Enjoyed going to Art Miami and Context shows this year. There were definitely two themes that stood out amongst the artwork this year, the first was the woman's body as art. Repeat this year was the use of butterflies in paintings and sculpture.

Wow! What a fabulous venue to host the art festival. You can find alot of young and up coming artiests who are eager to showcase their pieces. I spent two whole days here last week and I didn't get bored. I loved to see the different mediums these artist use. I learned so much this past week! And the value is much cheaper than the pieces at Art Basel. Great for new collectors :-)

The gallery was incredible. I had a great time. So much art to see and so little time lol. This gallery had a nice entranceway. You did have to get your bag checked before entering and walk through a metal detector. Inside the gallery, I saw bars, a cafe, and a VIP lounge area smack in the middle. I am always grateful for a place to sit. It was crowded I did this gallery. To my surprise was it closed earlier than I anticipated. That was a surprise. I enjoyed the art selection here. I think this was my second gallery. the traffic was rough getting here but it was worth the traffic

For the last 20 years or so, the art world descends into the greater Miami area for the Art Basel week of fairs in the Greater Miami area. In addition to the mega fair itself, there are usually also about 20 other satellite fairs, tons of parties and events all associated with the main event, which takes place in Miami Beach. I've been coming to the Art Basel week of fairs since 2005, and participating in multiple art fairs since then, selling my own artwork. Of the satellite art fairs, in my opinion, the best one is the combination of Art Miami and Context Art Miami, which technically are two separate art fairs, but essentially are one gigantic fair under two connected tents in a perfect location in the Wynwood neighborhood of Miami. When you visit, be prepared for visual overload! Between the two fairs, there are hundreds of art galleries from all over the world, hundreds and hundreds of artists and thousands of artworks of all price ranges. Also be prepared to see many celebrities and people dressed up in artsy clothes! Art Miami is also the oldest, continously running art fair in the United States.

Imagine getting on a plane, like the ones from 80's Saturday morning cartoons that could land and take off anywhere, but set in modern reality. You pass the TSA, I mean private security who check your pass. But once you get on that flight, you can fly all over the world - from New York to Beijing and a stop in Berlin - and check out each city's best art galleries. Your flight is called Art Miami! One of the Wynwood-based Art Basel satellite fairs, Art Miami showed me some of the more edgier art outside of the local "hole in the wall" galleries. Both tasteful and edgy nudes (girls that emerge from a banana), disembodied Cold War-era dictator heads (even my old buddy Fidel), hypnotic digital art I've seen at Art Miami. I've also had the opportunity to talk to some of the artists and attend the lectures that are part of the admission. They also have both general admission and VIP food stands, and staffing is pretty quick in both. The prosecco is great while admiring the art. Art Miami is one flight which should never stop!

I came here as I have heard the hype about it. I was sadly disappointed. The parking situation here is absolutely ridiculous. It was completely unacceptable. It has to be organized better ! Once we reached in it was too busy and caustrophobic. There was no open spaces and the exit was hard to find. Took us forever to find an exit. The art pieces were stunning it's a shame I can't say the same about the venue and overall experience. I would recommend someone to go to another place for art week.

This place was incredible. Has artist from all around the world. I found it very modern and trendy tent. It would been better if they had all the art sorted by type. So much to see and so little time.lol so if they had it sorted the guest can go to the art they most enjoy. So they can easily go in and out.

It's the most wonderful time of the year. Basel, that is. The best collection of artwork is in the Art Miami/Context tents, in my opinion. Located in Midtown, there is ample street parking or convenient garages nearby. Given its size, I will usually frequent this exhibit atleast twice during the week and on VIP preview night, granted the Basel Gods grace me with an invitation. Weekday hours are only till 8 pm so I would recommend going during the weekend daytime. Great stuff so far this year, will be returning. :) Happy Baseling!

During Art Basel and Miami Art Week there are several secondary shows to check out. Art MIAMI and Context are two shows on Biscayne Bay that are worth a look. If you are lucky enough to have Art Basel or Design Miami VIP credentials they will get you in to this cool show of contemporary and modern street art in the heart of Miami's Design District. From artists like Mr. Brainwash, Banksy, Bolero, Damien Fitch to Picasso, Dali, Chuck Close and many more. It's definitely going to send you into Art Overload!

This was such an amazing event! My first time at Art Basel, but I have to say I liked Art Miami better. The art here was more my style and stuff I'd actually want in my house. So many beautiful pieces, I don't know how I could ever choose!! Will be back next year :)

Miami Art was a great event to kick off Art Basel with! Although not located in Wynwood, Midtown area is perfect for this venue. The venue itself was spacious enough to provide room for art lovers to walk around, take pictures, and gather amongst each other in conversation. Each artist displayed pieces of art in provided sections. There was a cafe in the middle for VIP, and drink spots purchase alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages.

I tend to enjoy this more than a the cattle call at the convention center. Full disclosure: we got free passes, but I am sharing my honest review. There were some great Hans Hofmanns, but some gallerists decided to take mr. Brainwash seriously for some reason? Joke's on you, I guess. It's a lot less crowded here too and a little cheaper but not by much.

Great Art Basel tents here for the week. One could spend an entire afternoon just walking these tents and looking at the Art -- there's so much I didn't even get to see everything in there. The no photos policy -- widely ignored and unenforceable -- is rigidly arcane but otherwise this is one of my go-to places every year for Basel. Keep this here instead amid a Super Walmart.

Cupcakes! Now, that is my kind of art.

You walk in to see a cute little garden/backyard feel, listening to some awesome music. As we walked in we were greeted with drinks and hors d'oeuvres. What an awesome layout of furnishing art. We were served ceviche, croquettes, tacos and these awesome battered shrimp. This venue would be great for any private event. I hope to come back for another one soon.

From what I understand you can rent this location for events, to sleep in, and it is used as a venue for Art Galleries as well. The layout is spaced out and the decor is refreshing. It is definitely different and a great place to hold events. The outside garden/backyard area is great to have an outside bar and goes well with the inside vibe. I am not sure about the process on how to rent this location, being I was just a guest. However, it looks family oriented and easy to work with. I am excited to visit Wynwood Lab again the next time I am in Wynwood or thinking about having an event.

The setting and location could not be better - totally breathtaking. Views of the causeway and Biscayne Bay / Downtown Miami are amazing. The architectural details with concrete and MCM inspired wooden accents are just perfect. The staff were knowledgeable and helpful, and definitely added to our experience, and the gift shop is great. The restaurant is excellent and has a thoughtful menu, with several items that are inspired by pieces from the permanent collection. The sports art exhibit took much more space than I would have liked. There is a LOT of money in Miami, and I would have expected a permanent collection or even visiting exposition that would rival museums in New York, Philadelphia, or Washington, DC. - modern art, Impressionism, renaissance, or other fine art would be incredible. That being said, I will definitely return to enjoy the museum, and look forward to seeing where their artistic directors take things in years to come!
