Terrible. They WILL charge you for problems they can't fix and will just throw their hands up/shrug their shoulders and bs you about having to pay their guys and you having to be the one to do it. Luckily I talked them down a good bit on what they were trying to charge me ($150). But it gets worse, the cable management by them is atrocious and they couldn't even secure the radio properly, they had one side screwed in, and the other side without a single screw which made the unit fall into itself; absolute joke. Went to Sound Trax today to get my new back door hinge / supersize spare tire holder / third brake light extension kit installed on my lifted Jeep. Charlie and James and Jack took great care of me. Funny story, When I was a kid I took my first car to Square Deal in Holtsville. As a teenager, I wanted to install a ballin' stereo system! Back then, My salesperson put together a system that was amp'd up with multiple speakers and a cool 8 track player. (Yes, I am old) Years later, I went to Sound Trax in Stony Brook to upgrade my Corvette system. The stock stereo in my Corvette had a cassette player! It's time to upgrade the stereo in my beloved Chevy. I want a system with modern offerings like Bluetooth, IHeart radio and a USB input source. I also want a big amp to drive multiple speakers and a subwoofer all while looking stock. I walk in and who's at the counter? I say hello to Bruce and told him he sold me my first stereo 8 track. We laughed and asked him to set me up with a 21 Century system for my Corvette. I was concerned about cutting up my car. Bruce assured me, not to worry. The car will still look factory but will sound amazing. I spoke with the owner, he too owns a Corvette. He mentioned to me the front speaker grills are faded. I'll take care of them, I'll paint them at no charge. Folks, that is just great customer service. I'm a customer and I'm concerned about my classic car. The end result was Sound Trax went above and beyond to make sure my stereo installation went perfectly. My stereo system now has multiple speakers, I had to stream The Who Eminence Front. It sounds like Pete Townshend is screaming in my face. Sound Trax, my system cranks! I brought my truck here because I needed a low beam headlight. While they were looking at my truck and had the fender and other pieces off, I received a call that my wife got hurt at home and needed medical attention, I let the workers know and told them I need to leave ASAP. They completely understood, put my new bulb in, put the fender back on, all within a few mins. I was able to meet up with my wife in the exam room, so I can't thank the guys here enough! I initially believed that Sound Trax was a top-tier shop. They seemed personable, helpful, and knowledgeable. However, their installation work is a complete disaster, and I strongly advise against ever using their services. About seven years ago, they installed a Pioneer unit in our 2003 Tahoe. These aftermarket units never last and it recently died. I chose a different shop for the replacement. During the process, I was shown the absolute catastrophe they created within my dashboard. The wiring was an utter mess, resembling a rat's nest of tangled wires. I had purchased a unit from Sound Trax that was supposed to seamlessly connect the factory harness to the new head unit. Not only was it absent, but they had the audacity to charge me for it! Instead of proper connections, wires were cut, spliced, and taped together. No formal connections. No professionalism. Just a shoddy, shameful job. I dread to think of what the inside of other people's dashboards look like after these hacks have been at them. Avoid Sound Trax at all costs! We first used Sound Trax in 2011, when my wife brought our 2011 Rav 4 in for them to install grill and rear-bumber guards and to install an alarm system and remote starter. In 2021, she brought in our new 2021 Rav 4 XLE Hybrid for the same work on our new vehicle, except for the rear-bumper guard (because I couldn't find one that didn't include a manufacturer's notice that it might block the rear cross-traffic/pedestrian sensors). More than 2 years later, I finally found a rear-bumper guard that was supposed to be compatible with those sensors, so she brought our car in to have it installed. She also asked Charlie about repositioning the front grill guard so that it provided a little more clearance from the car body. Charlie ordered the rear-bumper guard for me and took direct delivery, saving us the trouble of doing that and taking it over to the shop. They installed it perfectly, but we noticed (after she got home) that the new guard blocked those rear sensors. Charlie contacted the manufacturer and they sent over bracket extenders; but after trying everything to make it work when she brought it back in, he determined that, despite what the manufacturer said, there was just no way to install that product on our car without blocking those rear sensors. Charlie removed the new guard and promptly issued a full refund for the product itself, as well as for the labor involved in the entire project. He also repositioned the front grill guard for us, at no charge, more than 2 years since they first installed it. We consider ourselves tremendously fortunate to have such a reliable, customer-service-oriented service provider, especially in the automotive repair industry, where that is the exception rather than the rule. I could not possibly recommend Sound Trax more highly or with more confidence. read more

