I really appreciate that! They also offer oil changes and other services so I'm going to take them up on it one of these days when I need the car maintenanced. The car wash was very reasonably priced ($7 for a basic, $9 includes tire/rim cleaning and a couple deluxe offerings) and they offer free vacuuming! That's a BIG WIN to me! read more

I have been going to get gas here for years so I can drive through the car wash despite gas being more expensive compared to other nearby locations. The quality of soap they use now must be cheaper and is TERRIBLE! The soap leaves a dirty residue and does not dry spot free like it used to. I even tried the higher tier options and my car is still gross afterwards. If anything, my black luxury SUV looks worse after going through the wash with the dirt incompletely rinsed off compounded with soap residue. It smelled like sulfur going through the car wash today, so maybe the water being used is standing water or dirty reclaimed water. The sulfur smell literally smelled like rotten eggs permeating through my car vents....disgusting. I would find another beach city car wash nearrby and save yourself the need to drive to another car wash right afterwards. It is too bad the quality has gone way downhill. STAY AWAY! read more

The only reason I get gas here is to get a car wash too. I will not be doing either ever again. I paid for a premium wash. There is still dirt and dust on the hood. I asked if I could run it thru again. The gas attendant or owner whoever he is, is rude. He said it's not going to come off. So this isn't a car wash. It's just splashing water on your car. He works there! He tells me to leave to get off the phone, roll down my window and I say no so he tries my door handle!! This gas station is conveniently located at the crossroads of my morning commute. In the city of Redondo Beach, it serves as my stop for gas and refreshments. The gas prices are comparable to other stations in the area, and they always have my favorite iced tea in stock. They also have the small chocolates I used to buy at my old (now defunct) study cafe in Westwood. These two items add an energy boost in a time when I am juggling increased workloads in both business and school. The staff here is friendly, and the place is kept clean. They must have plenty of customers because they sure don't put any effort into customer service. First, they view expiration dates differently than the rest of us. I went to the station on July 31 to use my car wash ticket that was marked Expires 7/31/2020. Unlike everywhere else I've ever been, the date the ticket expires is not included in the period you can use it. I see nothing on that ticket (see photo) that would alert me to use it by July 30. I had to go inside, & wait in line, to learn what the problem was. We went back & forth a bit because I was surprised the ticket wasn't good. I finally told him I was going to complain. He laughed and said something about who would I complain to. Clearly it wasn't anything he cared about which would indicate Shell has little leverage over its franchisees. Then he told me to move along so he could take care of his customers. If you're not putting money in his pocket right then, you're not a customer. That sealed it for me. DO NOT GO TO THIS CARWASH UNLESS YOU WANT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF DAMAGE DONE TO YOUR CAR. I went last Saturday and the track was broken inside the car wash, causing my car to be pushed into the contraption that holds one of the lower brushes in place. On this contraption are 2 screws, which, due to having my car pushed into them, scraped the entire side of my car. I then went to inform the attendant, assuming they would naturally be very concerned and shut the car wash down. Instead, they did the opposite. They denied that the car wash caused the damage. Just a blanket immediate statement of denial. I finally got the attendant to investigate further and he brought out a tape measure and we measured the height of the scratch and then went into the car wash to find that the scratch was absolutely caused by the carwash because the contraption with the 2 screws protruding was at the exact same height. To my utter shock, they still denied that they caused the scratch. The attendant and I then went and looked at other cars that were currently exiting the car wash and of course, found an identical scratch to mine on the first car we saw come out. Still the attendant denied that the car wash was damaging cars. Upon imploring them to shut down the car wash and address the issue, they gave me a card for the manager and said to contact her. I was so disturbed at the thought that other cars were still going through and that their cars would get damaged that I went to the line of cars waiting to enter and told them what had happened to me and that they may not want to go through since they could possibly have their car damaged as well. A few people were very concerned by this and got out of the line. This apparently freaked the attendant out, so he came up to me and said that if I didn't leave, they would call the police!! Since I only came to this car wash because it was quick and I had already spent about 45 minutes dealing with this, I left and called the manager and proceeded to have one of the most unprofessional and condescending conversations I've ever had with a business. I was accused of lying and in response to the photos she asked me to text her, she said she couldn't see anything. Realizing that she was taking the same tact as the attendant - defensive, gaslighting and hostile, I decided to go see if I could just have the scrape buffed out and be done with it but when I went to the car detailing place, they told me the scrape was too deep to buff out and I needed to go to an Auto Body Shop. I got an estimate to have the damage repaired from the Auto Body shop and it came out to nearly $2,000 and will take a week to fix, requiring a rental car. When I texted her the estimate, it was more of the same unintelligible, rude responses. To pay $13 to have your car seriously damaged and then have to take all of the time and money to try to get it fixed is one thing but to experience the belligerent customer service afterwards is a whole other level of disappointing. If anyone else was there on Saturday 7/27 and has damage you can contact the manager, Nicole Madani but honestly, good luck! You will likely be met with outright laughter at your plight, called a liar and will get nowhere. How this immature, and clearly, unqualified person became a manager is beyond me. TLDR, just go to another car wash... it's not worth the risk that they haven't fixed it! read more

