They performed an annual inspection of the fire sprinkler system. It was easy to set up the appointment and Chris arrived on time. Chris is very knowledgeable and helpful - pointing out various risk (and things to mitigate those risks) that were above the scope of the sprinkler system. I will use SOCO Fire again and recommend them. read more

I opened my business 16 years ago and I've used South Coast Fire Protection to service my fire extinguishers annually for about that long. I've never had to schedule a maintenance or even think about scheduling one. They show up every September like clockwork and know exactly where every fire extinguisher is kept in the building so nobody even needs to show him around. God forbid they close down because it would honestly never even occur to me to keep up on the maintenance since I never have to! Thank you for being affordable, reliable and providing great service! read more

GET OTHER QUOTES FIRST !!! I paid $536.98 for a pressure relief valve replacement that took 20 minutes and a valve that costs less than $30.00. I got another quote from California Fire Protection and Backflow for $395.00, unfortunately I had already committed to South Coast Fire Protection. You can read the ridiculous attempt to justify their actions below... Danielle, I was floored by your $635.00 quote just to show up. But it's a safety issue and I get that you can charge whatever you want. At your request, I sent you a video of the parts needing replacement. Apparently your tech never saw the video and said when he showed up oh, I wish I would have had a photo. I don't think I have the right sized part. To charge that kind of money and not show up prepared just adds more frustration. When I spoke to Taran Friday by phone to be sure I didn't need to address the issue immediately, we talked about the leaking pressure relief valve and he asked if it was the flip lever type and I said yes. He said that you guys would replace it with a better adjustable pressure relief valve Your tech today said he did not have the right sized adjustable pressure relief valve and installed another flip type relief valve. I questioned him and he said the flip type was just as good and easier for future service. Hi Mark, Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience. I understand how important it is to feel confident in the service you're receiving , and we are sorry if we let you down. Regarding the quoted labor amount of $635, our quotes are always based on a minimum charge that reflects the average time required for most fire sprinkler repairs. That said, we also recognize when a job takes less time than anticipated, and we always adjust the final invoice accordingly. This job has not yet been invoiced, but the final amount will be reduced from what was originally quoted. We did receive the video you sent late Friday, though it wasn't reviewed with the technician prior to the visit. For that we apologize; and while we aim to share all available information, our technicians ultimately rely on their on-site assessment to determine the most appropriate solution. Since this was added as a priority service call while the technicians were already in the field, they had to rely on the parts they carry on their truck. We only use components that are up to code and fully compliant with NFPA standards. While we understand the first technician you spoke with recommended a different valve, it's not uncommon for technicians to take different approaches depending on the specific conditions they encounter. Both valve types are valid options, and our priority is always to provide a safe, effective, and serviceable solution tailored to the situation. We apologize if this was not communicated as clearly as it should have been on site, but please rest assured that we are confident the technician made the right decision. We truly appreciate your business and your trust. If you have any questions or would like to discuss the final invoice once it's ready feel free to give me a call. read more

I had a leaking fire sprinkler. I called to get it fixed and I was asked to send photos and they would send a quote. I did that right away. I waited 2 days and no quote. I called they again they said they would send it. I waited another day: no quote! I called again the person I spoke with said she thought it had been sent. It had not. The quote was sent shortly after the call. They are very expensive. They charge a 3 hour minimum. I called another company, and they fixed the leak same day for half the price! read more

Having been using South Coast Fire for over 25 years. Amazing office staff. Top Notch all around.

We have found South Coast Fire Protection is reliable, with friendly, informed and capable employees.

I first started communicating with South Coast Fire Protection on April 29th when I sent them a picture and a video of a broken pressure release valve that had been added to our sprinkler system (Claudia in the office requested that I send a video to show the problem). After not hearing back I sent another video on June 13th which showed we also had a broken gauge on the system (Claudia requested that I send another video to show this problem too). I received a call from Sean the owner that afternoon. We spoke about the 2 broken parts on our system he agreed to get me an estimate early the next week to fix them. I never received an estimate so I followed up with the company three more times on 7/10, 7/16, and 7/29. I spoke with Claudia in the office each time I called. She agreed to speak with Sean or Danielle and get me an estimate. On 7/29 I also spoke with Danielle who agreed to get me an estimate by the end of the day and I still haven't heard back from them. South Coast Fire Protection is local company who installed our system so my preference was to use them to fix it. It appears that they are not interested in fixing our system that they installed. read more

