I visit 4 or 5 times a year & have gotten at least 30 "just what I was looking for" books & CD's from here. I am careful to buy only items that will be read or viewd more than once, or I would have to buy a new bookcase every year. Staff was quick to answer questions & give directions. May take half an hour (or so) to discover the ins and outs of the entire layout. Entire family should enjoy a visit. NOTE: The Germantown Library Friends Bookstore is smaller, but is my favorite library-related used bookstore in the Memphis area. I visit once or twice a week for all sorts of "modern" books & CD's at bargain prices, and for fine older books which often come up for sale. Have bought at least 150 books there this decade, some of which were absolute steals. It's a very inexpensive addiction.

You do have to dig a little bit to find the hidden gems, but it's worth it! I got a record and a book today for $1.10. I've also found brand-new hardbacks for no more than $4.00. Book lovers should definitely stop in.

I enjoyed my day exploring the books, I was helped by very nice employees who seem to love working there and I would happily return. They had some really good prices on journaling materials and other books were also marked down. I didn't find what I was looking for but I did discover so much more.

We stopped by to kill some time before our movie, and I decided to grab some snacks before we leave. The cashier who took our order was not very friendly, and not surprising either given past experiences here. After waiting for a bit, our bakery items still hadn't been handed to us so I went to check. One of the baristas (I believe her name was Courtney?) didn't acknowledge me at first and curtly asked if I had already ordered. I explained that we had a movie in 10 minutes and just needed our bakery items. Instead of simply grabbing them for me, she responded with a rude attitude saying orders are processed in the order received. I would understand if I had ordered a drink but I was just waiting on cookies and a brownie, something that takes zero effort to grab. The interaction could have been handled much better and unfortunately this level of service seems to be the norm here. That being said, aside from the unfriendly baristas, this Barnes & Nobles is clean and well organized.

I bought a $100 item for my daughter two days earlier and had the receipt still on me so l asked if I could essentially price match. Really a yes or no answer. I asked if I could purchase the item today on sale and then return it with the previous receipt. Again, yes or no is all I needed. Briana loudly and looking obviously annoyed asked me twice to explain what I was asking. Then said "for all I know you could be lying. You might not even have the item at home. You could have found the receipt in the parking lot." People were looking. She made a big deal embarrassing me over a simple yes or no question. I did not need her to accommodate my request but simply needed her to have good customer service and not cause a scene while stating I'm dishonest. I decided to purchase the item on sale since it was a big percentage off and worth the work of me going home and getting the original purchase to return. However Brianna alerted the cashiers about me and I was confronted when I went to check out. I felt purposely humiliated by her. When I told the lady at the cashier I was simply going to purchase the item, the lady was kind and extremely accommodating but I was disgusted that somehow in the long line of people I was identified as someone to question when I went to check out. Absolutely horrible experience and I hope Brianna is fired.
