doing what they tell me to do". They were very irritated. We just left and didn't play. We play every week and have never been treated this way. He definitely doesn't need to be in any customer service position. So disappointed! read more

There should probably be a separate listing for Suburban's 9-hole par 3 course, but I don't have time to post it. I barely have time to write this review. I am still trying to make up for the time I lost playing that course on a Saturday afternoon in June. It took us over two and a half hours to play 9 holes of par-3 golf. All because the group ahead of us was averaging close to 18-minutes per hole. 18 minutes! Often, to go a total of 134 yards. The pace of play was so slow that time slowed to a stop, and people outside of the time warp of the course began to move backwards through the continuum. To make matter worse, a marshal rolled up on the whole proceeding on the third hole, when the idiots ahead of us were already four holes behind, took one look at everything and then nodded his approval. "Yup, looks about right for a par-3. Best of luck to y'all." The course itself was ok: some decent variations on a few of the holes, but a whole bunch of similar shots. 8-iron, 8-iron, 8-iron at one point. It would have been a lot more fun if the pace of play had been remotely realistic. As it was, I'm still trying to catch up with the time I lost out there. read more

This course is what I learned to play on. The 9 hole is a great beginner course and is a good course to have a relaxing game on. The 18 hole is pretty challenging for what it is. If your clubs aren't good, you can rent some really good ones for free. The cart rental price and the price to play are very reasonable. I must also mention that the food is top-notch. read more

Played 18 in 4h 17m walking on 6/20. The hospitality from everyone is top notch. Not a hard course to get to the greens. Once you are on the fun begins. Three puts are common. But the wait staff at 19 was fast and fun. As good ad it gets for the south side of town. ( sub $50 is nice too ) p.s. no beverage cart on the course. Might be a good idea not to have one...keep the 5 putts off the card. read more

An otherwise nice course ruined by silly greens. They seem to think making greens so sloped that nothing can hold makes for a challenging game. On some of the greens you must drain the first attempt, regardless of distance, or you will be off the green. This is really too bad because it is a pretty course with a good layout. Save your money and time. Play one any of the scores of great public courses in the Denver metro area. Leave this one alone and maybe they will get a new greens keeper. read more

The new club house is spectacular, but they are still ironing out the kinks with staffing.

The course isn't bad. It offers a 9 hole par 3 course and a regulation length 18 hole course. The fairways and rough are well taken care of, but the greens are below par and that is taking it easy on them. They are inconsistent and not in good shape. To make matters worse, they had scattered groups of many different sizes that they didn't bother trying to see if they could combine before they sent us out on the course. After the group in front of us refused to link up, we joined up with the group behind us as play backed up. Very rudely the marshal drove out to us to complain that we were backing up play after we had waited behind two groups on the whole prior to tee off before we could go. I think the main reason that play backs up is because so many people choose to play only 9 holes. Instead of saving tee times for those wanting to play a full 18 and finding a way to stagger those playing 9 on the front and back 9 of the course, they send everyone out from hole 1. Sadly this takes up tee times from those wanting to play a full 18, and as mentioned slows down play significantly. That being said, if you only want to play 9, I would recommend asking to play the back 9. As it is less trafficked, it is in much better condition and you shouldn't have any issue with the course clogging up with people. read more

Without a doubt, hands down, the single worst golf course I have played in all of Colorado. Staff was meh. Pins were set up like it was the Masters. Didn't see a beverage cart til hole 9. Setup of the course was terrible. Hundreds of better options in the Denver area. Don't waste your time with this turd of a course. read more

I have been playing this golf course since I was a kid, and I always have loved this course. For the 18, the fairways are wide but the holes still provide a challenge. The par 3 is a nice mix of distances and types, with only one hole less than 100 yards (depending on which tees you play from). The course is always in good condition and provides both challenge and forgiveness for your average golfer. If there is something to critique, it is that it is easy for the rounds to get behind as the fairly beginner course sees a lot of beginners. Marshals could do a better job of trying to keep the pace up so that people don't get hours behind. Goes for both the 18 hold course and the par 3. All in all, this is a great course that I love to play any chance I get. read more

I'm a big fan of this beautiful course. I grew up in the area and learned to play there. The greens are definitely challenging, but the fairways are fairly wide and easy to hit. Good variation between holes, and they don't run too close together. Has a classic layout and feel, and houses aren't too close. Took lessons from one of the pros, Walter Schlomer last year and he was very good. The rest of the golf and clubhouse staff is also very friendly and helpful. read more

