I don't know why I would not like the Bellevue Transit Center. Super convenient whenever I want to bus to the Eastside from Seattle. The transit center is generally clean. The Starbucks next to the Transit Center is closed on Sundays. They really should open on Sundays just for several hours because during winter time it gets way too cold outside waiting for the bus.

The police sub-station is permanently closed.

If you're old enough to remember the urban decay of the 70's, or if you've been to Detroit proper in the past decade then you may feel at home at the Bellevue Transit Center. Ok, well maybe it's not that bad, but in 2012, in a fairly affluent city like Bellevue, what qualifies as a "center" falls woefully short of what one might expect. Let's talk about what's missing at this transit center. * There is no kiosk to purchase or add value to your Orca card. * There is no one working the information booth. In fact, it appears to have been permanently mothballed. * There is no wi-fi (although SBUX is close by). * There are no real-time signs listing the anticipated arrival of the next bus. * There are no restrooms (closed?). * There used to be, but there is no longer any bike racks or lockers. * There used to be, but there is no longer a police sub-station. Here's what the transit center does have. * A mostly(!) covered area to queue up for your bus. * Benches. * Waste receptacles. * Pay telephones. * A small self-service information area across the street from the transit center. After writing the above, I decide to do some research on why the transit center is so lacking and I found an article dated June 2006 that stated, "The $3.5 million center includes a Bellevue Police substation, restrooms, bike racks, public telephones, customer service and rider information. Later this year, a public art sculpture will be installed at the transit center (http://yhoo.it/12ByCZp). So it would appear that after a promising start, the entire project has lost some steam, even as other transit initiatives across the lake in Seattle have been funded an unprecedented rates. That's really too bad. As anyone familiar with Bellevue knows, the richest and most powerful man in that city is Kemper Freeman who hates transit and loves single occupancy vehicles. (See: http://bit.ly/12BvLzK.) I'm sure that Freeman hated the idea of a transit center when it first went in. Let's hope he doesn't have the last laugh as this facility continues to decay. The City of Bellevue needs to allocate the funds to modernize their downtown transit center so it draws more people to mass transit and gets more single occupancy vehicles off the road.

It is above ground, and the tracks are elevated, with escalators and elevators providing easier access. Our family had a chance to visit, parking in one of the 1,500 nearby parking stalls, and taking the 2 line to it's northernmost terminus in downtown Redmond, and back. In the near future, the '2' line will continue to Seattle, eventually going all the way to Lynnwood. Similar to the project at Redmond Technology Station, this facility has been upgraded tremendously. This station now has covered waiting areas for westbound buses and the surface level parking lot has been replaced by a large parking garage. This makes taking the bus into downtown Seattle for major sporting events and concerts more convenient. It also offers a faster way to get to a location in Bellevue or Redmond on the 2 Line rather than transferring buses in Downtown Bellevue like before. Also I believe the garage may be used to access the Mercer Slough Nature Park which has an entrance right next to it. Thus making it very convenient to take public transportation to access this park's features which include a blueberry farm. I am glad that the public transportation connectivity in Bellevue is getting better and better with this station as evidence of this.

I think it is 4 or 5 stories so there is quite a bit of space here. I haven't seen it fill up to capacity, though I haven't utilized this park and ride regularly on weekdays. If you work in Seattle, live on the I-90 side of Bellevue or nearby, then this park and ride would be the best one to utilize. There are commuter Metro buses that take you from here directly into Downtown Seattle in the morning and back to Bellevue in the evenings. Also numerous local routes on the Eastside stop here. Sound Transit route 554 that runs from downtown Seattle to Issaquah used to stop inside the park and ride, but now stops only at the Eastgate Freeway Station that is a short walk from the parking towers. It offers another option to get to downtown Seattle during the weekdays. When I needed to use it, I have found this facility to be useful for weekday jaunts into Seattle. I like that there is covered parking unlike some other locations on the Eastside. I would however only suggest parking at Eastgate on the weekdays if you are headed to downtown Seattle. Mercer Island Park & Ride is a better option traveling into Seattle on the weekends since the 550 and 554 stop there meaning the wait is shorter and the parking lot is never very full. If you parked here and take the 554 back, make sure to watch the timetable as it is either a half hour or a full hour wait for one depending on the time and day.

A multi-story parking garage was built several years ago to provide additional parking spaces at this park and ride. I don't use this park and ride very often since I live in Bellevue. The park and rides at Eastgate, Mercer Island and South Bellevue are more convenient. Though if you live in Kirkland, this is probably your best option if you are going to park and commute into Seattle from here. There are a few buses that stop here. A few of them are more localized as they make stops only within Kirkland, though there is a bus that goes to Kenmore. And then there is the Metro bus 255 which goes to Kingsgate and Downtown Seattle. There are buses every 30 minutes each way on the weekends. But there is more frequent service (10-15 minutes) on weekdays. The good thing about waiting for the bus here is that buses stop in the same location in both directions. Though you do need to make sure you read the destination sign to make sure you are catching the right bus. The park and ride itself is fine. I just don't frequent it often because it is farther away and there isn't as much bus service to places where I am going. It is a bit more convenient if you are headed to the U-District and north Seattle as the buses that stop here going to Seattle use 520 instead of I-90.

He wasn't too friendly as I didn't like how he scolded my friend and I for taking too long to get inside the bus after he checked our passports outside to get in. (It was raining so I had to take time to carefully put my partially wet passport back and close my large umbrella before going inside) I didn't feel 100% safe with the driver's driving in heavy rain. On the highway, he drove a little bit faster than i felt was necessary, and he drove a little too close near other cars. As for the bus stop area, Some things i wish Flixbus did was provide a place with shelter and seats for times the rain was pouring. There was only a sign post at the Everett bus stop. The weather was terrible and my friend and I had to stand in the pouring rain and string winds without any shelter for 15 minutes. Second, the instructions for the meeting place was unclear. There should be a real picture of the actual meeting place to reference instead of words or street names and a confusing description of the area. I was so lost. I had to ask the transit office to point me in the right direction after I wandered around aimlessly for 15 minutes looking for the flixbus bus stop. Flixbus provides free wifi. The free wifi was terrible for YouTube video streaming but it was ok for web surfing and such. On a positive note, the timing of arrival and departure was timely and there were no issues that negatively impacted my trip in a big way. Overall, Ill give it 3/5 stars based on this trip. Long story - my daughter forgot her suitcase in the cargo hold after traveling from Seattle to Portland. She reported it to FlixBus right away, and the system told her to keep checking back, and it could take up to two weeks. She checked every day, and about a week later it said the suitcase was found (yay!), and to please wait for an email to tell her how to get it. That email never came, and she finally called and talked to an unhelpful human who at least gave her the name of the local bus company (ecoShuttle in Sherwood). Unfortunately, it had been two weeks by then, and they had no idea who had found it, or who had logged it as found, or what eventually happened to it. Very frustrating to think that if we had just been told by FlixBus to contact ecoShuttle directly right away, we might have recovered it. Learn from our loss, and don't trust the FlixBus lost and found system!
