Bottom line - They seem to be the only honest car stereo shop left in town with out a bunch of ninnies working there. They provided a quote really quick, it was spot on and they honored that price. They did a great job installing my remote start and showed me how to operate it. Other reviews I read on here do not understand the mechanics of car stereos, they complain it took all day - the shop requested the car for they whole day. It's because you never know what you are getting into and what is needed. Sometimes people have webs of old install cables that need to be removed or checked to see what they do, that takes time. I have a 2007 Dodge Durango I use as a second car and I was really missing not having a back up camera and apple car play with a car this old. They were able to install the camera and stereo unit and they made it look like it has always been there. Very honest and competent staff. read more

Derek Peterson, Manager, was most helpful and insured the details were confirmed, bill of materials on hand and well managed the technical staff. We were on point when it came time to pay the bill and within the cost estimate. Jacob Nill who significantly contributed to the 3+ day installation is highly skilled, detailed and extraordinarily committed to putting in the time & effort to insure a well engineered and tuned solution. It's done by scope not by ear which is how engineers do it properly so your amps well perform and are reliable. His other techs did an excellent job and cleaned up after it was all done. A lot of discipline in this crew that I respect. Bob Heale, the original owner, was gracious and enjoyable to talk too and was glad he took an interest in my project. I do not listen to loud hip-hop. I like crisp, high quality, serious music and this well delivered. Sure I can crank it up but why when 16-20 is plenty to appreciate most artists. Besides, why burn excess power and risk damaging your ears when there is no need if system is well designed, tuned and installed properly? These guys gave me my money's worth and having a navigation, security, camera is all a bonus. The car is much quieter w/sound installation. Sometimes it's nice just to drive with no sound and hear how much street noise I do not have to tolerate anymore. Bad advice 1. Brian impressed me by manoeuvring all about the interior to study the set-up, and said amp would not fit beneath the passenger seat--where all amps are most naturally at home. He said it constituted some safety violation that they would not accept liability for. Brian suggested underneath the cargo bed, which confines it to an airless spot not much larger than the amp itself. The amp manual says it needs to be installed in a well ventilated spot. I tested the fit myself, and found it fits without any problem under the passenger seat. Bad advice 2. Non-Brian guy said my cable was inferior CCA and not true gauge. The product description made all the right claims about CCA and true gauge (so I doubt his insults and think this was only an attempt to sell in-house stuff). Bad advice 3. Said my 0 gauge cable was too big, my amp would only take a maximum of 8 gauge wire. Granted, 0 gauge is too big, but Crutchfield and the amp manual both said 4 gauge was maximum. Bad advice 4. Said I needed 35 ft of 9 wire. A Crutchfield advisor said this seemed way too much, recommended 20 ft. Another attempt to sell in-house stuff. Bad advice 5. Said the 12 ft of RCA I brought was too long, that I needed 3 ft of RCA wire to connect the LC7i to the radio/head unit. (Clear case of trying to sell their in-house stuff.) Another installer I ended up at said this was wrong, that RCA wire connects the LC7i to the amp, consequently, needed to be 6 ft. Had to return the 3 ft wire. 5 bad advices = no way I let this shop install. They said they would refuse to install the amp beneath the passenger seat anyway. read more

I set an appointment two weeks prior. I showed up when they opened. I gave a deposit over the phone when I first scheduled. I left my vehicle all day to get the work done. I showed up just prior to them closing and they had just pulled my vehicle in not even starting on it yet. I was told I could either leave the vehicle over the long holiday weekend or reschedule. I requested my deposit back and told them I would never do business with them again. Despite what they advertise and no matter their excuses - the last thing this business understands is customer service. I thought I'd give them a try after spending thousands of dollars with their competition. That was my first mistake. Their competition excels at customer service and has made a lifelong customer out of me now. May they forgive my brief betrayal. There is a reason some businesses stay small even after 40 years in business - one of them is they don't understand what makes a business grow. Customer Service is key. Look elsewhere for your car stereo needs - you'll be happy you did. read more

I hope everyone does their research before you have a deck installed with these guys. I wanted to make sure I had Bluetooth and Sirius XM on my new deck. The tech told me it doesn't have Bluetooth so I told him as long as it has SiriusXM I'm good to go. So after installing and charging me about $200, I hop in my truck to find out that my new deck is not Sirius XM compatible. So I called them and tried reasoning with them saying I will buy a deck from you guys and if you could cover half the labor cost to install a new deck again I would be good to go, despite installing a deck that is completely useless and knowing it. The guy asked his manager and he says there's nothing they can do about it. Your techs are a joke and so is your customer care. Lying to your customers just to get work. Get real. read more

These guys have installed 3 sound systems for my husband and me. They've been really great to work with - good suggestions, always finish the job on time and for the amount. And they do really great work! I recently got a new stereo for my car, and wanted it iPod compatible. I was out of town, so my husband worked with them - and when I got back, while the stereo sounded great, it didn't have the full iPod compatibility I wanted. I mentioned what I wanted (Alipine x001) and they special-ordered it in, and swapped it in place of the original. No "restocking fees" or hidden charges. They really ROCK! Clipped my ABS cord during an install and took no responsibility. Told me my clutch went out which is in perfect condition. Wouldn't even help to tow the car, just said it was my problem now. I brought my 1984 BMW 325E in for a stereo upgrade. My former daily driver has been in the midst of some upgrades and the audio system was in need. I met with Bob the owner and we spent plenty of time discussing my needs on what I wanted out of the system. I went with his recommendations on a system that was affordable yet would deliver the kind of sound quality I'd like. I was scheduled for the next day. The audio technician spent the entire next day installing the system, staying late to battle a wiring gremlin from a old previously installed alarm system. In the end I had a flawless installation. The sound quality is fantastic and the service was second to none. Everyone was apologetic for the delay but wasn't on there end. My car had just been detailed and there were no fingerprints or other issues. I had a follow up phone call the next day asking how I enjoyed the system. Overall I feel that I received a professional installation that will be trouble free. Highly recommend! read more

