I had the expel window tinting done. When I got home, I realized there was a substance all over the doors of my car that took a half hour to get off. They never cleaned the car after applying this substance and on the inside of the car, they put tape by the window controls, which is fine except that I'm still trying to get the glue off my door handles. Sloppy job. They need to stick to their circle of competence, which apparently is not window tinting. read more

Joe replaced an A/V receiver that failed from (I suspect) getting over-heated. He installed it, having to thread cables through the back of our floor-to-ceiling cabinet, and made sure there was adequate ventilation space around it, and room to install a cooling fan. Surprised this place doesn't have a higher rating. I purchased an after market MMI CarPlay retrofit display and front camera for my BMW X1 from Bimmertech and needed it installed. I called around 3 auto shops in the area and was told by all 3 that they don't do this kind of work and 2 of them referred me to Sound Waves directly. Getting in touch with them and on the schedule was super easy and they were extremely accommodating with moving me around after I blew out my tire two days prior to the appointment so I could get it fixed first. Happy with the install, everything looks clean and like nothing was every done. Everything functions as it should and the guy even took the time to go through the new system functionality with me without me having to ask. They even cleaned the goop from an old car mount I had glued to my dash that came off. Now that is what I call 5 star service!! Considering getting a remote start and would coming back here in a heartbeat if I decide to pull the trigger on that in the future. read more

2019 F-150 Lariat - Upgraded stereo with high end amplifier & speakers & sub-woofer. Installation was as if it was stock from the factory. Work was performed in the Spring of 2021 but still just as happy with the sound quality and installation. Couple weeks later I had cab lights installed - that too came out perfect. Looking like installed from the factory/dealership. They do great work. During this COVID-19 time, there are chip shortages that I could see was challenging their inventory. But, the recommended hardware for the stereo was able to finagled. Five star service! read more

I thought the prices were fair for the remote starter install and the HID kit install. They even installed the HID kit which was not bought from them. I'm writing an updated review of the tint I had done here. I will start off by saying that the manager at Sound Waves was really awesome. Vinny was beyond helpful with all of the issues I had regarding my tint. So as for their customer service, I have to say that they are patient and try to fix any problems (at least Vinny was) Unfortunately, good management doesn't do anything to help poor product installation. First attempt: the tint looked OK but a few days later I began to notice a lot of bubbles in the window. ( I have had tint done numerous times, so I am aware of the aftercare etc ) So I contacted the shop and vinny set up another day for them to redo my tint. Second attempt: I went to pick up my car after it had been redone. Once I got home, I looked at the windows. I found even more bubbles and creases than I had originally on the first try. The window tint edges were also uneven on both driver and passenger front windows. Once again, I called vinny and brought it back again. Vinny noticed the imperfections and said they would redo it again. Third attempt: I went to pick the car up again and noticed that only the drivers side window tint was replaced. The passenger side was the same. The tint guy came up and said that the owner said it looked fine and to leave it. (Based on the pictures I've attached - most people would definitely say it wasn't "fine") I decided to leave the car there overnight so it could be done in the morning. Fourth attempt: I went to pick my car up again. I didn't even say anything about how the passenger side still looked bad because I was already frustrated with how many times they redid the tint. It seems like even after 100 redos, it still would have been an issue. This tint guy obviously takes no pride in his work. All I can say is - If you don't want to redo something just do it right the first time. I have spent $200 on tint in the past and 5 years later there is still not a single bubble, crease or any imperfection due to install. Not to mention, the tinting at sound waves is not cheap for how poor of a job he did. * I will also add that I live about 45 minutes away from here and it was extremely inconvenient to keep coming back and forth just to be disappointed every time * read more

