LETS ADD TO THE OVER CHARGED- Dishonest reviews! ive been living in the neighborhood for years and always have wanted to go into main st stereo. Now I know why I was told to elsewhere. FIRST: discussing my radio set up was much more complicated then it needed to be they come off intelligent but it's a way to scam you in their market. make sure your price check them because all parts and materials were doubled. SECOND: I left a $500 cash deposit back in the fall. I was out of the state and had to sell the car due to family emergencies. There was absolutely no compensation for my $500 cash deposit. In fact they even Returned the parts that were already paid for with no refund. Shout out to the crooks on sunrise high way I would recommend Best Buy, or Walmart for audio parts Don't waste your time getting taken advantage of! read more

Not handicapped accessible. I went by the store today to get. A new stereo with car play, Navigation, etc. I couldn't get in the building!!! In 2010 title lll of the ADA was passed requiring all businesses to make their buildings accessible. In this case it's a simple fix. 2 small ramps will do the trick. A shame because it's a local business and I refuse to spend my money there. read more

Car Electronics. I recently purchased a new car and I have to say, I hated the stock horn that came with it... so weak and pussy sounding - I was ashamed to honk at anyone... I picked up a nice loud Wolo unit but haven't had the time to install it so I called over to Main Street Stereo and they told me to pop by. After a few minutes we agreed on a cost and I brought the car in before work. These guys are ultra nice and so easy to deal with. They took my car and parts and called me within a two hours to tell me it was already complete. The car now sounds great, I can annoy people with loud horns and I couldn't be happier. Give Main Street a shot if you need any stereo, alarm or other electronic work done on your vehicle! Parking on the side. read more

I'm going to make this very short and simple for those that are looking to have some work done to their car or truck. I just had lights and a train horn installed in my truck and not only was the work done clean but the customer service was amazing. Thanks James... I love them. read more

I bring in my Tesla every other month to these guys for service and they're great. Kind and always treat me well. Customer service goes beyond expectations. read more

Don't trust them especially Steve He would promise you the world and Rip you off The owner isn't worth anything either As long as he gets your money so what. I was a client for HID light conversion And to polish clean a Head light The headlight was half ass cleaned and never put in the HID light components Just the Bulbs were Changed I still have a short. Don't trust them don't use them! read more

I was extremely please with my entire experience at Main Street Stereo. I needed something to keep me from continuing to scratch/damage the very low front fascia on my Porsche Panamera due to high curbs. I went in thinking of a camera, but after discussing multiple options with Steve, we settled on the Corvette sensor, the least expensive alternative. It was ordered and installed a week later. I personally thought Steve was extremely helpful, did not try to upsell me and very professional. Would definitely use them again. read more

Had HID lights installed along with accessories lighting. The car is new 2022 KIA and not designed for friendly modifications. Main Street crew on Sunday worked hard to figure out the issues and installed the lights successfully. There was a previous review which was not authorized and incorrect. I've had many installations over the years and never had a problem. Again, great job Steve and James. read more

I would have given Main St Stereo 5 stars but when I came to pick up my car it was parked on the extremely busy service road during 5:00 rush hour in the dark. They have a parking lot which wasn't full so I don't understand why they would have done that. On a positive note, Steve was an absolute pleasure to deal with and I am pleased with the install that was done in my car. read more

Let me start by saying that if there was a minus category they would get the top prize. As previous reviewers stated they will promise you the world and give you very poor workmanship. They are not worthy of saying that they are installers. Used poor materials and sloppy work to say the least and actually break your vehicle in the process and then to make it worse, they try to hide the mistakes not to mention highly overpriced. And if you discover the mistakes, they say they are only human. Totally unprofessional. Go somewhere else. read more

Also wanted to state that by James giving me the wrong info and pushing me on a subwoofer I didn't even need (thinking I did after I left until doing further research) he tricked me into putting $100 down payment where I felt obligated I had to use their service that's why I decided to do the lights and that's why they jacked the price up knowing I was only going to get lights from them and never returning read more

