5 stars in every way. Long read, here is a detailed review. We contacted Mike in mid 2021 for a major job. Very large kitchen in a historic San Francisco home. This was not a $20k or 30k job - it was much bigger. So we had to be absolutely sure of the craftsmanship, the customer service, and more. It had to be fully custom and absolutely world class quality to fit the quality of the home and kitchen remodel. Summary - they delivered beyond my absurdly high expectations. From the very start, my designer had a good feeling about Mike - he was very upfront and transparent, and his whole team was full of nice people. Shelly is very responsive and helpful even with the basic things - you can tell right away they care a lot about attention to detail and to customer service. We hired Mike over 5 others we considered, and he was the most expensive bid actually (not by too much, by about 5% more than the 2nd highest and about 10% more than the lowest). Hiring Dickinson Cabinetry proved to be one of the very best decisions we made in our 1 year long remodel. In the middle of supply chain issues and Covid, Mike was always honest about the timeline. It was a bit longer than I would have liked but that was no fault of Mike's - everything was delayed. But Mike was honest and helpful and level headed about it all. Then came the product and install date. Mike's team, led by Raul, came by for delivery right on time in the morning and let me just tell you - the QUALITY of these cabinets and the wood island is absolutely obvious. The craftsmanship is superb. If you know nothing about cabinets, even then it's obvious. That's the great thing about great things - everyone can tell it's great! Now here is where it starts to get really amazing. We had a few issues and changes requested. Joe was the man here - he was super helpful along with being such a nice guy. He never got annoyed at my small requests and it was clear Joe & Mike wanted my family to be 110% happy. Antonio came by to do touch up work and is a very patient and talented guy. He must have come back 4 times - each time with a smile on his face and endless patience to get it perfect as I wanted it. Antonio did a great job fixing up every little nook and cranny I needed help with - just an awesome job. Some other cabinet makers might make nice cabinets. The Hyatt has nice hotel rooms, too. Mike, Joe, Antonio, Raul, Shelly - they are like the Four Seasons. Every little detail is world class. I have enjoyed every conversation I have had with every member of this team because everyone is just so nice and customer focused and patient. I ordered a custom bookshelf at Dickinson Cabinetry last year. I loved how quickly they always responded me, and top of anything, the quality of the bookshelf they made! I ordered a bookshelf which fits the entire wall of my study and now every single guest who visits my house is wowed by its outcome. The owner, Michael was the first one who replied to my inquiry which I sent to five different companies through Yelp while some didn't reply after a week. When I visited his shop and factory, the carpenters were working very responsibly and all the products seemed beautiful and cared to their details. I also loved the receptionist, Shelly. She was always very precise and kind. Any questions were answered right away! After the whole bookshelf was installed, I wanted to add some more holes to adjust the height of each shelf. They sent a worker right away and the job was done as quickly as possible. No additional payment. No question asked. And for those who are doing remodeling the whole house, you will be surprise to find out that some companies aren't always responsible to what they once said. Delayed finish dates, additional costs, and no show up on the appointment dates. You don't need to worry about those things with Dickinson Cabinetry. You can have a good night sleep. read more

We needed a small vanity for our smallest bathroom, but the prefab cabinets were so tiny that they didn't maximize use of the limited space in our bathroom. So we contacted Dickinson Cabinetry for a custom cabinet. Truly customized. We got to choose the exact size, type of wood, stain, number of drawers, you name it. Mike's team Rob who takes care of staining and other cabinet related drawings is very professional and accurate in his job. Shelly who manages quotes, email communication is sweet, excellent and prompt. Dickinson Cabinetry maintain superior quality as well as great customer service. They reach their dead line prompt and they are willing to correct any issues we find. We didn't have an issue other than a broken cabinet door as some worker broke it accidentally. Dickinson cabinetry fixed it and sent the new one just in time before our house warming. They have a vast selection and choices of stains and colors moreover they can match any color. They created all of my kitchen cabinets several years ago. Just a couple of months ago, they built a custom vanity for my master bathroom. The compliments I get on both the kitchen and bathroom cabinets never end. I can also comment on how well they hold up, since the kitchen cabinets were installed approx. 