Not a good company in the year 2015! I bought a Kenwood DDX492/ serial number 090X0131 and had them install it because they said the frequency response was 20-20,000khz and this unit does not have that frequency response even on the CD side. I have brand new speakers + a subwoofer. My old Pioneer stereo sounded better. I had to go back to Sound On Wheels 2 times after I bought the Kenwood because the installers couldn't get it done right and even after that it still didn't sound right. Avoid this company. Even the reviews for this unit on the internet are BOGUS. This is not a"5 star" stereo and Sounds on Wheels is absolutely not even a "1 star" company! Better off going to Car Toys, Snows Auto, etc. Save some money and be satisfied! read more

Before I describe the entire scenario, I would like to say that these guys treated me very well. I had an alarm/auto start installed on my 2005 Toyota Camry. There were some things that I was not so happy about so I figured I just let everyone know. I dropped my car off at 10am for a pre-scheduled appointment and they gave me a ride back to work, sweet! When I showed up, they said that it was going to cost me an extra $70 from the price I was quoted due to my car type for a 2way Excaliber 1860 system. https://www.amazon.com/Excalibur-AL1860EDPB-Deluxe-Vehicle-Security/dp/B00PJTCBCC . That was pretty lame but I said ok because I didn't want to re-schedule. I called at 4:30pm to see if I could pick it up since I was off work at 5pm. They told me that it was not done yet and that I could catch a ride down and wait if I wanted to as they would not be done until closing time at 6pm since they were working out a few bugs with the auto headlights. I showed up at 5:45pm. Talked to the owner for awhile, he is a great guy and has a long history in the business. After they finally worked out the auto light bug. They brought the box up and which is when we realized they installed the wrong alarm. It was the 1660 which is a 1way not a 2way system. Luckily most of the wiring harness matched up and the could just swap the brains out. The owner walked me through each manual to verify the wiring harnesses were the same. I did not leave their shop until almost 7:20pm. The alarm/auto start works great today and I am sure they will stand by their product and install but it did not leave with the best first impression. $510 later they did not offer a discount or anything for having me wait, even after I talked about bring a future project in. I will update if something changes. read more

These guys are by far the worst; I do not even know how they are still in business. I had really terrible experience with them. I had them install Alpine Stereo system in my truck. They did install and it was mediocre; it worked just fine. After several days I found that the stereo stays running even after the car engine is shut off and all the doors closed. I started turning it off manually but it did not shut the entire system off; the indicator lights of the stereo remained on. One morning I found out that the indicator lights drained the charge of my truck and I was unable to start it. I had to buy and a portable jump starter to start the ignition. I found it very annoying. I went back to the shop and told them about the issue I am facing and set up appointment to diagnose the problem. A week later I went back. They said that the issue may be the existing wiring harness and it costs additional fees. I told them that I already spent so much and i am not gonna invest more. They said they would diagnose and discuss with me how to correct the issue. After a couple of hours I went back to the shop and told me that they corrected the problem; I did not receive a phone call. They told me that the problem was the wiring harness and rewired it somehow without my consent. They charged me fee which I was not aware when I left the truck. I am extremely upset. I felt like I was poorly treated and it was the worst experience I had to endure. I do not recommend anyone to go to this shop. read more

Sorry fellas but I am NOT happy. George the shop manager was more than not willing to make things right. When I brought in my car for a alarm install I was charged an extra $50 for the remote entry. Even tho I already had power locks and the alarm I bought had the feature of keyless entry, and all they had to do was hook up two wires to make it work I was still going to pay it. I told them before they even got started that I had one door lock that would lock but not unlock but all of the other doors worked fine. They said "no problem well see if we can fix that for ya" When they were done NONE of my door locks worked and he still charged me the $50 for remote entry when I clearly did not get it. He said it was my cars fault cause it was 20 years old..... I expressed I was not happy as a costomer and I was told " Its not my fault your car is broke".... So not happy. read more

I work out of town so I initially called to find out some information about having iPod integration added to my mom's car as a Christmas gift. When I called I could tell the guy that answered was swamped because the phone ringing and there was lots of noise in the background so he took my number and said he would call back. Problem #1-no call back. So my dad had gone in and talked to them and decided to go with what they had, paid for everything and made an appointment to have the system installed the next week for specific time (10:00 am.) When I took the car in for the install (after making up a story to my mom on why I would need to borrow her car...) I gave them MY number to call when the car was done and asked when it would be ready, I was told not until 2:30 or 3:00. Problem #2 -4 1/2 hours to install? I had a friend pick me up so I wouldn't have to sit around for that long. At 2:30 I got a call from my dad saying Sounds on Wheels had just called their house to say the car was done...and guess what...yup my mom ANSWERED!! Problem #3-So much for the Christmas surprise. As you can imagine I was pretty disappointed and upset. I understand things happen but when I got back to Sounds on Wheels, I asked to speak to a manager and the guy I was talking to was in charge of the shop so I explained to him all that had happened from the very beginning; starting with not getting a return call, to getting there that morning and being told it would take 4 1/2 hours to install, which was explained as they were doing installs on cars for things that people had purchased that day that went longer than they had anticipated, which then pushed my appointment time back, all the way to the phone call to a number I had told them not to use. The only response I got from him was "sorry things didn't go well." To me that would be problem #4. I wanted to have iPod integration added to my dad's truck as well and planned on having Sounds on Wheels do that but not after this experience. 2 stars because the system has worked fine since Christmas but will edit if there are problems in the future. read more