I want to echo some of the other reviews on this site. I had an issue with my Kenwood radio I purchased and had installed at Main Street a few years ago. I could not get my Bluetooth to connect to my phone. I tried everything I could at home and decided to stop in. Within 2 minutes they deleted the extra cell numbers stored in the radio and I was up and running. That is customer service! I appreciate great service so much, I had to recognize it on this site. Thank you Main Street. Great service always pays dividends!!! read more

Main St Stereo has been the most honest and most incredible staff to work with. They did an incredible job on my Challenger and I am without a doubt beyond happy with the installation, work and sound that my car has. I recommend this place to anyone looking to get their sound system upgraded. This place is the real deal. The professionalism is second to none. read more

4 days after purchasing my 2015 Audi S4 I brought it to Main St Stereo. I came to them for a difficult install of a remote start with drone mobile cell phone link. My car is a 6 speed manual and Audi doesn't make it easy to do an install like this. From first phone call James, educated me on the type of install my car would require, and explained how the process would go start to finish. This car is my baby, but I was reassured by Jame's confidence and explaination that I was in the right place to have this work done... the next day I picked up my car now with remote start access from my phone, as well as from my factory Audi key fob! The install was flawless, and I know my prise possession was well taken care of by James, Steve and the rest of the Main St Stereo crew. read more

I went to Main St Stereo today to have the remote start installed by my dealer upgraded because of the short range. James and steve explained everything to me and gave me an exellent price on a compustar 2 way remote. They installed it in less than 2 hours and did a beautiful job. I couldn't be more happy with the performance of the new remote starter, and will be recommending them to my coworkers and friends. read more

Horrible shop like everybody said they promise you the world have no idea what the hell they're doing you're better off going to Best Buy they make a lot of mistakes I'm not very knowledgeable the Owner just goes along with his incompetent employees save your money goes Somewhere else read more

What The F@#k?! I went in and talked to Steve about an alarm for my car yesterday. I have never had such a bizarre and painful experience talking to another human being before. He acted like I was an annoyance. When I asked a question he responded with an attitude. I asked him to explain to me the differences between the alarms they had and again he answered with a condescending tone like he couldn't be bothered. When I asked him for a business card upon leaving he gave me one with someone else's name on it. Today I went to Avenue Sound in Patchogue and was met with a professional sales associate who walked me through and explained everything I needed to know. He had my business in the first 5 seconds. That's how you treat a customer. That's how you make a sale. read more

Went there and spoke with Steve to get my remote starter fixed and was quoted a price of over $200. Since I have had new systems installed for less than that I decided to get a second opinion. Very glad I did because i got it repaired for $30. read more

Went here to get my truck blacked out with new rims and tires. They gave a fair price and the work came out perfect.

Bought a Jeep Wrangler with the "upgraded" sound package. Turned out to be complete garbage so I came to this shop from high recommendations from friends. Was not disappointed. Came with a strict budget and my expectations were blown away, I was sat down and walked through the building of the system from the ground up. I've had a lot of systems in my life, but none compare to this. Had some issues after installation and all of them were taken care of no questions asked! My jeep sounds crisp and clear, and hits incredibly hard! Kudos to Soo and the staff, top notch shop! Highly recommend. read more

Not sure what other reviewer is talking about. I just got my truck windows tinted and from the moment I walked in Soo took care of me. He was professional, courteous and even walked out to my truck to discuss my job. Never was he rushing me or treating me in a bad way. He also got me in without an appointment and got the job done while I waited. I would never go anywhere else but Main St Stereo for work like this. Maybe they cost a bit more than others but you don't get the facility, quality of work and personal service. Thanks again guys. read more

i had an amp and subwoofer added to the recently installed stereo in my car. also a car starter put in while there. steve helped me through tge process finding the right equipment for my car. at installation time he was going to reschedule due to a staffing issue on the day. i wasn't able to do this so he found a way to make it happen in spite of the problem. the work and results were outstanding. i highly recommend this shop. i could not be more satisfied with everything including customer service. read more

I will never step foot in this establishment again. Salesman was cocky and tried to sell me everything under the sun. I just went because my radio was not working. I'm a mom of two and this pompous salesmen was actually trying to sell me sub woofers and a brand new stereo. 1000 dollars!! They fixed my speakers after so much talk and bullshit explaining but still was trying to tell me my 5 year old radio was old and needed a new one. My radio still doesn't work right after all that. Please please please do not spend your money here. read more

