I was really disappointed with my experience at this bookstore. From the moment my friends and I walked in, the owner kept giving us nasty looks and made us feel extremely uncomfortable. It honestly felt like we were being judged and profiled for no reason. We weren't being loud or disruptive -- just browsing like any other customers -- yet we were treated with suspicion and disrespect the entire time. A bookstore should feel welcoming and inclusive, especially for young readers, and this experience was the complete opposite. I hope management takes customer treatment more seriously, because no one should feel judged or unwelcome just for walking into a store. she also has an eye problem maybe keep your eyes in the front of your head next time. read more

Okay little bookstore in downtown Memphis area. A little bit underwhelming on their book selections. A lot of the books were much older and the selection overall was lacking a bit. Some of the books were def overpriced. Overall, it was okay but I've been to a few other bookstores that had more of a variety and better selection. read more

Terrible and awful customer service from the owner of all people. Very small store. While cute cuts not very inclusive to those with anything but liberal view points. No problem, they do carry some of the more common or popular for the moment books. I have been several times with my daughter and given them money bc they are local. Not anymore though. The older man was really nice but the woman was awful and ugly to the core. Prices are a little more probably bc it's a small and local bookstore. My money will be better served elsewhere. I had a really bad experience at this bookstore. My friend and I were excited to look around, but the owner was extremely rude to us for no reason. They spoke to us in a very disrespectful way and said some really hurtful things that made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. We were just trying to browse quietly, but the whole situation ruined the visit. A bookstore should feel warm and inviting, but this place was the complete opposite. Cute little used bookstore, very tidy, and well-organized. Local-sourced pottery and some gifts as well. I scored a couple of cool postcards. There is a small outdoor sitting area. All staff and guests were masked, which was appreciated. Cute part of town. read more

Such a lovely little bookstore! My kids loved browsing the titles! The shop was tidy and well organized and smelled like books!

Dusty. Unfriendly. I guess he was looking suspiciously at my cellphone. Walked in and past a few uninteresting-looking shelves like, "where's the rest?"... but that was it. There was a big shelf right by the sort of lecturn where the proprietor stood that had lots of books on Memphis. If that's what you're into. Maybe one of those books would help explain what happened to cause this town to have so few bookstores. read more

I would give this place a half star or less if I could. The person behind the counter eyeballed everyone who came into the store suspiciously. The books looked like library discards and were in extremely poor condition. If you like bargain style books that are flea market faire, or faded editions of countless Danielle Steele hardbacks, this is the retailer for you. Oh yeah, don't go out of your way to LOUDLY chastise your patrons for not adhering to your bougie (and poorly posted) no cellphone policy. Embarrassing and openly profiling your customers is extremely discourteous. People only come into this place to wait for their tables to open at Arcade Restaurant anyway. read more

Reading is FUNdamental! At least that's what I taught my children. They are avid readers and married to avid readers. This store lost several entire family's business when I learned how rude they were to children and parents when visiting their business. The message is they cater to those without children so if you opted to not have them, you might enjoy shopping here. However empty nesters let me tell you, if you instilled a love of books in your kids, as I tried to, this store will undermine everything you taught them as they make it clear they do NOT want children there! read more

Charming and quirky (but quite small) new and used bookstore in the South Main Historic District. I loooooooove reading, so I make a point to check out independent bookstores when I'm visiting a city. My husband and I were visiting his brother in Memphis for a weekend, and I visited four (FOUR!) independent bookstores! (Ps. Kudos to Memphis for being so reader-y. So many bookstores, and all so unique and charming.) South Main Book Juggler was very cute and very homey. And I LOVED that they had a section for local interest books. When I'm visiting a city I like to get books that I might not ordinarily pick up. So when I found that section, I picked up a really interesting civil rights era memoir and a history of Beale Street! I'll always remember that I got those books at the Juggler! And that's why book stores are great! read more

Nice books but.... We were visiting from out of town and stopped in here to check out the books. I saw a book I thought might make a good gift for my husband who was not with me and was back at home, and instead of buying and there being a chance he didn't really enjoy it, I might snap a pic and show him and see if he wanted me to buy it for him. My other family members had books in their hands, and were almost going to spend our money here. I was immediately told by the woman working the store that I could not take photos (I was taking one photo of the cover of this book to show my husband, and was probably going to buy it); and it wasn't the fact I was told not to because it is what it is but the way she asked was quite condescending (she also felt the need to express my act in snapping one photo is completely unfair to the author and blah blah blah, reprimanding me for showing my husband this book); and immediately my family and I dropped the books we were going to spend money on, left and ordered the exact books (even hardcover rather than the paper back in this store) off Amazon for cheaper once we sat down to eat next door. And by the way, there were pictures of these books online when purchased so I don't understand the point of being that way to customers who were actually ready to spend money in your store. Will not be coming back to this store. Guarantee I wouldn't have had this issue in Barnes & Noble lol. read more

This is a cozy little shop that just makes you want to stay! The books are reasonably priced. There are used books a for as low as $0.10! The owner was amazing. She talked with my mother and I about her favorites and recommend great reads for my interests. The shop is just a nice place to be. read more

My friend is definately a nerd so she takes me to different book stores around town. Well I have to say this book store was very cute. The inside is pretty and laid out really well. I love the light blue walls and how cozy it feels inside. This bookstore sells used books for a reasonable price. In addition to the books, they also have other products that are made locally such as jewelry and bird feeders. Plus everyone at the store was super nice! read more

I don't usually write reviews but I tried this shop out while visiting Downtown Memphis on my 18th birthday. The shop owner is super kind and made my time Downtown very memorable. From recommending some of her favorite books to sharing interesting stories about the vintage finds she had in store, I felt like a guest in her home and she was wonderful host. She was even able to point out some great spots to eat and hang out in the area. This bookstore is well worth your visit.
