I don't know how Flour and Forge got on my radar. It was certainly before they got as mainstream (?) as they are now. I know that's obnoxious to write but in my head I am still breaking news, not piling on. In any event, there's a reason why so many people have such good things to say about F&F. They're the real deal. Unlike many food trucks in Nashville, F&F advertised their location. So, on an unusually warm Friday night in late winter, I decided to venture over to Elmington Park and treat myself. Despite my best efforts, I arrived close to their closing time. I was afraid I was out of luck for this artisan goodness but the nice lady in the truck smiled at me, took my order and had me wait for what they were whipping up. As the sun set, I hung out in my car and waited for the electric buzz of happiness. After an appropriate wait, I buzzed, picked up my grub and headed home. Because I'm fancy, I poured myself a glass of cabernet sauvignon. Because I'm not classy, I left the pizza in the box rather than put it on a plate. At first appearance, my bbbq chicken pizza wasn't that large. This isn't a large meat-lover's from Domino's. This is artisan pie. The crust was fluffy, interesting in texture and flavorful (on its own) in taste. The pie, while small, was packed with flavor. I could tell these were choice ingredients I was eating. It was a bbq pizza so that means a bbq sauce base -- but to the bbq, cilantro was a present (not dominant) ingredient. It made each bite unique. This was not your usual bbq chicken pizza. Atop the sauce was a gouda/mozzarella blend that perfectly suited the sauce. Honestly, the pizza would have been good just like that. The marinated chicken (seasoned, not dry), bacon and onions added to the new spin on an old favorite. I enjoyed every bite. The fatty inside me wanted more but I can understand the restraint inherent within 'artisan.' That said, I wouldn't turn down a bigger pie. Like I said: classy. read more

My job catered flour and forge pizza for lunch and the truck came making fresh pizza. They have unique flavors and toppings and the woodfired style definitely comes out on the pizza. It was so incredibly delicious that I had to find the food truck and come back. I followed their instagram since there's no brick and mortar place and this was at their green hills location. I love that you can preorder it by texting them and it'll be freshly made and ready when you get there. I had a pesto pizza in the past I loved, but for this day, they didn't have it and recommended the four cheese pizza and they would drizzle pesto for me on top. So light and good!! Eat it fresh! The Velvet Revolver is so freaking good, I haven't been able to try their other amazing looking and sounding pizzas, made of impressive ingredient combos, but now that they will be in Hermitage & Old Hickory more regularly, I hope to break from my food obsession. This is a very cool looking food truck serving some delicious Artisan Pizzas. We were at an event in Franklin and this truck was there so I grabbed a slice of Cheese Pizza. I've had this truck before, but this is my first review on it. The truck has a glass front that they open up depending on the weather. You can see them inside forming the fresh dough and get a view of the 7ft. diameter Mugnani wood fired oven. The women that took my order were very friendly and speaking with all of their customers. The pizza was fresh and took about 4 minutes to come out. The Pizza slices are large and the crust is foldable like a New York style. The crust isn't thick or thin--It's in the middle as far as thickness goes, but it's DELICIOUS !!! They do offer catering with a Pizza Buffet style and offer Gluten Free and Vegan options. If your out and about and see this truck you will thank yourself for stopping and grabbing a slice. read more

Food Truck Wednesday has become a staple at our office and the most excitement had during the week...and it gets even better when we learn that Flour and Forge will be slinging pies for the office! I have enjoyed Flour and Forge on multiple occasion and a couple of events. The staff are always super friendly, professional and helpful...along with passionate about pies, which is evident when you ask about the pizzas or process. All of my experiences with Flour and Forge have been with a buffet set up of their Standard Artisan Pizzas. While all are tasty, the Velvet Revolver is absolute perfection in pizza form! Marinara, mozzarella, dollops of ricotta, pepperoni topped with arugula and a hot honey drizzle...OH MY GOSSSSSHHHHH. So good! In addition to the standard options, they also offer premium pizzas, salads, dessert pizzas and charcuterie boards. Wow! Not only did the pizza live up to the hype, it exceeded the hype! The crust on this pizza is by far the best crust I have ever experienced in my life. And I have eaten a LOT of pizza all around the world. The crust has a perfect wood-fired "crunch" on the outside, is ever so slightly gooey (in the best way) on the inside, and is perfectly fluffy. Absolutely amazing. The toppings were also top notch. For my first (of many to come!) visit I opted for the recommendation of the Velvet Revolver pizza. The pepperoni were fantastic, flavorful and just a little spicy. The honey added a nice sweet touch. Everything else was fresh and tasty. The staff were also fantastic, friendly and quick to offer suggestions and answer questions, all with a smile. When I finished my pizza I was tempted to get another to go, it was that good. But I'm trying to behave (a little) on the food front so I'll wait until next time to try some of their other pizza options. I can't wait! Being a food truck (and a really cool one at that) I highly recommend following them on Instagram to stay updated on where they'll be when. Flour and Forge food truck started coming to Franklin Tuesdays in August. We have now gone on Tuesdays more and 10 times they serve numerous varieties every Tuesday. The Dank Williams , Velvet Revolver , BBQ Chicken , Ultimate Hawaiian and Garlic Combo are very different and Fantastic. The Supreme , Garlic Chicken and Buffalo Chicken are also GREAT. I hired Derek to cater our wedding. He was responsive, professional, and accommodating to all of our needs and questions. The food itself was absolutely phenomenal and my guests could not stop talking about how delicious and fresh the food was and how cool the truck looked in the venue itself. Few food trucks can say they visually add to the vibe of a wedding--Derek's does. We did the charcuterie board/pizza buffet/salad and everything was perfect. The team kept up with our hungry crowd and fed 125 guests within 30 minutes. We were on a tight budget for the wedding and couldn't have been more pleased with our choice of caterer.
