Originally we were just going to modify an existing upper cabinet so that we could add a new refrigerator underneath it and install new shelving in the pantry. We then decided to change all of the existing cabinet doors for new shaker doors and do lower cabinets and free floating shelves in the pantry so that everything would match. Since we were already this far into the process, we added pull out shelving in the existing kitchen cabinet boxes which now makes it easier to access items on these shelves. I was most impressed with how Rick was able to install infills on both sides of the microwave to make it look like it was part of the kitchens original cabinets. Rick is by far the best one of the best subcontractors that we've had work on our home, and being a commercial general contractor myself, that says a lot. We have been thrilled with the entire process and would not hesitate to hire him again should we have additional projects in the future. Chris was always punctual from day 1 of our consultation (in this day and age where everyone seems to arrive 2 hours after they say they will, this was huge for us working folks), did what he said he was going to do and kept up in the loop regarding the time line. The end result was even more spectacular than the sketch. We appreciated that Chris sets a high standard for himself and when the lighting he added wasn't to his liking at his workshop, he informed us of this and did what needed to be done to order other lights. Install was a breeze since the cabinets were built outside of our house and therefore we didn't need to take any days off of work. We're very, very happy with our great room built in and would highly recommend this company. If you're looking for punctual, upstanding people who put quality and consideration first and foremost, they're a good fit.

Chris worked with her to redesign the room. He let her know exactly what to expect ( cool, because she was really nervous/obsessing about the whole project) and then delivered and installed a new wall of storage. She got cabinets, drawers, a closet and even a window seat (!) and it all happened exactly when he said it would. It looks fantastic, and it's all really functional. That room went from blah to beautiful. The attention to detail in the cabinetry really made the room....It's now my favorite room in her house which is saying a lot because I really like her house. Now I kinda want to redo my house. I wonder how far Chris is willing to travel? Pictures to follow.

They…read morewere a reference from my Contractor and the fact they were a small business, I wanted to give them support. Initially the experience was good as the cabinets looked good. However, within the first couple of years, we noticed that the quality of the cabinets were starting to slowly deteriorate. One of the issues we started seeing was the paint started chipping and flaking off easily. Unfortunately, they only offer 1year warranty on their cabinets so we just lived with it. (We had 20 plus years original cabinets previously and did not encounter this type of issue.) So over 8 years now, I figured it's time to get these cabinets re-finished. So I decided to reach out California Custom Cabinets first thinking I was a prior customer and they might be able to provide the service or at least some guidance before I reached out to a painting company. I called the owner Kent and spoke to him on the phone and he asked me to send him some photos. I did that but from then on he just ignored my texts and calls. All I wanted was a little bit of help to see what the best route I should go and if they could provide that support if I paid. The fact that they were unwilling to even respond to a customer that had spent ~20k for cabinets with them, was very disappointing. I could buy cabinets at KZ for 1/3 the cost and they would probably hold up just as well but at least I know they will provide after sale support and answer a phone call. Overall I would give the cabinets a 3 star but the support 1 star unfortunately. After just completing a home remodel from my mom's house, I found going the custom cabinet route was over-rated. There are ton of options in the bay area with good looking PreFabs that have better quality and half the cost. This is my experience, hope this helps someone.

5 stars in every way. Long read, here is a detailed review…read more We contacted Mike in mid 2021 for a major job. Very large kitchen in a historic San Francisco home. This was not a $20k or 30k job - it was much bigger. So we had to be absolutely sure of the craftsmanship, the customer service, and more. It had to be fully custom and absolutely world class quality to fit the quality of the home and kitchen remodel. Summary - they delivered beyond my absurdly high expectations. From the very start, my designer had a good feeling about Mike - he was very upfront and transparent, and his whole team was full of nice people. Shelly is very responsive and helpful even with the basic things - you can tell right away they care a lot about attention to detail and to customer service. We hired Mike over 5 others we considered, and he was the most expensive bid actually (not by too much, by about 5% more than the 2nd highest and about 10% more than the lowest). Hiring Dickinson Cabinetry proved to be one of the very best decisions we made in our 1 year long remodel. In the middle of supply chain issues and Covid, Mike was always honest about the timeline. It was a bit longer than I would have liked but that was no fault of Mike's - everything was delayed. But Mike was honest and helpful and level headed about it all. Then came the product and install date. Mike's team, led by Raul, came by for delivery right on time in the morning and let me just tell you - the QUALITY of these cabinets and the wood island is absolutely obvious. The craftsmanship is superb. If you know nothing about cabinets, even then it's obvious. That's the great thing about great things - everyone can tell it's great! Now here is where it starts to get really amazing. We had a few issues and changes requested. Joe was the man here - he was super helpful along with being such a nice guy. He never got annoyed at my small requests and it was clear Joe & Mike wanted my family to be 110% happy. Antonio came by to do touch up work and is a very patient and talented guy. He must have come back 4 times - each time with a smile on his face and endless patience to get it perfect as I wanted it. Antonio did a great job fixing up every little nook and cranny I needed help with - just an awesome job. Some other cabinet makers might make nice cabinets. The Hyatt has nice hotel rooms, too. Mike, Joe, Antonio, Raul, Shelly - they are like the Four Seasons. Every little detail is world class. I have enjoyed every conversation I have had with every member of this team because everyone is just so nice and customer focused and patient. Along with the cabinets being a work of art themselves oozing with quality. If you are considering Dickinson Cabinetry, my strong opinion is you would be making a big mistake if you picked another cabinet maker. Thank you so much Mike, Joe, Antonio, Raul, Shelly!
