I also found the paperwork confusing and ended up paying so much more than I expected. I gave this place a high rating a few years ago, but at this time, Greed and selfishness is all…read morethis business seems to be about now. Allow me to elaborate: We have Cigna PPO dental and it's a pretty decent plan that allows us to visit any location even if they are out of network. So this place used to be in network with Cigna PPO which was great but then decided they were no longer to be in network with them, which is fine! I don't have a problem with that at all. The issue I do have is my Cigna PPO still allows me to visit this location and will pay sometimes 100% sometimes 80% or whatever, depending on the procedure. But Bright Smiles told me I have to pay EVERYTHING up front even though it may be covered by insurance and then I would be reimbursed after they determine what was and wasn't covered. I've never met any doctor or dentist who wouldn't just submit everything to insurance first and then send me a bill for the remainder after everything was processed. It's pure Greed. I'm very dissatisfied they went this route, I've had all my bills in the past with them always paid but now they won't provide any service unless I pay whatever they are asking and then after everything is cleared with insurance I must wait for reimbursement. I just think if you have PPO dental insurance bright smiles should submit everything to the insurance first and then after everything is settled then they should send you the remaining bill, if there even is one. Maybe I was told misinformation at which point please tell me and I will continue to bring my children here and change my review but so far I've spoken to 2 different people at the office and that's what I was told. Hoping to get a response on this. Thank you.

My main issue with them is that when I called to ask about transferring my kids service to them, they did not explain that they are out-of-network with all insurance. I asked specifically about my insurance, Delta Dental, and they said that yes, they would submit the claim for me and that my insurance would reimburse me. With my insurance, which is typically accepted, it was $120 for a cleaning. I called to ask about the discrepancy on what I was told before and how the billing worked out and was just told that they always tell everyone that they are out-of-network.

The absolute Worst dental experience of my Life! The only reason I feel comfortable given one star…read moreinstead of a -5, is because of the dental assistant. She was wonderfully, compassionate and apologetic. I was basically assaulted in the chair while I had instruments in my mouth. I can in for a dental emergency, a cracked tooth that was giving me significant pain. The dental assistant was kind and gracious while taking the x-ray. The dentist came in, did not introduce himself, had his back to me most of the time and finally said, "you need a root canal", all of this before he even verbally acknowledged my presence. I was a bit nervous, well a lot nervous and my legs were shaking, his next response was telling me to stop moving, "because you can't hit a moving target", of course this left me perplexed because, I was curious as to what was he trying to hit, seeing that he had diagnosed me with the need for a root canal and said he'd give me a referral. The dental insurance is commonwealth HMO, my first time using the HMO because of a job change. Here's where things went from bad to worse, he started cleaning my teeth without asking me (this is where the abuse comes in), I've worked in health care operations for many, many years and I've managed multiple dental practices. Everyone in healthcare knows, that if you do not ask the patient for permission, when you decide to go off course of the originally c/o, it is assault, extreme but true. I came in for an acute issue and I was hustled. Very typical scam for Health care clinicians who pray on unsuspecting patients. It all happened so fast. Once I was able to say something, I then said, you are wasting my time, I did not stop him from doing the cleaning, I was so alarmed that he would take it upon himself to just start the cleaning when I came to the office for tooth pain and a cracked tooth. His response to me was " when was the last time you've been to the dentist... didn't they tell you that you had a hole in your tooth, I responded something like, "I'm not neglecting my teeth, had I know, I would have taken care of it". Another one of his responses was, "You have a lot of crap on your teeth and I'm trying to get it off", Really.... The only reason I was there was for treatment of my cracked tooth. He finally finished with the 15 minute cleaning job and walked away saying "I'm not trying to hurt your feelings" in which I had responded, "too late". On a positive note, I did hear him speaking nicely to another patient in the office, who had actually seen him at another location. One can only speculate why he had such horrible bed side manners with me. He was horrible before I had even opened my mouth. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS PLACE, and I made this perfectly clear upon leaving the office.

I was not expecting the process of finding a pediatric dentist to be such a chore. To find one near…read moremy home was even more difficult, and then when I was vetting the few that I found that Petite Smiles fit our needs the best. It's in Oak Park about 25 or so minutes from my home but I'm so glad I found it. The office is located on the southeast corner of Harlem & North Avenues in Oak Park. It's a small shopping center, and thankfully there are a few parking spots here. The office was quiet when we went, so parking wasn't at a premium. When we arrived, I was first struck by how clean and polished the place was. It didn't scream children's dentist to me; the lobby is a modern, sophisticated space. The receptionist was professional and after just a few minutes, the hygienist came out to bring us back. I was surprised to learn that she and I have the same name! Anyway, she was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and gave us a tour of the place as she brought us back to the toddler room, where my kiddo received her treatment. It was a super sweet and nice touch that the screens welcomed us with my baby's name, and also a message was written for her on the chalkboard in the toddler room. That room has lots of toys on the walls and a play kitchen as well as some books and stuffed animals, and chairs for the dentist, parent, and child. This visit was mostly about asking questions, getting the child familiar with the place, learn about oral hygiene for littles, and asking questions. They said I could do a cleaning if I wanted, though they usually don't at this initial visit, but I said we could give it a shot and see how she responded to it. At this age the children don't sit in the dentist chair that we're used to; instead, they lay on a platform that sits on your and the doctors knees. The cleaning took at most five minutes. She did fantastic, which I think is not solely due to her good temperament but the dentist's skill in working with children. After the cleaning, the dentist asked if I had any further questions and then left us with the hygienist to finish up. She set up our next appointment for us and took a polaroid of my girl for her first visit. Then as we left she got a sticker and a toothbrush. I couldn't have asked for a better experience to introduce my kiddo to the dentist. I know many people have a bit of anxiety about going to the dentist and my hope in choosing a pediatric dentist is that her experience will be a semi-fun one and certainly not scary. I know I made the right choice in choosing Petite Smiles for my daughter.

I have a 3 years old son that can be a somewhat challenging at times, but they were so nice that my son followed all the instructions he needed to. The dentist assistants treated my son in a very special way, they showed him the tolls and they were gentle and kind with him while taking X-ray pictures. Doc Murthy was also nice, very knowledgeable and gave me all the informations and advice for a better care on my son's teeth. He also showed the tools to him, told him what was going to happen next, asked him what flavor of tooth past he would like to use and I could tell my son was happy and comfortable. Doc Murphy did a really great teeth cleaning job, I saw the difference! At the end of the appt, they gave my son a prize toy and a shirt which was nice touch. I highly recommend them!

The staff is welcoming and patient, the office is clean, and scheduling is easy. The exam room has a TV on the ceiling so kiddos are distracted while dental work is being done. Everything about the office is super exciting and inviting -- especially for a two year old! I don't think he felt an ounce of fear. They have tvs on the screen, which I think makes for the perfect distraction.
