I'm so sorry that I have to write this review. After two years in a different state, I loved finding this dentist upon my return to Chicago because I had never had the opportunity in my life to support a woman-operated dental business, and that was meaningful to me.
Everything was going great for about six months. I pay at the desk after my visits and have great insurance. However, the way they handled the billing became increasingly deceptive. Initially, insurance payments were sent directly to the office; then, my insurance decided to start paying me directly. Initially, the dentist at South & West was covered, but then they had a "substitute" dentist, which I have never experienced in my entire life. I began heading to the dentist, unsure of who would see me, and suddenly, my insurance wasn't covering the dentist because they were no longer part of my plan. None of this was explained to me in advance when I scheduled the appointments.
I was on calls with both my dentist and the insurance provider on three separate occasions. South & West continues to send me payment warnings once a week, which seems like harassment, considering I have continued to make payments and contact them regularly to ensure the payments I receive from my insurance are given to them promptly. Not to mention, I was in their office at least once every three months. As soon as my insurance sends me a check, I call South & West for payment. When I called on two separate occasions to pay, they told me I would have to call when the "billing department" was in the office.
Long story short, of course, there are plenty of details, and the front office was vulgar to me at all times. When I would call Julisa to pay and ask for an explanation, she would say, "We have been over this before", in other words, bullying me and making me feel like I am the one who is causing problems. Mind you, I was a very regular customer. I receive 3-4 cleanings a year, have dental issues, and have brought my husband to the office as well, who will no longer be patronizing this business. I am returning to a dentist I was with for decades before moving.
It's sad because the hygienist and the actual dentist I initially chose to go to were excellent. The work is good, but you will be bullied about payment. Expected to make do with the explanations they want to give, and are harassed by the billing team for asking questions or waiting until insurance pays them with explanations. I have requested detailed receipts of services, but they refuse to provide them to me, yet they continue to send me random amounts via text and email that I am supposed to pay.
There are so many wonderful offices to choose from in this city, I urge you not to pick this one. Life is simply too short to deal with people who insist on being disrespectful and mistreating you. I have always had bad teeth, and a dentist has been a remarkably constant and vital person in my life for years. I have never had this experience with any dentist in my life. I have had numerous dental experiences. read more
