Found this cozy spot a few blocks off the Stadtpark and figured I'd give it a shot. So glad I did. it was pretty packed when we got ther, we were able to get a high top table after just a few minutes wait. Ordered the beef tartare and schnitzel. Be forewarned, they don't skimp on the portions here. The tartare was delicious and came with a salad and about a half of stick of butter, which was interesting. Schnitzel was big enough to feed at least two people and left me feeling like I had finally experienced a real local meal. Wine was also great and made me wish I could have stayed there drinking it all night. But alas, I had an early flight to catch the next day...

Quite tight seating. Restrooms are not accessible by people with limited mobility. No baby changing stations. The food is okay. The schnitzel was fine and so was lamb. Okay to eat but not memorable. Caprese salad was tasty. In conclusion, if you are passing by and hungry, feel free to stop by. If you are looking for a memorable lunch/dinner experience, plan to visit a different establishment.

Like Demel, Cafe Central is a MUST visit when you go to Vienna, where the coffee houses are a sight to behold on their own. Yes, the wait is quite long. Every time I pass by, there's a line, but it actually goes rather quickly and if you can find something to do to pass the time, it's like nothing at all. First off, the interior is STRIKING, a work of art in its own right with marble columns, stylish looking cafe tables, and paintings every where you go. Apparently Sigmund Freud has been a frequent patron here. Even if you were to get nothing at all, just the experience of sitting here is worth your eyes absorbing. But, oh!--the cakes--and the coffees! I had me an iced coffee that had a great body mixed with a delicate flavor to give me a jolt through the day. The hazelnut cake was airy and fluffy, not at all too sweet like American desserts have a tendency to be! The staff here move efficiently, and I love how there's no pressure to hurry up and pay your bill or make your order. A repeat place to be sure if I were to go back to Vienna. My twin and I went on Sept '25 for our vacation.

The line moved pretty quickly, though, and I waited about 30 minutes. The interior is stunning. I was completely enamored with the architecture and the structure of the building. I was not overly hungry, but I wanted to try the goulash and the apple strudel. Get the strudel with the sauce. 10/10. Amazing. I would absolutely do it again.

We ordered several dishes to share: the steamed dumplings with chicken and shrimp, bok choy with mushrooms, caramel pork, and Bún Riêu. Everything was decent and nicely presented--the dumplings were tasty, the bok choy dish with mushroom was good, the caramel pork was flavorful and the Bún Riêu tasted close to what I am used to. For drinks, we tried their red bean in coconut milk (their signature item) and the lemongrass iced tea. Both were refreshing. The decor is modern, trendy, and inviting, making it a pleasant spot to relax before an evening out. What surprised us, though, was the service. Once our food arrived, no one checked in on us at all--not to ask how things were, not to offer refills, nothing. It stood out because every other restaurant we've visited in Austria has had genuinely warm and attentive service. I suppose there's a first time for everything. Overall, Saigon delivered solid food and a stylish atmosphere, but the lack of follow‑up from the staff left the experience feeling incomplete.

My partner was in the mood for some soup so he ordered from the menu and because we don't speak German we both pointed to the menu number of each item that we wanted. However, when his order arrived it was the same as mine. We tried to explain two different people that he wanted the soup and we pointed it back out to them but the person who took our order insisted that we ordered the same thing. This was not a mistake on our part. We were very clear in what we wanted. I guess in this case the customer is not always right, especially when he points to what he wants. I did enjoy my meal but I'm still dropping a couple of stars because of the insistence of the server who said we ordered the same dish. When we didn't.

Despite the appealing prices, friendly waiters and the nice interior, I did not enjoy the food. Perhaps the main dishes are better, but both times I had a Mittagsmenu and even though all ingredients were fresh, I just couldn't help thinking that - oh well, it is just too boring and tasteless. A nice surprise was the selection of exotic drinks, however, my green beans drink with coconut milk was absolutely not worth the price, it was like a tasteless Mango Lassi. The only thing I actually enjoyed was the tinly bowl of soup which came with the Mittagsmenu, it had a funny sweet-sour taste, I would have loved to have a huge bowl of that soup for lunch and it would have been enough :) All in all, I would really love to give this place three stars (for their cheap prices, very welcoming staff members and the huge variety of lunch possibilities), but I really expected more delicious food, so it's just 2 stars.
