Car Electronics. I recently purchased a new car and I have to say, I hated the stock horn that came with it... so weak and pussy sounding - I was ashamed to honk at anyone... I picked up a nice loud Wolo unit but haven't had the time to install it so I called over to Main Street Stereo and they told me to pop by. After a few minutes we agreed on a cost and I brought the car in before work. These guys are ultra nice and so easy to deal with. They took my car and parts and called me within a two hours to tell me it was already complete. The car now sounds great, I can annoy people with loud horns and I couldn't be happier. LETS ADD TO THE OVER CHARGED- Dishonest reviews! ive been living in the neighborhood for years and always have wanted to go into main st stereo. Now I know why I was told to elsewhere. FIRST: discussing my radio set up was much more complicated then it needed to be they come off intelligent but it's a way to scam you in their market. make sure your price check them because all parts and materials were doubled. SECOND: I left a $500 cash deposit back in the fall. I was out of the state and had to sell the car due to family emergencies. There was absolutely no compensation for my $500 cash deposit. In fact they even Returned the parts that were already paid for with no refund. Not handicapped accessible. I went by the store today to get. A new stereo with car play, Navigation, etc. I couldn't get in the building!!! In 2010 title lll of the ADA was passed requiring all businesses to make their buildings accessible. In this case it's a simple fix. 2 small ramps will do the trick. A shame because it's a local business and I refuse to spend my money there. read more

I was extremely please with my entire experience at Main Street Stereo. I needed something to keep me from continuing to scratch/damage the very low front fascia on my Porsche Panamera due to high curbs. I went in thinking of a camera, but after discussing multiple options with Steve, we settled on the Corvette sensor, the least expensive alternative. It was ordered and installed a week later. I personally thought Steve was extremely helpful, did not try to upsell me and very professional. Would definitely use them again. read more

Had HID lights installed along with accessories lighting. The car is new 2022 KIA and not designed for friendly modifications. Main Street crew on Sunday worked hard to figure out the issues and installed the lights successfully. There was a previous review which was not authorized and incorrect. I would have given Main St Stereo 5 stars but when I came to pick up my car it was parked on the extremely busy service road during 5:00 rush hour in the dark. They have a parking lot which wasn't full so I don't understand why they would have done that. Let me start by saying that if there was a minus category they would get the top prize. As previous reviewers stated they will promise you the world and give you very poor workmanship. They are not worthy of saying that they are installers. Used poor materials and sloppy work to say the least and actually break your vehicle in the process and then to make it worse, they try to hide the mistakes not to mention highly overpriced. I want to echo some of the other reviews on this site. I had an issue with my Kenwood radio I purchased and had installed at Main Street a few years ago. I could not get my Bluetooth to connect to my phone. I tried everything I could at home and decided to stop in. Within 2 minutes they deleted the extra cell numbers stored in the radio and I was up and running. That is customer service! I appreciate great service so much, I had to recognize it on this site. 4 days after purchasing my 2015 Audi S4 I brought it to Main St Stereo. I came to them for a difficult install of a remote start with drone mobile cell phone link. My car is a 6 speed manual and Audi doesn't make it easy to do an install like this. From first phone call James, educated me on the type of install my car would require, and explained how the process would go start to finish. This car is my baby, but I was reassured by Jame's confidence and explaination that I was in the right place to have this work done... the next day I picked up my car now with remote start access from my phone, as well as from my factory Audi key fob! What The F@#k?! I went in and talked to Steve about an alarm for my car yesterday. I have never had such a bizarre and painful experience talking to another human being before. He acted like I was an annoyance. When I asked a question he responded with an attitude. I asked him to explain to me the differences between the alarms they had and again he answered with a condescending tone like he couldn't be bothered. When I asked him for a business card upon leaving he gave me one with someone else's name on it. Today I went to Avenue Sound in Patchogue and was met with a professional sales associate who walked me through and explained everything I needed to know. He had my business in the first 5 seconds. Bought a Jeep Wrangler with the "upgraded" sound package. Turned out to be complete garbage so I came to this shop from high recommendations from friends. Was not disappointed. Came with a strict budget and my expectations were blown away, I was sat down and walked through the building of the system from the ground up. I've had a lot of systems in my life, but none compare to this. Had some issues after installation and all of them were taken care of no questions asked! Not sure what other reviewer is talking about. I just got my truck windows tinted and from the moment I walked in Soo took care of me. He was professional, courteous and even walked out to my truck to discuss my job. Never was he rushing me or treating me in a bad way. i had an amp and subwoofer added to the recently installed stereo in my car. also a car starter put in while there. steve helped me through tge process finding the right equipment for my car. at installation time he was going to reschedule due to a staffing issue on the day. i wasn't able to do this so he found a way to make it happen in spite of the problem. the work and results were outstanding. i highly recommend this shop. i could not be more satisfied with everything including customer service. read more