5 years ago. They really look pretty much brand new. Not one issue to report. The process of making decisions on design and color is challenging for me (and many people). Their service, suggestions, support and patience are endless. They truly go above and beyond to make sure their customers are happy. Another couple of points to make is that they completed both projects before the commitment date and stayed within budget. If fact, for the most recent bathroom project, I changed my mind on a couple of things after the initial quote, and they proactively adjusted the quote down. I didn't even have to ask about that. We got a quote from Mike Dickinson, and the quote came in similar to Home Depot (mid range) cabinets. If you have a chance to visit Dickinson's workshop, you will know what "custom" cabinet actually means! The finished product was immaculate!! Why would you pay for semi-custom cabinets when you can get custom cabinets? We wanted white cabinet kitchen, and not sure how many of you know this, painted white cabinets are actually harder to achieve than wood grain stained cabinets. We searched high and low with different vendors for cabinet maker other than Home Depot, and Dickinson cabinetry was one of the better one with a more reasonable pricing. The other plus for Dickinson cabinetry is that they are like a mom and pop store, so everytime you call, you get the man you want to talk to :) rather than some customer service person that you have to go around to get to the point. Becuase my cabinets are custom, I don't necessary have to go with the standard 12", 24" size. In my island, there are non-standard cabinet that are 9" and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg. If there is a heart to any house, it has to be the kitchen. It's where everything happens, the pulse of life flows in and out of this one room. When we started our remodel, we decided that we wanted our kitchen to be inviting, open and bright. It would need to be highly functional for both serious cooking but also serious entertaining. When we told our contractor, JTK Builders (go check out that review too) about our grand vision, he brought in Dickinson Cabinetry out of San Jose. We scoped out the kitchen very early in the process as Mike and his team need time to craft his lovely cabinets. Mike met with us to get a sense of how we'd use the kitchen; he thought through workflow, positioning of things like spice racks and counter work-space. He mocked up multiple versions of the kitchen plan for us until we found one that was ideal. The day of installation, his team showed up in a Dickinson truck, each cabinet gently wrapped in blankets for secure transport. His build material and quality is excellent; the materials were so solid it took 5 guys just to bring our island in! Once all was installed, all we could say was 'Wow'. The cabinets are well finished, durable, functional and absolutely stunning. One thing to also keep in mind when you are contemplating cabinets; with custom cabinetry, you are getting something tailor-made for your space; the fit and finish is going to be better than semi-custom and far better than box-store grade stuff. What's more, you can count on continuous post-sale service; touch ups, door adjustments, etc from the crew that built them. And before you balk at the price of custom cabinetry, think about this; these cabinets will be opened, closed, slid out, slid in, banged around over and over again every day for the better part of a lifetime; do you want junk in there? Mike designed, and built custom cabinetry for my kitchen remodel. Mike came up with a thoughtful and esthetically leasing design. The construction of doors and drawers, even the shelves and pullout trays is extremely solid, detailed-oriented and with an unbelievable precision. Even my contractor and countertop installer commented on how well these cabinets are built. During the design precess, I was second guessing myself, and changed my mind multiple times. Mike handled all my questions with grace, patience and absolute professionalism. After the installation of the cabinets, there are a couple of minor issues. Rob sent his crew over to my house almost immediately to resolve the issues. After the kitchen is complete, a crew came over as they said they would to adjust doors, touch up a few doors and drawers due to the inevitable nature of construction. The crew (Robert and Anthony ) did an amazing job making everything as good as it should be. The cabinets look absolutely stunning in my new kitchen. Dickinson Cabinetry is not the cheapest. But for the price I paid, and for the quality of cabinets and after sale service, and I will definitely use them again for my future home improvement projects. read more

We hired Mike to help us rebuild our kitchen. Our kitchen cabinetry's quality is really high which made our kitchen extremely beautiful. However, it was hard to work with Mike because we rarely would receive communication from him regarding the project progress or delivery date. It became a bit of a challenge. The only way we would know the progress was through our contractor. If you want high quality cabinets, I would recommend Mike. The best way to sum up our experience with Mike Dickinson and team is that he truly made our kitchen dreams come true and was a pleasure to work with in the process. We initially investigated several custom cabinet makers, and Mike stood out to us from the others right off the bat - we had a crazy idea to have a dining table that could extend (e.g. roll/slide out) from an island, but look sturdy and classy. Most of the other cabinet makers thought we were crazy (understandably), but Mike's first reaction was intrigue and excitement at the challenge. My husband and I were very impressed with the quality of his work as we toured their workshop, and we knew that he would be a great selection. Sure enough, it was a great choice. Throughout the plan development process, we really enjoyed working with Mike for his demeanor, vision and knowledge, opinion/honesty, and patience(!). We like organization and Mike helped us think through those components and many other considerations during the plan design phase so that we would know exactly what we were getting and how we would use the space on a day-to-day basis. In the end, Mike, Rob, and his team not only met but surpassed our expectations, even given our crazy ideas. We now have an absolutely gorgeous full custom cabinetry kitchen inclusive of an island with an expanding completely gorgeous planked walnut table. It feels like the highest quality job kitchen we've ever been in, and we know it would not have been possible had we worked with any other contractor.
