Where to start? .... I been working with contractors for the…read morebetter part of 20 years with two properties and multiple projects and while I have had success with a handful, for the most part the contractors I've worked with have pretty much disappointed me in more than one way.... This February (2020) I had an unfortunate incident with a pipe bursting in my finished basement, which I use for a home office as well as a home theater and family hangout, it's probably my favorite part of the covered house as I personally designed every space and had it built to my high demands including sound proofing.  Immediately started looking for the best end-to-end service i could find that could do the job better than original and in an acceptable time-frame. I was fortunate enough to land Glenn Kutoroff and his company Total Home Interior (THI), not only they are 1/2 companies that actually do professional soundproofing in New Jersey but his prices and ability to do it all,  was exactly what I was looking for. Glenn's crew is fantastic, they were able to finish my 1000 Sq/f basement in two weeks but did so with flying colors and incredible attention to detail. I cannot say enough great things about how professional these guys are, but suffice it to say, they showed up every day at 9 am and left at 5-6pm even in the midst of a pandemic, which I'm grateful that they got this done before the shutdown. I had some crazy requirements with my Home Theater where I wanted to re-purpose my under-stairs closet into a media/server room. Matt was simply an artist with the work he did, running all the 7.4.2 speaker cables from my theater room into the closet in addition to setting up all the equipment, testing and calibrating to perfection.... and he even design a custom cooling for the room that's right out of a science competition.. If you want the best soundproofing, interior finishing, flooring (we did vinyl and carpet), painting, odd projects and professional level AV installation, these guys are just #1.

TLDR: They provided a poor solution that made our noise issue worse and resulted in a dimunition of…read morevalue in our home. The owner, Glenn, made baseless excuses of supposed "structural issues" in my home. He then threatened us with a lawsuit and requested to settle with a non disparaging agreement so we hired a lawyer to settle without a NDA. Think about how many other unhappy clients may have not shared their story here because they have settled with an NDA. I hired total home interiors to improve the impact noise in my 2 story home. Rich came to measure decibel ratings with his iPhone and claimed they would be able to provide a 70% improvement with their recommendation. Their solution was to screw down my hardwood floors to prevent squeaking, apply acoustical glue, place down acoustical rubber, accoustical caulk along the perimeters, and finally place underlayment and a floating floor on top. Halfway through the project (after placing the acoustical rubber), we went upstairs excited to see if the acoustical work they had done had an impact. To our dismay, there was zero improvement and we noticed increased vibration in the apartment below. We raised a concern to them so the next day, Glenn stopped by for a visit. He went upstairs and claimed he felt swaying from the floors and that our house must have structural issues and tried to have our other contractor corroborate his story. We found out later he was using this time to convince our contractor to work with him so they could "make a lot of money together" rather than taking our matter seriously. We told him we didn't want to move forward with the project if things were getting worse but Glenn assured us that once we put down the floating floors, everything will work. However after completing the work, the house now vibrates, floors still squeak and the impact noise is much more prevalent with the vibrations shaking the floors downstairs everytime someone walks upstairs. To justify his shortcomings, he was fixated on the supposed "structural issues" of our home rather than the substandard work. He requested that we spend an additional 2-3k to hire a structural engineer to cut multiple invasive holes in our new ceiling for an assessment. One of the structural engineers was kind enough to examine pictures of the joists within my home along with measurements and confirmed that the joists are properly sized and there are no structural issues in my home. Based off of that information and also having done a home inspection recently, we were sure the home didn't have structural issues and did not move forward with Glenn's suggestion since was not the one footing the bill and has proven poor judgement. They categorize themselves as acoustical consultants on Google which is very misleading because his team has no acoustical credentials. The workers who came here reeked of marijuana, acted unprofessionally and left acoustical glue all over our newly painted walls. He charged 13.2k for the work including acoustical glue and rubber for a 1,000 sq ft apartment. We had to purchase an additional 6k of laminate flooring and underlayment. We were desperate and was willing to pay a premium thinking they knew what they were doing. Since the work done by this company decreased the soundproofing in our home, we refused to pay the rest of the 50% balance (~6.6k) and asked Glenn to walk away amicably since he obviously had no idea how to fix the issue. He was continuing to try to get us to pay for more services (at a profit) to fix the issue and claimed we were using him as a scapegoat for the structural issues in our home. Glenn wanted $3500 and a NDA so that quote we do not "pollute the internet with a skewed version of what is happening". As you can see, this is probably what he does; overcharge and then offer a reduced rate and NDA after things go awry to silence unhappy clients. After repeated threats of lawsuit, we decided to communicate only through our lawyers. We settled on $4750 with no other stipulations so we can tell our story and save everyone the trouble.

He walked me through the process and basic operations. Quick, friendly service, a fair price. I've used Joe and his team in the past and have always been thrilled with the results. Highly recommended.

They knew ahead of time that I would wait on the premise while the camera was swapped. When the day came, I arrived and was told that it would take 1 to 2 hours to complete. 3 hours and 45 minutes later, my car was done. They charged me $757.89!!! Part of that cost, according to the receipt, was for materials used like wiring, adhesives, etc. I supplied them with my own adhesives. When I came home, I noticed that the camera they swapped out is missing the mounting bracket that it came with. And, when I got my car, they rearranged my side view mirror and rear view mirror without putting it back the way it was. When I complained about the mirror, the kid who installed it blamed it on the necklace I had hanging off of the mirror. No. I removed the necklace and the mirror swivels to the point where it can't stay put. I'm mad at myself for not having asked upfront what the cost would be. But, I've purchased cameras and had installation done elsewhere for far less than what Sound Waves charged for installation and didn't think they would charge an absurd amount. And, the front dash cam was installed 6 inches below the old one. It's not like I paid for top quality. I only went to Sound Waves because it was more local compared to where I used to live. Price-gouging criminals and thieves! You are much, much better off going somewhere else.
