They hire new receptionist and they are so unprofessional and rude. They need to change these receptionist because they going to continue to loose more patients. This location is dirty, and the office staff is extremely incompetent. They also didn't inform us of a charge that wasn't going to be covered by insurance. After receiving a bill in the mail we spent weeks and numerous calls trying to speak with their office staff about the wrongful charge. After many promises they were going to call back they sent our bill to collections AFTER we already paid. If you want to go to a place that doesn't value its customer, will levy fictitious charges and then not call you back when you try to dispute this is the place for you. read more

Terrible experience, and after today will never be returning. In short - they shouldn't advertise as a pediatric dentistry - because they could not cater less to families with children. After 1.5 visits, we're done, and I hope this review saves someone else an ounce of trouble. On our first visit, I brought my son in for his first dental appointment at a little over one year as recommended just before the Christmas holiday. Rather than emailing forms in advance for completion, or offering any kind of easier means of doing so, they had me sit alone with a very active toddler in a non-child proofed waiting room with exposed outlets with Glade plugins, tempting Christmas displays, and other assorted hazards at eye level, and required that I fill out multiple medical history forms/consents with tiny font on LAMINATED PAPER with a DULL DRY ERASE MARKER. It was such an asinine task - there's no way anyone could possibly read what I wrote despite best efforts. When the incredibly stressful toddler wrestling scribble session was finally over, the dentist and hygenist were nice enough but the visit couldn't have lasted more than 10 minutes. The office continued to spam me via text bot to remind me that my son was due for his next checkup. Each time I tried to make an appointment, I was routed to their call center, which isn't part of the dental practice. It's easier to get in touch with an airline representative. When, by chance, I finally was able to get in contact with a human for his next checkup, the receptionist was nice enough and scheduled me an appointment for the next morning. I arrived a little late. My little guy was having a rough morning. Not a great excuse, but with Chicago rush hour traffic and a fussy 18 month old, it felt like a win when we showed up less than 10 minutes late after my GPS directed me to the wrong parking lot. After trekking all the way there, the receptionist informed me that they had a 10 minute late policy, that by the time she came out and met me (you need to buzz into the building) it was 8:11, and so we could not be seen that day. When I asked if she could make an exception, that I actually was not 10 minutes late, that I had to wait for her to meet me in the lobby which took several minutes, and that we'd be careful to avoid any delays going forward, she refused. The non-explanation? "We expect you to be 'here, here' at the time of your appointment." With a practice that supposedly caters to families with young kids, you'd think there'd be some flexibility, or at least an upfront warning on the parameters of the visit before such a draconian policy would be enforced. There's plenty of kind, responsive, accessible, and all-important when you've got little kid - FLEXIBLE - dentists out there, I'll be taking my business to them going forward. read more

Stay away from this dentist. I took my son here twice for cleanings and the staff was so awful, I decided to find another dentist. Two years later we still get bills from them and I've tried to call them and nobody ever returns my calls. I have now claimed them as fraud because I have no idea who they are servicing; it is definitely not my son. Totally committing fraud and billing people for services not rendered. read more

This place is a disgrace. Canceled my sons appt 3 times for lack of staff. He had an infected tooth that needed to come out. If you don't have dentists, don't take appointments. My son had to live in pain for months while they continued to cancel appointments. No notice, no texts. Very unprofessional. They should be shut down. read more

I went into Smiles Pediatric Dentistry today with my 3 year old son. The check in process was very fast. They asked me if there were any medical history updates or changes and I said no. I was unaware that I was supposed to report my son's speech delay. The dental assistant was very friendly and warm, she instantly tried to connect with my son. I explained that he might not be very cooperative because he was scared. She was very understanding. I helped her during the cleaning by laying Roman on my lap and holding his hands down. He didn't hit, didn't bite, didn't kick, he did however, cry. She completed the clean and the dentist came in. She introduced herself as Doctor Maria. It was not a warm or inviting introduction. She then immediately asked if my son had any delays. Firstly, she didn't call him by the correct name. Secondly, it wasn't a question is was more so a demand and accusation. I said yes, he has a speech delay I didn't know I had to mention that. She aggressively said that I have to tell them this and that I have to update the medical history. Again I was unaware of this. She then said, in a condescending way, "I see that he's still wearing a diaper." She then proceeded to ask me if he was tested for autism. This was very inappropriate and I don't believe it was respectful or her place to say this. She then asked if he was in therapy which I let her know that he is on a waitlist for speech therapy. She proceeded to tell me that he should be in school and that I am hindering his education. Then she said, "I don't know if you're doing everything that you're supposed to be doing!" This was completely inappropriate and judgmental. There are many different ways that she could've approached us. She was cold, rude, condescending, and disrespectful. I do not feel comfortable bringing my children to someone like this. I talked to the office manager who said that she understood me but these are things she has to ask. Basically she disregarded my concerns about the unprofessional manner that the dentist conducted herself. It was essentially her saying, too bad. When I mentioned the medical history form she said it didn't need to be updated, so again this form was never given to me or explained. I am very disappointed with the organization, communication and lack of empathy. I will not be returning. If your child is scared and acting like a worried 3 year old during a pandemic, don't take them to Smiles Pediatric Dentistry, because they will show no empathy and regard them as not "normal". read more

If I could leave ZERO STARS, that would be my choice. Smile Pediatric Dentistry is unorganized. My two children have not been able to get a cleaning for the last year. Every-time I have scheduled an appointment the office calls to reschedule/ cancel the appointment. I have taken off work to accommodate the appointment multiple times. I really fed with with the staffing and management. I have been coming here about 4 years and this past year has been the worst. Currently seeking a new pediatric dentist who is more reliable and who won't waste my time or money literally. I use time off, missing work for this to cancel the appointment. Kids not using the insurance I'm paying for. Please find another facility and save yourself the headache!!! read more

I recently brought my twin 2 year olds to the dentist for the first time. They historically hate all doctors appointments, and sadly the dentist was no exception. But I was beyond impressed at the relative smoothness of their check-up, even in light of their melt downs. The staff (especially Dr. Harvey) were professional, kind, and adept at tooth checking, cleaning, and parent education in the midst of crazy toddlers. The office is modern and clean. We were also in before our appointment time, seen right away, and out the door less than half an hour later! Super appreciated the timeliness and efficiency! Also, free parking :) read more

I loved them as a dentist, however, I recently moved and asked for my kids records to be sent to the new dentist. Despite signing all required paperwork, I have yet to get the records. I made over 5 calls across the course of a few days explaining when his appointment was and the need for the records. My son now has to get repeat X-rays at the new dentist because this office was so in organized they couldn't take care of it. The call center is not helpful, and doesn't even work at the dentist office. read more

My 5 year daughter was very nervous to go back to the dentist. She has not been the best patient and has allowed her anxiety get the best of her at previous appointments which resulted in attempted services. We came into to Smiles all the staff where friendly. Our dental assistant Tiffany got my daughter to take X-rays with ease no crying , she was patient and kind throughout the whole procedure. In comes Dr Rutherford she explained the services needed and what she wanted to begin with. She then spoke to my daughters and explained to her what would be happening, 45 minutes later we were done her teeth got some needed care. She was smiling and so was I , Dr Rutherford has miracles in her hands and brains. She was funny, kind, patient and a great strategist when working an ultra sensitive child.