I had few things done with them in the past and had never had an issue, but a few months ago I decided to install a birds eye view on my car, the image quality was terrible so i called them and told them it was best for this to be uninstalled. They asked me to bring my car in and after it was removed i was informed that there would be a charge for removing it!! I've brought 4 SUV's to sound waves to get the front 2 windows tinted. My most recent was a brand new Tesla (2 days old) They did a nice job and had car back when promised but they damaged/chipped my window trim on both sides!! I noticed when I got home and didn't complain but I'm heart broken. Tesla windows come down an inch upon opening because they are frameless but if not done correctly it'll damage trim like seen here. Brought my 99 CRV in today because my drivers' door speaker wasn't working. Mutually agreed with Rory at the front desk that I would be charged the hourly labor rate because I wasn't getting any new modifications. I left then after an hour I came back because I grew bored of sitting in the McDonalds next door. After a few minutes of arriving back I was informed by Rory that multiple wires on the harness were pulled out from wear and tear (I knew this was the issue), Rory then brought me inside the shop to confirm my suspicion. The receipt states, "check front driver speaker, customer believes wire from door boot is loose... front door was taken off, plug at door is broken with multiple wires disconnected. Suggested to customer to purchase whole new harness". When I saw my car in the shop, the door was not removed, it was merely opened and had a flashlight pointing at the jam nearest the hinges at the boot. I regret not taking a picture at the time because there was quite literally noting done to my car more than opening the door, and sliding the boot back to view the harness. No door panels were taken off, not even a single clip or screw was touched. I was told by one of the staff in the shop that I myself need to go to a junk yard to then find and pluck an old wiring harness from a vehicle that I could then bring back to Sound Waves for an install. When it was all said and done I left Sound Waves with no actual work done to my car, my drivers' door speaker still didn't work, and I was out $53.31. I understand that you guys are running a business but this is not in any way to build a repour with new clients. I would have happily tipped the staff involved for taking a look but this is just ridiculous. I will not be coming back, nor will I ever be recommending Sound Waves to friends, family, or peers. read more

I stopped in here looking to replace a blown speaker in my car...I was interested in upgrading them to something better...I drive a 10-year old Nissan and didn't need top of the line, but wanted a decent replacement... The young salesman was quite rude and tried to up-sell me to a 'high end' speaker brand...I've never heard of the brand he was speaking of and was weary of its quality...I asked to listen to them - he refused...He was, however patient with me about listening to my own CD and to other speakers he had, but tried to arrogantly sway my opinion... I am a professional audio engineer by trade and was critical of each speaker's sound...I understand the limitations of car speakers, as they're not studio monitors, but I still want to enjoy my experience...I choose some moderately priced Kenwood speakers as the ones I liked best - and he scoffed at my choice...Also, upon getting me a price quote, his colleague also had the same condescending attitude...As if I didn't like this expensive no name brand, I wasn't 'cool'... I had a great experience with Sound Waves of Parsippany NJ. My friend and I needed to get our new cars tinted. He had a BMW 335i and I have a Honda Civic sedan. My friend found this location as word of mouth from someone at work. I was really concerned about having Color Stable film as prior to this, my bmw 335i coupe had 3M color stable film. It was expensive (over $390) and after 7 years, the tint never bubbled or purpled out. I didn't mind paying for more if I was getting a great quality product. I was happy they offered Johnson film and had a CS (color stable) film. We decided to get it done there. We made an appointment as dropped off our cars on saturday morning. By the end of the day we get a call that the car was ready for pickup. I went to pick up at closing time and thanked them. I went with 35% Johnson Renegade film. That next day was really sunny (80 degrees) and I was REALLY happy how much heat was rejected from the tint. My AC did not need to push as much to keep my car at a good temperature. After further reviewing the film I noticed the driver side window had a little tiny bubble. You can only see if if you look for it and the rear window had a brake light cut out that i was not too happy about. I kept looking at it and it was slightly crooked (the brake light cut out. I felt bad going back to them about these issues but I wasn't 100% happy with the result. Other then those two issues, all the windows has perfect cut. I went to them on Monday and spoke to Sermit and he checked it out. He told me that the tint guy can resolve those issues. Come back on Tuesday between 10:30 and 11am. I was fine with the short notice request. On Tuesday I went in and spoke to their tint person. He said "that little bubble on the driver side will get retinted with no questions asked." I felt so happy that he didn't hassle me. As for the rear he explained that my model car required a removal of back housing. That is why they did a cut out on those cars. He did not want to brake anything while trying to remove it and the people who do that is their installers which would cost labor to get this done. I was fine, and he said he will re-tint the rear and try to make it straighter although it was off by such a small amount. I thanked him and he told me it would take by the end of the day. I left. Getting to my babies doctor appointment i saw a honda civic with a brake light cut out and took pictures of it and emailed to Sermit asking if they can do the cut out following the defroster lines. He quickly emailed be back letting me know they will. I got a call 30 minutes prior to closing letting me know the car was ready for pickup. I went there hoping the cut out looked good. When I got there I was amazed. They went ahead and tinted the back and the brake light. I was SO HAPPY they did that. They did not have to do this in fact I would of been happy with a straighter cut out. The fact that they surprised my expectation was amazing. I can't tell you how happy I was ones I saw this. I walked inside and Sermit handed my key and asked if I saw the car. i said yes, and I shook his hand and hugged him. He smiled and said "we just wanted to make sure you were happy" This is a great customer service experience I received. There is no doubt, ones I am ready to get a sound upgrade on my car there is no other place I will visit. They made my stay there very comfortable. As my first visit I stayed from about 1.5 hours waiting for my wife to pick my friend and I up. Sermit explained the projector they had and speakers. Powered on Sony projector in their demo room and powered up their speakers. Explained and answered EVERYTHING my friend and I asked. We NEVER felt rushed, or he never spoke down to us like idiots. I really felt like he was a friend telling us info about the product and demo'd it all. He was really knowledgable and a chill person. Great experience, great service, great care. Never felt like I was pushed to buy something. ANYONE of my friends who want to upgrade their sound in their car, or tint their cars, this is the place I will send them to. Aside from knowledge, and service, their price was the BEST we could find for a reputable tint place with quality product. We called other places and we usually got "it's a tinted film company"? Most know about other quality installers like TOTL in lodi, Tropic Tint, etc.... And don't get me wrong they do a great job too, but times are tough and I got the same service and same quality product for 50% of the price other places charge. I am not happy with the work they have done to my car. I paid 1200 cash for ceramic tints xpel xr. I took delivery on my Model Y tesla 2021 on May 7th 2021 and they received the car that day which was a Friday, and I didn't get the car back until following Tuesday. I was told I would have it back on Saturday that was a lie. When I finally did receive my car the tints was bubbling already on the roof of the car which is all glass, on top of that it was done in 2 section when the normal install is 1 entire piece for the glass ceiling. I was told the reason they did it in two pieces it was for their convince if one of the 2 section would go bad they wouldn't have to change the whole ceiling. LMAO! I couldn't believe such response, so I told them I wanted in one piece which they agreed since the roof was already bubbling. I had to wait for them to order the film which I was told it will take a couple of days and that ended up taking over a week and half. When they finally got the long film for the ceiling they ask me to bring the car in for the full day just to do the ceiling. Boom I received the car back with scratches on the tint on the ceiling and this large burn mark on the side where they must've took a heat gun to melt the plastic. My level of frustration is beyond me I paid top dollar for the tint and work and it was shotty work and I'm pissed. I want a refund take all the tint off my car and be done with this cancer experience. read more

