You can really only hear well if you're in this area.

I came tonight for a free wallcast concert. How awesome it is that this event is put on for free. It clearly brings the community together. People brought chairs, blankets, and towels with bottles of wine and picnic baskets. The symphony began at 7:30, but when we got there at 7:00 the park was nearly filled. Finding a spot was hard, but we managed in the back. Trees and pillars blocked us, but we could see about 70% of the screen. The issue is sound, however. The speakers really only gave the people sitting directly in front of the screen, which I really think ought to be adjusted.

After leaving the SOBEWFF and right before the parking garage, I discovered Miami Beach Soundscape. They were beaming ("wallcasting" is the official term) Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone onto the side of the New World Center. The audio quality of the movie was incredible due to the myriad of high def speakers dispersed around the large lawn. This would make for a great family venue outing. The temperature outside in late February was comfortable; I'm not so sure this would be the case in summer. Also, the concrete bench style seating provided could prove uncomfortable after an extended period of time. It's free though, so worth a try if you're in the area.

I went to SoundScape to watch a film during Art Basel. They had comfy bean bags all over the lawn for you to lay out on. Even though the films we watched were super weird, I was impressed by the size of the projection. The park is right by a busy street, but the acoustics are great and you definitely don't have to strain your ears to hear anything. Definitely worth it to visit SoundScape if there are any showings!

This recently completed park is an important "addition" to the Frank Gehry designed New World Symphony (New World Center) to the West... The park was originally planned to be also designed by Gehry, but after an alleged $2 million design consultant fee, the City decided to go with Dutch Landscape Architecture firm West 8 (thank you commission). I haven't been to the new Symphony building, but given the SoundScape park I may not need to. SoundScape itself is a performance heaven. During the opening (while chilling on the grass) we listened to the New World Symphony on a ridiculous exterior sound system & watched a video on the 8,000 sq.ft. east wall of the NWC. I think their plan is to use the projector to showcase design and local art work on days when the symphony is not playing. Strolling the park and it's labyrinth of zig-zag walkways and raised platform edges to sit on, you're bound to hit the curved Sculptural Clouds. To me they look like Golden Chanterelle's, but it might be b/c I grew up in Eastern Europe & our forests were filled with these amazing little Fungi. So next time you're on Lincoln Road or in search of a new spot to visit, make that turn and hit this park. You may just get a free show of New World Symphony broadcasting to SoundScape.

What do you mean I've never reviewed SoundScape Park at the New World Symphony!? You bad Yelper you! Amazing generosity on the part of the City by way of a special agreement with New World means tons of free events at this lovely, modern park. Movies, concerts, performances, oh my! Beautiful architecture and creative design. Floral vines and mind blowing stereo seamlessly infused into the natural surroundings. Bottom Line: must-do in Miami Beach!

I really cannot say all the reasons I've gone. What I can say, though, is that I have enjoyed it EVERY SINGLE TIME. The chic, modern ambiance is to die for. You'll definitely be grooving all night long, whether it's on the floor, at the bar, or even sitting down if you're fortunate enough to be able to grab a table. Seriously speaking, I have only ever seen the tables empty throughout the week. On weekends, this place is hopping! I cannot believe I just used hopping in a sentence; goodness I feel old. Anyway, if you're concerned about parking, the 17th Street Parking Garage is nearby. That or you can Uber. As far as getting to the Regent, be aware it's on a corner and you may miss it if you don't look close enough, but when you find it, YOU WILL BE HAPPY. The drinks here are expensive compared to other areas of Miami, but you're in Miami Beach, so I would say prices are average. $15ish for a drink if memory serves me correctly? Lots of variety, too - gin, vodka, whiskey, etc. Needless to say, I highly recommend the Regent Cocktail Club.