The other day I went to the Starbucks near my home and it was closed for some strange reason, then I remembered there was coffee at the Shell station just a few blocks away. I normally don't get coffee at gas stations but I had my mind set on a cup of joe. What I found out is that it is no longer Fox Hollow coffee here but (IIRC) Paulo. There is a full service coffee house inside the station. I spoke to the owner and she put my name down for a free cup of coffee next time I come and she said that she is very particular about her coffee house. The coffee is only Italian, the flavorings are from France, she will not have those flavor packets like you find else where (that stuff is garbage anyways) AND she has fresh pastries and muffins that do not have trans fats AND are Kosher too. I had a non-fat latte and it was excellent! Don't be thinking it is going to be cheap because it is at a gas station because the prices are comparable to Starbucks but well worth it. I came by yesterday early evening and it was closed so I am assuming it is only open in the morning. read more

I really like that this station is just on the way as I embark on my long journey home. Gas prices are typically fair though it is on the prime cross streets of Artesia and Aviation. The commercials are refreshing. No, not really at all. They can be a bit annoying actually since they play the same thing every 45 seconds. Jeez, I know that machines don't have a conscience, but come on - I'm sure hey are tired of playing the same snippet over and over again. Even that doesn't take a 5 star review away from this place. It's not like EVERY OTHER GAS STATION in America doesn't do that. When I complained, the attendant snapped at me and said "that's what you get for a $10 wash". I informed him there may be a problem with the wash since the driver side was fairly dry. Do NoT use the car wash here. It caused damage to my daughters paint job. Went all the way to their insurance claim. The insurance said there absolutely is damage to the card paint job. It left a rainbow tint all over her car. The insurance guy said the mix was not diluted properly and can cause this. However insurance just came back and said because no one else complained that day they think she is lying and will not pay her claim. Your own damp towel dries off the car and picks up the dirt. When I am in a jam I go there and I always know I'll get a crummy wash. Wonder if the owners give a crap. This review is primarily for the car wash experience. I rarely fill my tank here due to the higher prices so typically top off and get the $10 wash. The attendant is very helpful in taping my cracked headlight cover and insure other components are intact. I like the post-wash cleanup bays with excellent suction vacuums and ease of access. I think the best part of the car wash is the music!! It is always the perfect beat to get you in sync with the arduous task of wiping windshields, bumpers, windows, mirrors, interiors and makes the job go much faster. Although I have a 20 year old vehicle, I prefer to have it look as brand spanking new as possible and this place has helped me achieve that goal. Of course the bi-annual mobile detail makes the biggest difference but for ten bucks I can extend that luster till the next appointment. High recommend for a fun experience that is actually productive and inexpensive! read more