I don't even know where to start, I'd give them 0 stars if I could. The fact that they took all day on both attempts to put a stereo in my car even though I had an appointment for 10:30 in the morning. Also the fact that they blew out my speakers and won't do anything for it. They sound like complete static now so I just went to a different stereo place to get new speakers. WebLink, a feature on the pioneer stereo does not work either. Issue with the brake wiring job they did. Overall would NOT recommend whatsoever. (Update: the owner Len called me and asked for my side of the story and when I told him about my speakers he basically called me a liar and said my speakers weren't mentioned. This is my first ever online review and it is much needed after the horrible experience here at soundtrax. Known as a local professional aftermarket car specialists they are exactly the opposite. Dropped off my car at 10:30am as prompted for all of my speakers to be upgraded and didn't receive my car until the end of the day right before they closed. Once I received my vehicle and listened to what they installed I would've rather kept my old blown speakers compared to what they put in my car. The best part was half of the system was not wired correctly since they couldn't figure out the correct wiring. So I could only hear out of the drivers side of the vehicle. What I heard from the drivers side was completely horrible had no base whatsoever and the brand of speakers they used I never even heard of. It took them two whole days to figure out how to wire my speakers correctly and didn't even offer a discount. I was told I was sold the wrong equipment which is why it didn't work to begin with so they replaced it with kicker speakers that fitted my wiring better. I will do my best to make sure the whole town knows not to come here. My speakers now sound worst then before I came here so I spent 700$ for a headache a waste of my days off and to leave with a sound system that was worse then the stock one installed. DO NOT COME HERE!!! Literally just look up a ChrisFixit youtube video and you would probably do a better job then these guys. read more

Honest people. I am technically a moron and brought over my car because of a notice that my antenna needed repair. After they checked it out they told me that it was just that the connection wasnt in tight enough. No charge. They could easily told me I need a new antenna a charged me accordingly. I lost a few butt connectors and needed a few extra feet of wire and I was charger a very fair low amount just to get my project done. It seemed that the young mad who helped me had felt my pain before, and was more than willing to help. Recently I work over 60 hours a week and cannot do my own projects. I made an appointment to drop off my 2009 Toyota Yaris for a new radio, they took the make and model number when I made the appointment and quoted me a price of $300. I dropped off the car at the time of appointment and was told it would be ready in a few hours. I got a call that night stating that they were missing a part but it should be in tomorrow and they would need to keep the car overnight. The next day they called and said they couldn't put a radio in that make and model car. It took allegedly professional installers two days to figure this out? Incompetent and unprofessional, I will never go there again, I rather deal with someone that knows there business and doesn't waste my time. read more

I have this place install a new stereo pioneer and set of speakers. Now I take care my car ! I mean I'm a car fanatic and I'm very careful with my car. If you are the same as me don't go here!!! After install I noticed the sloppy job they did I wish I had taking pictures to show the proof . Carpets ripped !!! And I know that they have to do some carpet work when installing a stereo but I'm talking about sloppy work they ripped the carpet so bad I had to glue it so it won't show. Long story short the wiring they did it was so sloppy I re wired every single speaker myself because they stop working after a couple months. I mean the cable that the used it was cheap it came right off as I was reaching for the speaker ! All the clips from the speakers covers are broken it looks like the person that worked in the car had no passions or care about it,the use glue to put back together. The sound of the products are good , awesome but the installation job was very very sloppy! I spend 1200 bucks to have to redone every single speaker at the end!????? Now I'm not a person were goes back and makes a big scene and gets something redone. I try it and if the job is sloppy and they do damage I won't go back . I just don't want to happen to you if you are Like me . The manager and the owner were nice and professional but the problem of this business is the people working on the cars! I went back again yesterday, as my XM radio, again, showed a "check antennae" message across the face of the radio, for the 4th time. This time, they installed a new XM antennae at no cost to me, handed me my keys, and sent me along my merry way....except the radio still didn't work. It was the damndest thing I ever saw. The radio worked when the drivers side door was open, and cut out when the door was closed. They added insulation to the small section of antennae wire that was exposed in the door frame, and that seemed to do the trick. Hopefully this is a permanent fix for the problem. Terrible experience. Waited 3 hours in waiting room for an installation of nerf bars and 2 front window tints. Had an appointment. After the 3 hour wait went outside and truck was parked in the same spot I parked it with no work done. Took the keys and left. Came to tint world down on 112. Been sitting here for 5 min and truck is already in the back getting hooked up for cheaper. Should have listened to everyone that told me soundtrax wasn't the right spot to go to. I read some of the reviews here (the ones with low ratings) and the majority of them seem unfair to this business. These guys are professional and do great work. If it took an hour to disassemble your car and install a remote start etc, you could probably do it yourself. The truth is, however, these things take TIME. You had to wait 5 hours for your vehicle to be ready? Yeah...these things take time. Blaming the shop for your having to wait is unfair. Let them do what they do and go grab a donut and coffee. There is a sign in the shop that says expect to leave your car for the day. Things happen. Why would you want them to rush your install? I used these guys years ago for my Jeep Wrangler and I was very happy with the remote start/alarm they installed. Yeah it took all day. So what. I just had them do another remote start and alarm install in my newest Jeep. Dropped it off at 10 and picked up at 5. I dealt with Charlie who was great!! He took the time to go over all of my options for choosing a system and never "sold" me on anything. He was attentive and I felt very comfortable giving this shop my business. This was confirmed when I picked up my jeep and Charlie went through all the features of my Viper system and not once rushed me. I am very happy with these guys and would highly recommend them. As a consumer, realize it's a two way street. Don't expect unrealistic things and let the shop do what they do. You'll have a great experience and walk away a happy customer. read more