I called South Coast Fire Protection on Friday, August 6th, at the recommendation of a plumbing contractor I have used in the past. I was struggling with a wet spot in my master bedroom ceiling, and thinking it may be caused by my fire sprinkler piping, but I wasn't sure. The plumber said that South Coast specialized in fire sprinkler systems. I then followed up the phone conversation with some photos that I sent via email to the South Coast office administrator. She said in the phone call that she would share the photos with some crew guys, and get back to me, if not Friday, then on Monday. On Monday morning, August 9th, I sent a 2nd and 3rd email to South Coast, attaching some photos that showed a drip leak from a copper sprinkler pipe. I opened up the ceiling with a hole, tearing away the wet drywall, over the weekend. Since I had not heard back from South Coast, I placed another follow-up call on Monday, and spoke again to the office administrator, who confirmed receipt of all the photos, and assured me I was not forgotten. She was waiting on somebody to get an estimated cost quote for me. That was 50 hours ago, and three full business days from now, which does not even include Friday afternoon. There was a desire on my part to become a customer of South Coast Fire Protection. I have initiated all the contact. No original confirmation from them, and no response back to my estimate request. Some companies, when they get a small project they deem to be not worth their time, bid the job higher, to make it worth their time. South Coast, for whatever reason, just didn't respond. I assume they are busy, but why not communicate that, and at least display some semblance of courtesy to a potential customer? I would not recommend South Coast, and I didn't enjoy writing this review. But beware. read more

Beware, South Coast Fire Protection San Clemente charges a three hour minimum charge per service call. . Their reasoning is that their material costs have gone up. My water leak took less than 1:30 to repair. The fire switch was ruined by the leak but they don't carry that $179 dollar part, requiring a second service call. Replacement for that took 1:15. In fairness, the 6 hour charge was reduced to 4:30 total. read more

I thought I was SO screwed! I broke the water valve supporting my home's fire sprinkler system. I personally know some plumbers and called them however none were certified to work on fire sprinkler systems. They estimated that I would probably pay hundreds of dollars for the repair due to the "specialty" nature of this type of plumbing. Anthony at South Coast Fire Protection responded to my call within 40 minutes of my call. In another 40 minutes he had repaired the line and installed a new valve. Then I braced myself for the bill. Relieved is a big understatement when I wrote the check for a fraction of what other plumbers had told me to expect to pay. Anthony was very friendly and personable. The work was done without a lot of drama. And the charge was very reasonable. I highly recommend them. read more

I had quite the unpleasant experience dealing with Sheryl, and thus reason for this 1-star review. At first, I dealt with an Eric, who became quite unresponsive. Then finaly I was referred to his wife, Sheryl. On initial contact with Sheryl, she seemed quite annoyed, even ornery that I was calling on her direct line - the number that her husband had given to me. Thereafter, Sheryl was consistently mean, cold, and really didn't care to help the project roll along any faster. Even after explaining the situation, she would not lift a finger to help things roll along. It almost seemed like all she cared about was getting a check. In fact - although I gave her my word that I would mail it - she would not schedule an inspection for us. This forced me to schedule an inspection on my own - and come to find out the job card was being held as ransom. Anyhow I did end up sending one of my guys 100+ miles to hand deliver that check. All in all, Sheryl made what should've been easy and straightforward, a very difficult and unpleasant experience - and I wouldn't even recommend my worst enemy to deal with her. On the flip side, Chris - who seemed quite annoyed and irritated at first really came through in the end. I feel he entered into this project that way due to Sheryl. He stuck it out and made it happen - something Sheryl was completely unwilling to do. For Chris - I'd give 4 stars. For Sheryl I'd give 0 if I could - but the average of the two would be 2 stars and this is how I chose my rating. read more

We had an issue with our sprinkler system and called South Coast Fire Protection to repair the issue. We always use local for home repairs and maintenance. We were impressed with their customer service and they came out the next day. The issue was fixed in 20 minutes and we were pleased with the result. However, when we received the invoice, it was nearly $700. I called to inquire and was told that the base fee for coming out is $450. The rest was parts. That seems astronomical to me for a service call. They also told me this is the standard rate for the industry. I was disappointed. This company came out dressed in a dirty tee shirt with a "tech" that looked stoned. Then he gave me a ridiculous price. I agreed to the price then he did have the knowledge of how to repair my fire sprinkler system! I had to call another local company and they showed up in a uniform in minutes. They were very experienced and performed the repair at almost half the cost! Stay away from South Coast Fire read more

I had South Coast come out to inspect my home fire sprinkler system just as a preventative measure. I had talked to a neighbor who had another company inspect after one of their sprinklers leaked and they had to replace all of the sprinklers at the cost of over $1,000. I was praying for a clean bill of health. All I had was one sprinkler head that was corroded but my bell wasn't working! I was told a price, which was minimal. When they came back to fix it the repair guy said that the bell sensitivity setting was just too low but that the bell does work so he fixed the setting. It cost me almost nothing. The reps and office staff were very honest and pleasant to work with. I would use them again (hope I don't have to!) and would recommend them to anyone. read more