Just a note to let folks know Main Street Audio is VERY customer service oriented. When I had an issue they reached out to me and resolved it to my satisfaction. I am taking the time to post this because I want to recognize good service. read more

Steve helped me out with an installation of a radio in my car on Friday. Not only was it done significantly earlier than expected (thats a good thing) but he even showed me, until I was comfortable with all the functions of it and even followed up with me the following Monday. I've had them do my auto-start already, and went back for this. Anything I need done I'm going to them. read more

Don't waste your time and money. The idiots there don't complete jobs and over charge and lie. Had a 4706viper 2 way remote start installed in November in my Subaru and it doesn't unlock while running. Was told an update for the "module" is suppose to come out. Was also told I have to use my factory fab to unlock the car while running. Never was contacted. Called viper they said no such thing. Competitor told me they put a different bypass than the one I was charged for. Took all day to do something that was suppose to take 3 hrs. Not sure how viper can call them "authorized" viper installers, when they mess up wiring. Wouldn't trust them to install an led bulb let alone the overpriced tin foil rims they sell. They'd probably steel the lugs or say it didn't come with any. read more

Expect to get ripped off. Charged $100 for a 5 minute system check. People are all nasty

This place is the biggest rip off. After they installed my GPS, I realized it wasn't working correctly. (I know how to install all the stuff myself, but I just didn't wanna waste the time). So anyway, I take the stereo out and noticed right away they just cut all the original stereo wires and electrical taped them to the after-market stereo. (I am the original owner by the way). How ghetto can you get? I mean seriously, when I do the job myself, I buy the kit and get the twist nuts. Plus these guys up-charge you on everything. Extremely pushy. Unlike the website says, they never give quotes over the phone. So you have to drive there just to meet in person for a quote. Then go back for your actual appointment. If you tell them the model of your car and what you need done, it's pretty obvious what the cost is going to be. So if you want a crap job, this is the place to go to. read more

I took my car to have the auto start checked as it wasn't working. I was informed that it was just some "loose wires" and I could make an appointment to bring it in. When I brought it back for repair, I was informed, after they had the vehicle all day, that I needed a whole new system at a cost of $300+. What happened?!? Needless to say, I took my car somewhere else only to find out it just needed to be reset since we had recently had a dead battery. It only cost $50! Talk about dishonest. I'll never step foot in there again. read more

I had new speakers put in and they sound great. Everyone was very knowledgeable and helpful. Great customer service.

Once again a very wonderful experience. I have had these guys do several installs in my yukon. They did an entire system including head unit, speakers, subs and amp as well as a remote start just to name a few. Steve was very professional and knowledgeable with all there products and provided me with many different options to chose from. They took as much time with me as I needed to figure out what I wanted to accomplish within my budget. Jay did a fabulous job on the installation work and answered any questions I had about the operation of the new equipment before I left. I live way out east and it's quite a drive for me to get up there but it has always been a great experience and well worth the extra time to get up there and I've never been disappointed. I definitely would recommend these guys for any and all of you car audio needs. read more

After fun banter with Steve, they helped me remedy any issues I had. Work done is fantastic. Would gladly do business there.

What a great experience -- and now, an equally great sounding car stereo! I had all the stock speakers replaced and added a J&L Microsub for some thump. Powering it all with a new 5 channel Kenwood amp and now it rocks! Soo's suggestions for the upgrades have turned my 2015 Mustang's piss-poor sounding stock system into something I can now finally appreciate. Jay's installation was perfect and clean. He answered every question I had - and I had many - and he was friendly, professional and an absolute pleasure to deal with. I simply couldn't be happier with the whole process, from beginning to end. Going back for tints next! read more

Wound up charging me 1200$ for a job that they had previously explained to me would only cost 550$ simply to install a new head unit and 2 door speakers which I already purchased. Go to avenue sound in patchogue they will have same quality of job but for half the cost. read more

main st stereo had a very good selection of stereos the prices could be a little better