So i decided to wait and wait I did for over an hour till I got told it takes 20 or so mins once the technician was in. So why they didn't tell me he wasn't in was beyond me. This is the secound vehicle they did a installation, the first was a 2011 Mazda speed3 back when Boston acoustic was still around. They did that car awesome job on that! So I decided to bring my 2015 chevy silverado in, I had them make me a custom dog platform for my 2 large dogs and a full system which includes 3 pairs of Rockford fosgate door speakers and a 10 inch Rockford sub, with 2 amps, a loc and a capacitor. They took there time and made sure everything came out awesome. I live in deer park and I travelled out there because I knew it would come out perfect. I am actually sitting in the waiting room of this business right now and I can not say it is for new work, but in fact, it is for a third returning visit of repair work, resulting from their initial poor job. I have a 2002 jaguar x-type and I had them install HID headlamps, fog lamps, a back up camera and a double din pioneer radio. The first problem was with the pioneer radio. The pioneer radio that they installed originally, lost it's capability of Bluetooth and I had to return the radio to have it swapped out for a newer model (in which they charged me for) also in which, I found out that they no longer had the model they sold me which was only a couple weeks prior. Kind of shady, don't you think? The second visit was for my HID FOG LAMPS... This was because my right fog lamp went dead. They claimed it was a "bad bulb", but after looking into their work, they didn't secure my pebble guard and wheel well correctly and they also had my wires to the fog lamps hanging freely inside the wheel well. Now I am here for the third time and it's because of my tail lights. After taking it to other mechanics and having it diagnosed, it has become clear that while doing a lazy wiring job (similar to the work in my second visit) it has caused my tail light to short out. This work has cause my circuit board and connector to burn out, making my turn signals go on while braking. They have given me a bunch of ridiculous excuses, avoiding any responsibility to the cause, but some how, they are willing to fix it. It's nice that they are fixing the issues, but it's really aggravating to come back and forth for repairs. As I am writing this review, the owner (Bruce) even approached me and asked me to walk to a advanced auto parts, not once, but two times to go and buy a bulb that they need. I am furious about this and regret ever having work done at Sound Trax. They have now fixed the problem and hopefully nothing else goes wrong, but in the end this is ridiculous. If you want work done for your car, do not go here. The work is very mediocre, lazy and expensive. read more

First time coming here. They do smart start for breathalyzer in my car. I figured I would come here since it's so much closer then the one in mastic. Person who was helping me was beyond rude and had no clue what he was talking about. We bring in the breathalyzer which they need to calibrate it and the guy tells me he doesn't need it. Like are you kidding? Then he tells us to pull around back and was so rude about it telling us not to block their door and there is no where to park and snow all over the place. Then He stands at the door just starring at us were waiting for him to come over to tell us what's going on, and he just stands there till I got out of the car then says it's gonna be a while. Which it take the people in mastic no more than 15 minutes. We just left because it was ridiculous how this guy had no clue what he was doing, and just so rude to us.