Having worked in customer/client services for 8+ years, I can confidently tell you the front desk attendant here at sound-waves, Rory, has less than satisfactory communication skills. I went to Soundwaves to have a remote starter installed. Knowing that there was snow in the forecast, I dropped my car off at 9 and Rory told me the guys in the garage wanted to get a jump on the install so they could get out of there before the snow. He said the car would be done around 11. This was great until I drove by an hour later and saw my car sitting in the same exact place I had parked it earlier. Rory called around 12 and said the car was almost done if I wanted to come pay. I ended up having to wait another 30-45 min because my car wasn't finished. Come to find out one of the features of the system was disabled because a part was damaged. Had someone called from the beginning and told me that I wouldn't have even had it installed. By this point, it had started snowing and it was clear they were rushing to get out of there. I got a half-assed walk through of how the key works and then sent on my way. I get in my car and immediately was having issues with the key and also noticed some of the interior panels were not properly put back in place. Mind you it's barely been 5 minutes, I try to go back inside to find the doors are locked and everyone has left. After figuring out I didn't like the starter and the fact that one feature was broken, I called back on Monday and told them I wanted it taken out. I show up to find out from Rory that they will have to charge an extra $150 to take the starter out. He was giving a lot of attitude and was very rude. I questioned why I was getting charged (and not refunded) when no one informed me that a feature was broken prior to picking my car up and he pulled some answer out of his ass and tells us he actually got in trouble for giving us a discount, a discount that we didn't ask for. Still being very rude, he says "if you don't want to pay the $150, we can simply unplug the starter and you can throw the guys like $30". Needless to say I got the remote starter taken out, lost a lot of money, and won't ever be going back here again or referring anyone to go here. read more