I love this course. I live 10 minutes from here, so it's convenient that my favorite course is the closest one to me. It's a good challenge here. The greens are brutal though and require that you're below the hole. If you're going downhill, consider a 2 putt an accomplishment. It is slow pace-wise, but you have to remember it's a low priced public course in South Denver, so what else could you expect? Overall, I really recommend it. The best part of South Suburban is the early tee time and discount provided to South Suburban parks and recreation members. You get a full 4 days to register before opening up to the public if you are a member. AND you get pretty nice discount as well. In general, the path to the greens is relatively easy and course management is pretty straight-forward. Pace of play is decent except when overly crowded, and South Suburban does a good job cramming as many into the course as humanly possible on the weekends. Those points considered, there are lots of other courses in the same price range of similar quality that you will likely have lower scores on. The issue is that the greens on South Suburban are wickedly difficult to judge and the placement of the pins can be downright ridiculous if the greens keeper is having personal issues. I personally believe that some of the greens have illegal slopes and it wouldn't surprise me to see a volcano or windmill on them like in putt-putt. Don't be fooled into thinking that just because you missed that 2 footer on the practice green and it rolled all the way onto the driving range that the greens on the course will be any different. They are NOT!!! They DEMAND you hit below the hole in order to have any chance of a score under double bogey. If you are putting from above the hole - good luck. It is not uncommon to 3 or maybe even 4 putt. This would be a simple course to play since about 3 or 4 of the par 4s are reachable by big-hitters and there are only a couple that truly challenge. The par five number 15 on the back nine can break your back if it's windy (Of course you have an equal shot of breaking a window on the same hole). Number 7 is a just a bitch - even on calm days. PS - The cart service is spotty so bring extra "ammo" if you know what I mean for the course! read more

I usually play the Par-3 as I am still in the beginning stages of golf. Depending on the day/time, the Par-3 course can get backed up a bit. The fees are reasonable, especially for residents and the course is well maintained. This is more of a community golf course so don't go in with the expectation that you are going to be blown away by the courses. For what it is, I am a fan. They usually have 2 for 1 coupons on the South Suburban web-site for the Par-3 which equates to $5/person walking on weekdays and $6/person weekends which you just can't beat for a quick round. read more

I have only played the par 3 course here, but I have to say that I was fairly impressed by it. I feel like a lot of par 3 courses are just a side note at most facilities and therefore can be either hit or miss on the maintenance of them. This one seemed very well kempt. Also, it wasn't quite so bland as a lot of others could be. Good mixture of trees, water hazards, bunkers, and flowing greens kept it somewhat challenging even for a par 3. Pace of play is a little slow, but if you're going to be that uptight about it, then don't play a par 3 at a municipal course! Anyone complaining about a pace of play on a par 3 (I'm talking to you Greg Q) needs to remember that you weren't pushed out of your mom's womb with a 7-iron in hand, shooting 70s! How else are beginners supposed to learn? You can only do so much on the driving range/practice facilities. At some point you need to get out there and play on a real course! Would you rather they be on a full length course holding you up even more? I've discovered over my years of playing that a lot of times you can actually play a true 9 with a cart in very close to the same amount of time as walking a par 3, because there are always going to be people learning on a par 3 course; especially at a municipal course like this. If you want to be one of those uptight snobs, then go pay $80-$100 for a round with your fellow snobs. I guarantee that no one still learning the game is going to pay $80 for a round of golf, so you won't have to worry about that. But if you're going to come play a par 3 at a municipal course for $10, well then you're going to run into beginners! Remember: this is a municipal course! This is where people go to learn how to play! So pull the PW out of your a** and remember what it was like when you were learning! If you're trying to learn/teach someone how to play, or want to get some good short-iron practice in, I would recommend the par 3 here. Just be aware that there will be people out there trying to learn, and try to be understanding to that fact! If you're someone who does not possess the skill of empathy, then do us and yourself a favor and just stay off of the par 3! read more

Driving past the course you'll notice how wide open it is and its' great condition. In fact you'll think this looks like a fun, "easy" course to play. Your idea of "easy" will change immediately upon landing on the 1st green. The greens are all extremely tough. The ball sticks well to them and they are not overly fast but the contouring of each one can turn a easy par into a double bogie and leave you wondering what went wrong. Not one green in the entire round did I have a straight putt, rather it was from 20ft or 5ft. I was lucky enough to get paired up with a group that had played the course several times, with out their warning I would have finished very poor. In fact they guy at the club house told me that the course was rated to have the 2nd toughest greens in Colorado. I do however recommended this course to everyone. It was a lot of fun and really allowed me to step up my putting game. read more
