ST Express buses are the nicest in the Puget Sound region and extremely valuable for traveling between the suburbs and downtown, especially on nights/weekend when the CT commuter buses aren't running. The drivers are typically courteous and will wait for you as you run to the bus, etc. The Sounder is nice to take once in a while even if you don't *have* to as it's very scenic. I've never taken Link Light Rail but it seems to be off to a fine start for such a young system. The buses and trains coexisting in the tunnel causes some delays, but overall they get along okay. Overall, ST doen't solve the problem of the Puget Sound transit system relying heavily on downtown Seattle as a hub, but it sure makes it easier to get there and back. read more

I cannot think of anything more unreliable than sound Transit. Trains are cancelled, stop for signal issues, overcrowded, and late seemingly often. For commuters that depend and pay for this service, their performance does not demonstrate a good value. The most frustrating moment comes when a service is cancelled and their automated response is "make other arrangements ". I would look forward to using that statement to my Customers, except I would be almost certainly fired. Kudos sound Transit, you continue to suck and get away with it. read more

Very bad experience with the bus driver(9611) Sound Transit 550. I suspect he never wants people get on the bus so that he most of time doesn't stop at the bus stop even required by the waiting people! Other buses are good, such like 545. read more

Route 554 where are you? Today my family traveled for the first time on Seattle buses. Few comments about the experience. Used your trip planner, told me 554 was bus #. Never saw 554 traveled on 550. (per sound transit trip planner and googlemaps). Googlemaps was much more helpful. We got on the bus at the Mercer Island park and ride and got off in the International District (China Town). Rates listed on the trip planner were $1:50 per person. On the bus it was $2.50. Im sure many people know you pay by sliding bills into a bill reader, if I had known I would have brought newer bills to make it faster. I brought $1 bills and it took a while. Bus was really packed on the way to China town, driver very friendly and helpful. On the way back driver was OK certainly not rude but we turned people away and the bus was not nearly as full. I wonder if friendly drivers can pack people better? These are small things but they add up and make me nervous about riding the bus on a more complicated route. Also when I tried to send myself the schedual when I tried to use it I found it to be a link to the web page. Not useful at all for my ipod. A text file would have been useful and what I expected. All in all a good trip we made it where we were going and back again. We did not have to park in Seattle, great bonus! Bus times on schedules are only guidelines (give or take 20 minutes today). So if the trip is part of the adventure and you are patient its a great way to go. We had a good day. Could have been better but it was fine. This is intended for riders of route 542 between the Greenlake P&R and Eastside (or vice-versa): This route purportedly is "EXPRESS" (like other ST routes). It most definitely is NOT. Your best bet is to try and catch the Seattle Metro 242 (no BS about being express w/ this one). The main issue w/ the 242 is that it's only dispatched every 30 mins. during peak morning/evening times. The GREAT thing about it is that, unlike the 542, it SKIPS the U-dist/Montlake traffic (y'know like a certain EXPRESS route should!) Catch either the 545 or 542 along the freeway and then use the "one bus away" app to see if a 242 is within 10 mins. before crossing the bridge (eastbound). If there is a 242 arriving than get off and transfer. Worst case is you'll arrive in Greenlake at the same time without having to sit through U-dist/Montlake traffic but you're more likely to get home 15 minutes sooner by sticking to the freeway and only having to wait through ONE stop between Evergreen Pt. and Greenlake. If the 542 is supposed to be EXPRESS, why doesn't it just follow the 242 route? If the 242 is so much better, why isn't it dispatched at shorter intervals during peak times?....and our civic government wonders why so many people prefer to drive. read more

Extremely POOR planning SYSTEM design and MANAGEMENT Orca Cards? Sound Transit provides ZERO solid documentation at any at the stations regarding process - buying tickets, swiping or using orca cards - But they do explain reloading your Orca card. They rely on some kind of "honor system" for riding the train. Orca machines are so far from taps and there are no instructions provided between the two on how any of it works. If you fail to comply you get accosted by a FAIR ENFORCMENT OFFICER who depending on how he feels takes a picture of your drivers license (isn't that illegal?) writes you a $124.00 dollar ticket regardless of circumstance - and you get to go to court in Shoreline?. for a $3.75 ticket. Planning? New parking was opened in Tukwila and within 2 months completely full by 6:30 am Auburn, Kent already full by 6:30am as well. Was this suppose to be Long term planning - 2 months? They seem to have taken 400 yards and put 150 of it to grass and dirt and put 350 parking spots in the rest SO - yes I am pissed I did receive a $124 ticket for "double tapping" my card at a reader. (no documentation for that either) Which by the way when you tap to get off the train they charge you for a full ride no matter your start and end points so - 1 tap is charged from Everett to Tacoma Why do they not have turnstyles? OR better documentation OR a yellow card tap at least next to the machines. $124 for a $3.75 train ticket? AND I will probably get another picture taken of my drivers license by FARE ENFORCMENT and a $124 ticket anyway for writing this - depending on how they feel... read more

