I have visited twice now, and I'm a fan! It's a small, take-to-go kinda shop tucked into a plaza with free parking. In addition to sourdough bread, they have an assortment of baked goods (scones, cookies, etc.) and coffee/tea. Do yourself a favor for the baked goods and warm them up - it makes a WORLD of difference. I didn't think I really liked their chocolate chip cookie until I warmed it up and it changed everything. I've also tried their rosemary focaccia, which was incredible. Their cranberry walnut loaf was good but not my favorite. And the brownie is just heavenly. I love a good bakery, and I'm so glad Metro Detroit (in particularly Troy) has an artisan bread spot like this. I wanted to try it before I left the area, so my high school friend and I checked it out during our lunch break earlier this week. After we got out of the car, parked a few spots away from the bakery, I could smell the freshly baked, yeasty aroma which got me even more excited. The interior is small and simple, but there's a variety of sourdough options (see menu attached), focaccias, and pastries. On the right side, there's also granolas and teas for sale, along with samples of the hibiscus tea which was refreshing. "E. BAGEL" SOURDOUGH - 13 My dad likes bread and eats a couple slices raw for breakfast everyday, so I figured he might like the "everything but the bagel" option. It was nutty, but also fluffy and bouncy. I don't get the appeal of eating bread on its own; if it were up to me, I would enjoy this with some toppings like avocado and tomato. LEMON + BLUEBERRY SCONE - 4.50 I didn't really want to try any of the scones because the amount of glaze drizzled on top made me think it was going to be way too sweet. My high school friend bought me one to try, and it was actually not sweet at all! The scone was nutty, lightly sweetened by the lemon glaze that wasn't even that sweet. I love the combination of lemon and blueberry. This is different than other scones I've had! CHOCOLATE + ORANGE MUFFIN - 5 Good and also not too sweet. This leans more chocolate tasting than orange, which is a bit subtle. It didn't taste overly fatty either, which aren't most muffins! Pretty solid, but I enjoyed the scone more. I really liked the sourdough and pastries from Sourdough Ida. I'm excited to get more of the scones in future visits! read more

Wow best Sourdough bread I have had in Metro Detroit. My go to Sourdough is Zingermans which I have eaten since my college days in Ann Arbor (Go Blue!) where this bread is literally head and shoulders better than that which is saying a lot! Their Classic Sourdough is great and the Everything Bagel Sourdough is absolutely exceptional in my opinion. There are other Sourdough variants sold here that are equally good to include Seeded, Jalapeño & Cheddar and Whole Wheat. Absolutely tasty across the board. Relative to the facility, it has a relatively small footprint where there is an order counter with fresh bread behind it and a sampling station out front in the customer area. The samples are of all the breads and generous in size allowing you the ability to taste what they have to offer before picking your bread. I went in planning on getting only the Classic Sourdough but after sampling the bread I ended up getting the Everything bagel as well which I am guessing is a common occurrence with new customers like myself (: As mentioned in other reviews this bread is a bit on the pricey side where My Classic Sourdough was $10 a loaf and the Everything Bagel is $13 a loaf. Price aside, quality of this nature and the organic Artisan nature of the bread usually comes at a premium which at least in my case is worth it as this bread is just so darn good! The old axiom that you get what you pay for applies here. I will definately be returning in the near future and will be buying this bread as one of the center peaces for family get togethers going forward. read more

Finally was able to try their best. It's truly delicious. They did have some sliced bread for sampling, so we tried the classic and the rosemary olive ones, both were very good. I decided to buy the seeded one, and a couple of cinnamon rolls that they just baked. The seeded bread was fresh and very good, one is the best sourdough I tried so far. The cinnamon rolls were good, although a little dry. Wish they had more filling inside. They do have different pastries, both sweet and savory. The prices are on a high level, but once in a while I'll splurge and get their bread. read more

Don't understand the rave reviews. Sourdough bread is just average and overpriced for a rather common loaf that is small in size. Not a real sourdough flavor in the baked goods. Cinnamon roll was wrapped in plastic and didn't taste freshly baked. Disappointed and won't be returning. read more

Couldn't be more excited to have this new bakery in the neighborhood. Everything is organic and made with a sourdough starter. The business is located in a strip mall on the southeast corner of Crooks and South Boulevard. Plenty of parking and good street signage. They are open daily I believe. Look for the neon sign that will say "open". The husband and wife duo behind this bakery blends both culinary and medical backgrounds to create healthier choices in baked goods without all the extra chemicals and preservatives. From coffee and tea to bread and sweets, you will find something you love. All of their products are vegan except for the sweets which have butter and the breads with cheese. I left with a loaf of the rosemary olive bread today. It is delicious and beautiful! The samples on the entry table are generous (and exquisite). I'd heard about this through next door and saw all the great reviews but thought that a bakery normally has early hours so I'd never be able to get there with my schedule. But doing an errand across the street, I noticed the pink "Open" sign was still on, so I double checked the hours and was happy to find that they close at 6 pm! I went in with my toddler son at around 5:20 pm, before they closed at 6 pm and it was great to see it was still popular in the evening! The owner offered my son a cookie, which was so sweet of him, and it was delicious too! He also noted the bread and tea samples we could try as well - we enjoyed the tea and I bought a loaf of "everything" bread which was complimentary sliced. There is a small fee for using credit cards with signage informing you at the door. It's so great to support a local small business and I look forward to coming back for more sweet treats and breads! read more

PHENOMENAL bread I tried it for the first time today Edmond the owner is extremely knowledgeable about his product and was very helpful. The sourdough with cheddar and jalapeño bread is unbelievably delicious I also enjoyed the chocolate chip cookie. While I was there, a mother came in whose daughter had some issues with what she can and cannot eat. William at the front register was helpful, but Edmond came out and addressed all of her concerns in great detail. The mother was looking for a sandwich bread that her daughter could eat that wouldn't affect her health issues. Edmond was kind and gave the little girl a free chocolate chip cookie. You truly do not get this type of customer service and going the extra mile in most locations. I highly recommend this bakery. read more

Located in an unassuming strip mall, Sourdough Ida is what Troy needs to become a major bakery town. On a Wed at noon, they had a good selection but mentioned they sell out quickly. We tried the plain and seeded loaf -- both were fresh, chewy and sour in the best ways -- and the blueberry and cranberry scones were a perfect blend of sweet and savory. Definitely grab one of those! I appreciated the bread samples and tea, I only wish they had sandwiches / spreads for more of a lunch experience. Currently the space is grab and go, I will definitely be back to try all the other baked goodness. read more
