It was so incredibly delicious that I had to find the food truck and come back. I followed their instagram since there's no brick and mortar place and this was at their green hills location. I love that you can preorder it by texting them and it'll be freshly made and ready when you get there. I had a pesto pizza in the past I loved, but for this day, they didn't have it and recommended the four cheese pizza and they would drizzle pesto for me on top. So light and good!! Eat it fresh! Their menu changes depending on the fresh ingredients they have. This is probably one of my favorite pizza in Nashville!!

I don't know how Flour and Forge got on my radar. It was certainly before they got as mainstream…read more(?) as they are now. I know that's obnoxious to write but in my head I am still breaking news, not piling on. In any event, there's a reason why so many people have such good things to say about F&F. They're the real deal. Unlike many food trucks in Nashville, F&F advertised their location. So, on an unusually warm Friday night in late winter, I decided to venture over to Elmington Park and treat myself. Despite my best efforts, I arrived close to their closing time. I was afraid I was out of luck for this artisan goodness but the nice lady in the truck smiled at me, took my order and had me wait for what they were whipping up. As the sun set, I hung out in my car and waited for the electric buzz of happiness. After an appropriate wait, I buzzed, picked up my grub and headed home. Because I'm fancy, I poured myself a glass of cabernet sauvignon. Because I'm not classy, I left the pizza in the box rather than put it on a plate. At first appearance, my bbbq chicken pizza wasn't that large. This isn't a large meat-lover's from Domino's. This is artisan pie. The crust was fluffy, interesting in texture and flavorful (on its own) in taste. The pie, while small, was packed with flavor. I could tell these were choice ingredients I was eating. It was a bbq pizza so that means a bbq sauce base -- but to the bbq, cilantro was a present (not dominant) ingredient. It made each bite unique. This was not your usual bbq chicken pizza. Atop the sauce was a gouda/mozzarella blend that perfectly suited the sauce. Honestly, the pizza would have been good just like that. The marinated chicken (seasoned, not dry), bacon and onions added to the new spin on an old favorite. I enjoyed every bite. The fatty inside me wanted more but I can understand the restraint inherent within 'artisan.' That said, I wouldn't turn down a bigger pie. Like I said: classy.

The staff is always great to work with. The first time we ordered the steak, Gouda Mac & cheese and their brownie. The servings were large enough for leftovers. Everything was packaged great and they were delivering at the time. The second time we had salmon, Mac & cheese, salad with goat cheese and ordered the brownie. The salmon was so good and it comes with this amazing sauce. Mac & cheese is great. One of my faves is the salad with goat cheese and really can be a meal in itself. They forgot our brownie but gave us two cake pops and a cookie. Cookie was fantastic. We are not cake pop fans but it was good. They now offer pick up and it was super easy. Highly recommend ordering from here.

Wanted to love. Hoped I'd love it. I didn't love it. Actually, I didn't even like it…read more Went in hungry around 2:00. It's a counter service joint; you walk up, order, and then someone runs the food to your table. First off, they asked for a point of service tip; that bugs me when I'm ordering my own food at the counter and fetching my own drinks. The menu is fairly standard for a southern BBA joint; brisket, pulled pork, ribs, turkey, chicken. I am generally suspicious of any place that offers chopped brisket. Brisket is meant to be sliced and enjoyed as a slab of meat, not as a pile of hash. So, the chopped brisket sandwich was out for me. I asked if the brisket platter would be served as slices, and they assured me it was, so I ordered brisket with two sides. They recommended the beans and the Mac 'n cheese, so that's what I went with. They also asked me if I wanted the meat lean, marbled, or half and half; I took that as a good sign, and asked for marbled. They food came out in about 5 mins; just enough time for me to head to the soda fountain and fill my own cup. Maybe they should tip me? On the plus side, the portions were pretty large. I'm guessing that the served at least 6-8 ounces of brisket, and the individual sides were pretty large as well. On the other hand, whoever sliced the brisket simply didn't know what they were doing. They sliced it WITH the grain, producing slices full of stringy meat. Stringy meat that was hard to cut with the plastic cutlery provided. I find it hard to believe that anyone who regularly serves BBQ brisket doesn't know to cut the meat against the grain. The meat appeared to feature a nice bark; however, on further exploration, a) the bark was so tough that it couldn't be cut as all with the plastic cutlery, and b) when I tore into it with my fingers and ate a piece, it had no taste. Not even a basic Texas salt and pepper rub could be detected. A large portion of tasteless, poorly cut meat does no one any favors. The beans were a little underdone; IMHO, that's far better than mushy, overcooked beans. However, they, too, had no flavor. No spice, nada. The mac and cheese was shells in a white cheese sauce. Strike 3; zero flavor for the sauce. I don't know how you can make cheese sauce without flavor, but they managed to do so. I have never, ever thrown as much food away at a a BBQ joint than I did today. What a shame. Not recommended, not even a little bit. Try Martin's or Edley's; if you prefer a chain, Mission BBQ will do you much better than Hogwood.