I wish I could give this company a zero and put them out of business. I had a reverse camera installed in the car. I purchased the camera and took it there so they can install it for me. I was recommended to go here by another company that they did an amazing job and It was about to be my worst nightmare. I drop off my car at 12 on the dot and they told me it wasn't going to take more then 3 hours to do the job. I was like ok sounds good. Everyone was friendly at first and then the Installer came and was explaining a story to the owner and me of something that had happen with a customer a few days ago. He had my keys in his hand and just threw it on the counter while he was explaining and I'm like did this peace of shit just did that in front of me? I didn't say anything because I didn't want to get on his bad side and have him do a bad job in my car so I stayed quiet even though it was killing me inside and then the nightmare began. After 4 hours I asked him is it almost ready a he said oh yeah they just finishing up. Also there was someone there that had drop off his car at 9 to get a remote started installed in his car and it wasn't even ready until 5ish. Then I asked him at 5 again and he said let me look at it and went to the garage and came back and didn't tell me anything. Then they were closing at 6 and that's when I got it back. The price he had agreed on was 260 to install it and when it was time to pay it was 319! I guess when you have idiots working on your car you have to pay more since they don't know what they are doing and they take 6 hours to do the job. Once I put it in reverse the camera wasn't clear at all and I had a lot of rattling noise inside the car and now I'm getting pissed off so I called the shop right away but they were already closed. I called them the next day and the idiot in the front desk said come down and we will fix it! Why do i have to take my fuc*ing car there again when you guys had it for 6 fuc*ing hours and didn't put in the part in correctly! So I was like fine! I'll take off work and go there Thursday. He said that's fine come Thursday at 9 so I said ok. Then Thursday comes around and since we have an appointment already I didn't go to work to get this Rattling problem resolved. On my way there I called the shop just to let them know i was in my way there and the moron from the front desk said no don't come we have 7 installs to do today. I'm like WTF? You told me to go there on Thursday at 9 am! He said you need to make an appointment WTF? We had an appointment you told me to go there and he said I know I did, but you didn't make an appointment to come here. I was so fuc*ing- mad. I took off work to get this fixed and they won't even look at it. I'm sure it's stuff loose. So I asked him to speak with the owner and he tells me he's not there of course. I ask him to have him call me back and it been 1 month and no call back. The guy that works in the front desk and the owner or a bunch of morons they don't deserve anyone business for lying to people. The funny part was I did not need an appointment to go there to get it install, but of course once you have a problem they don't want to work on it because they not going to make any money on it. I ended up fixing some of the rattling. Loose panel underneath the steering wheel near the petals was not put in correctly and screws were missing. I had to go to VW to buy the screws. Second problem they remove my radio to install the reverse camera wires and they broke six of the clips that were there so it was making it rattle a lot. I had to use glue to glue them back in place. Now i have to remove the trunk part to see what's loose there since I had clips inside the trunk and the noise is coming from there. I didn't think this company wasn't that bad but I was wrong. Pay attention to the bad reviews people so this doesn't happen to you. read more

The work was ok (got speakers/system installed), but I would never recommend anyone coming here, especially a woman. Tried to talk to the manager, just as delusional about his own behavior and his employees. They also mis quoted me on when my car would be ready and made no efforts to contact me. I had to call them for updates. I went after reading their good reviews - which I found out later were falsified by their employees (big shock that every review has the same name as an employee there). I got duped by these false reviews and it cost me. These guys are incredibly rude, cocky and lacking professional skills. They tinted our car but caused $1,000+ worth of damage. Couldn't get ahold of a manager and when he finally called me back- the manager, Sam, SCREAMED at me. Screamed and berated me, refused a meeting or responsibility for breaking our amp. I would have sued them but I know posting this review will deter others from going and let me move forward from all the anger and hurt from this experience. Please don't go here, this was probably my worst consumer experience. Well am taking the time to complete this review based on my own experience with the shop. This review is only based on an estimate given to me by one of the employees at sound waves. I had a problem on my audio system which includes 2 hifonicz amps, all alpines speakers and an RE 12 inch sub. I was getting constant noise on my system so guy looked at it and immediately said I can't touch your system unless I do all brand new wiring. That's fine by me except for the fact that it would cost me 650 plus tax. I just had another place do all new wiring but they are in union city which is hard for me to drop off the car and get a ride back home. I ended up taking the car to a shop in Paterson which charged me 120 and all they did was check wires and installed a new ground for one of my amps. The job was well done fast and at a reasonable price. Hope this review helps someone, so unless you got the money don't go here. Once again I do not know their quality of work but their prices and approach to problems are insane. read more
