    Scooter, aka Scoots!

My hubby agreed to take in our three cats, one at a time. Our youngest needed to come back for a booster, and he missed the date for that shot. They understood and with no hesitation, they booked the appointment and we were set. Five stars!

A couple weeks ago I had to take in my cat on a Saturday for emergency care ! The staff were all…read moreextremely helpful and supportive given the circumstances ! When my cat was admitted it was originally supposed to be from Saturday through Monday ! They gave us an estimate that had a low & high end price expectation ! Dr. Pilsburry & all of the staff went well above & beyond in their patience & understanding as well as communication with us the entire time ! My cat ended up being hospitalized until Thursday afternoon & the price still came under the high end estimated price given to us on Saturday his day of admission ! I've dealt with many of vets in my 60 plus year lifetime from small animals ( dogs, cats, hamsters reptiles etc etc..) to farm animals ( horses, sheep ,pigs, goats etc... ) & I don't recall a single one of them ever being more honest , helpful & understanding bunch as they were at Acornhills animal hospital ! I will recommended this place to any loving pet owner out there ! They are a 10 out of 10 in my book ! Dr.Allison and or her staff were in constant contact with me at all times with the most compassionate and supportive attitudes ever ! I've written maybe three online reviews in my life and those were not positive ones ! But I could not let the amazing people who work there with such supportive attitudes just go by without me saying anything ! Thank you just didn't come close to what I thought those wonderful people deserved ! I've only had a couple of experiences in my lifetime where I was over wrought with such a panicked & extremely anxious attitude over my very sick fur baby only to be meet with such truly caring compassionate & supportive people that took not only exceptional care of my pet but also great care of me & were that way towards my pet & I from the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out even extending onto the following week with check up phones calls making certain all was going well at home I I get that nowadays people are concerned about the cost of pet care especially in emergent situations and given the circumstances of this experience I can tell you from past experiences similar to this I feel that their prices were well BELOW ANY OTHER emergency vets costs that I've incurred and they were even up front 100% about those costs from the time they examined my cat !! They didn't add extra costs for this test or that or try & nickel and dime you to death a little at a time like 99.9% of other vet clinics I've dealt with in the many many years past !! I could go on & an about my personal experience with this place was and not run out of all the positives that I experienced but I won't , but I will tell you that if you're a loving parent of a fur baby and you are looking for a care provider in an emergency or not only go to Acornhills veterinary clinic if you want a very fair & upfront price and to have your animals cared for by caring , compassionate & knowledgeable people then this is the only place in Amador county where you can find it ! If that is not what you are looking for then good luck on your search as there are several other places to check out !

Dr. Smalley was referred to us through my manager who recently euthanized his dog after suffering…read morefrom cancer and so happy for the referral. My tortie,, Brownie was either born or contracted Feline Herpes when we rescued her from the Stockton shelter. She always had bronchial issues, we figured permanent from the kennel cough we were told she had at the time of adoption that was treated with two rounds of antibiotics but during the last year, she really declined and a mass was growing from one of her nostrils. After 1 removal that was unsuccessful and it grew back double the size in a couple of months, several rounds of antibiotics and steroid shots, we consulted a couple of vet hospitals and were told the costs would be between $8-$10K, she had a 50/50 chance of the mass not returning. We pondered that but then Brownie just stopped eating/drinking, could hardly breathe and was just suffering. I called Dr. Smalley on a Monday and she was at home Wednesday afternoon. She was just awesome. Not only did she comfort Brownie during the process but us as well. The whole process was just so hard even though Brownie didn't budge with the cocktail shot and within seconds, she seemed to be pain free. We spent some time saying our goodbyes and she was so patient and caring. She kept telling us take all the time we need and we did. Dr. Smalley, thank you for helping us make what we feel was the best decision for our beautiful Brownie....she's no longer suffering.. I wouldn't want your job and I told you that.....your response was, not only do I do this for the precious animals that are ready to go but I do it for the parents too. It really is the ultimate gift to give someone when they have had enough. Brownie girl......will meet at the Rainbow bridge some day.

Instead of charging me for a ranch call, I sent her pictures of the gash and she honestly said stitching it would not hold it closed. So she told me how to care for it, what to expect during the healing process, and asked me to keep her apprised of my horse's progress. What a wonderful, professional horse healthcare professional!