I will never step foot in this establishment again. Salesman was cocky and tried to sell me everything under the sun. I just went because my radio was not working. I'm a mom of two and this pompous salesmen was actually trying to sell me sub woofers and a brand new stereo. 1000 dollars!! They fixed my speakers after so much talk and bullshit explaining but still was trying to tell me my 5 year old radio was old and needed a new one. My radio still doesn't work right after all that. Great experience - walked in just looking for a replacement stock sub for a Rubicon and decided to do more - no pressure at all. Was just looking while there - Steve picked out a Kenwood (which I later read about and got amazing reviews - as well as the speaker) that makes sense for me. Wound up with a great new head unit, Sub and an amp - that also reviewed exceptionally well - and the work was done very well. I am not a high-end-blow-your-ears kind of person.... I will be back for the other 4 speakers and 1 more amp shortly! Oh - and since I am not into these things - Steve was great explaining everything and phone support when I had no idea how to fix 1 item with Pandora/BT settings. Don't waste your time and money. The idiots there don't complete jobs and over charge and lie. Had a 4706viper 2 way remote start installed in November in my Subaru and it doesn't unlock while running. Was told an update for the "module" is suppose to come out. Was also told I have to use my factory fab to unlock the car while running. Never was contacted. Called viper they said no such thing. Competitor told me they put a different bypass than the one I was charged for. Took all day to do something that was suppose to take 3 hrs. Not sure how viper can call them "authorized" viper installers, when they mess up wiring. Wouldn't trust them to install an led bulb let alone the overpriced tin foil rims they sell. They'd probably steel the lugs or say it didn't come with any. read more

Steve helped me out with an installation of a radio in my car on Friday. Not only was it done significantly earlier than expected (thats a good thing) but he even showed me, until I was comfortable with all the functions of it and even followed up with me the following Monday. This place is the biggest rip off. After they installed my GPS, I realized it wasn't working correctly. (I know how to install all the stuff myself, but I just didn't wanna waste the time). So anyway, I take the stereo out and noticed right away they just cut all the original stereo wires and electrical taped them to the after-market stereo. (I am the original owner by the way). How ghetto can you get? I mean seriously, when I do the job myself, I buy the kit and get the twist nuts. Plus these guys up-charge you on everything. Extremely pushy. Unlike the website says, they never give quotes over the phone. So you have to drive there just to meet in person for a quote. Then go back for your actual appointment. If you tell them the model of your car and what you need done, it's pretty obvious what the cost is going to be. So if you want a crap job, this is the place to go to. read more

I took my car to have the auto start checked as it wasn't working. I was informed that it was just some "loose wires" and I could make an appointment to bring it in. When I brought it back for repair, I was informed, after they had the vehicle all day, that I needed a whole new system at a cost of $300+. What happened?!? Needless to say, I took my car somewhere else only to find out it just needed to be reset since we had recently had a dead battery. It only cost $50! Talk about dishonest. Once again a very wonderful experience. I have had these guys do several installs in my yukon. They did an entire system including head unit, speakers, subs and amp as well as a remote start just to name a few. Steve was very professional and knowledgeable with all there products and provided me with many different options to chose from. They took as much time with me as I needed to figure out what I wanted to accomplish within my budget. Jay did a fabulous job on the installation work and answered any questions I had about the operation of the new equipment before I left. I live way out east and it's quite a drive for me to get up there but it has always been a great experience and well worth the extra time to get up there and I've never been disappointed. What a great experience -- and now, an equally great sounding car stereo! I had all the stock speakers replaced and added a J&L Microsub for some thump. Powering it all with a new 5 channel Kenwood amp and now it rocks! Soo's suggestions for the upgrades have turned my 2015 Mustang's piss-poor sounding stock system into something I can now finally appreciate. Jay's installation was perfect and clean. Wound up charging me 1200$ for a job that they had previously explained to me would only cost 550$ simply to install a new head unit and 2 door speakers which I already purchased. Go to avenue sound in patchogue they will have same quality of job but for half the cost. read more