I recently took a job downtown, and for the first 3 weeks I have to commute during peak time from the south end. Thank goodness I did a couple of practice commutes, because on those practice days I was unable to get on a train. Parking, parking, parking. It is absolutely ridiculous. I checked 4 stations. (Auburn, Kent, Sumner and Puyallup) Nothing. In auburn, I checked with the city to try and buy a one month parking pass. Nope. Not a resident. Diamond parking? All sold out of monthly parking spots. I guess I could park in the Mall parking at Kent Station and risk getting towed or park in the 4 hr parking spots in Auburn and risk a ticket, but it's just not worth it. Sound transit, you need to get your s**t together, seriously. read more

I am very concerned about the Sound Transit bus driver driving bus K9604 at a rate of speed 70 mph across the 520 going westbound at 545 Am on 3/22/2015 and sound transit will only let you complain about the driver when you are a bus rider so I reported this bus driver to WA State patrol due to the sound Transit line providing no help I have a update as far as I know nothing was done about this report not even with calling the Seattle City councilman in charge of transportatiion read more

So I normally take the 567 or 566 in the morning to get to work , driver are normally nice enough but only having a bus run half it's usual rote is idiotic , I'm sure I'm not been the only one screwed over because of it . If I'm being charge more even if it's just 25 cents more I expect it to be more reliable . The buses may look nicer than Metro but their service is not as good. Most of the Sound Transit buses that I take (510, 532, 535, 550) all seem to have tardy problems. I have seen drivers arrive at the time they should be leaving and took a long smoke break. The supervisor told the driver that he was late and should get going but he was in no hurry. The seats on some of the buses are so close together 5 foot ladies even have problems sitting in them. The trains are not used enough. They should be running ALL the time not just commuting hours. On Sunday the trains sits at the station while on and it doesn't move all day. Big waste of money and resources if you ask me. - On a side note I hate seat hogs, you know what I am talking about: people who take an end seat so it's harder to share and the people who take up three seats. There are other people using the PUBLIC service. Sit up straight and try to take up as least amount of space a possible to ensure that all riders have a place to sit. read more

This system is short tiny and requires massive improvements to even begin to truly serve the needs of the population it serves. It has no funding for the long term vision that I am aware of thus I believe it is a red herring nothing more, nothing less. read more

Just a warning that ORCA has recently been having a big problem with overcharging. If you have a purse on your card rather than a pass, you may want to go online and check every transaction. Last night (3/27/12), I was charged $5.50 for what should have been a $3.75 trip (bus/train). They just emailed me back admitting that they were having some problems with the bus transfer portion of trips. While they said they'd credit my card, I can't help but wonder how much they are making off the folks who don't catch it. read more

as far as buses go, these run very smoothly. i used this system while i was visiting seattle and found it very easy to navigate. bus drivers were very nice and patient. i paid 3 usd to go two zones (one way) during peak hours and was able to use the bus for free around downtown. way cheaper than a taxi! read more

King Street Station for the Sounder Train is very clean and there are always Service Agents out and about (approximately two) walking around. They offer to help if you are obviously lost or dont know which side of the platform to stand on. The Sounder Train itself is very clean and convenient. There are bathrooms in each car and places for bicycles. I believe one car has the capability to help folks who are handicapped. I enjoy commuting by train knowing that it is clean and fast. We dodge all the traffic although there's sometimes maintenance issues that may come up on the train or traffic from the BNSF trains. read more

The 510 has horrible service. At night from 5 - 6 pm there is almost no service. People wait for 30 to 60 minutes for a bus that should come every 15 minutes per the schedule. The problem is that the 510/512 is a loop and when it gets behind the time stacks up. It comes south as the 512 then switches in seattle to the 510 and heads north. Other buses come more regularly. Most nights the wait is 40+ minutes so figure out a different route/service. read more

I used to take Sound Transit from Auburn to Downtown Seattle and was never late for class. Now I take Sound Transit from Downtown Seattle to Southcenter mall, the Doctor, and The Dining Dog and never had a problem. read more
