We had 18 feet of laurel bushes that we needed removed. With the help of a neighbor I chopped them down to stump level, and then talked to Brian. I sent him photos and gave him the specs, he gave me a bid over the phone, and his team, led by his wife, showed up the next day and did a great job of grinding down stumps and roots and getting it all out. There were some other plants we wanted to keep and they did a great job of working around them without damaging them. Couldn't have asked for more. I had a 24" cedar stump on the property line that I had been putting off dealing with. I exchanged a few photos with Brian via email. He gave me a reasonable price based upon the photos, which was better than a competitor that came by and wanted to do the work immediately. As it was a small job, he was able to fit me into his schedule within two days. He asked if I needed a small holly stump ground out, which he did without adding to the price. We had Sound Stump Removal remove several stumps on our property. Overall, Brian was very quick and efficient at removing all of the stumps. The pricing was also quite reasonable. I would definitely recommend the business for residential stump removal. My only complaint was that there was a thick root left just below the surface at one of the stumps that Brian missed. During the initial estimate, Brian said he would chase down large roots as long as they were visible. It's unclear how visible this root was initially, but it was close to the surface after the removal and made planting a new tree after the stump had been removed somewhat difficult. read more

Very responsive and at my house the next day. They made short work of the stump in my backyard at what seems to be a pretty standard rate, from what I saw from other quotes. I've never had a stump ground before so I'm not sure if it's the average offering to leave the shavings behind, but I really just wanted all of it gone. I should've asked if it was an option. Very helpful and quickly responded to my request for removal of stumps in very difficult to reach sections of my yard.

I called Sound Stump Removal on 3/1/22. I had gotten a bid from another company but Brian's bid was about half the cost. He and I walked the fence line and I explained my expectations. He offered a few more things he could do during the job. He showed me some mulch left over from a previous job in the back of his truck and said that all the cuttings would be mulched and spread around. Then he said he would be out the next morning with his crew to get to work. I was surprised since there had been a lot of rain and the rain drainage ditch was running like a little creek. I asked him if he had equipment that reached over field fencing to cut back vegetation on the other side and he said he did. They came out the next day and worked about 4 hours in the pouring rain. I did not get a chance to inspect the work until the next day. He had cut vegetation up to the fence line with very little evidence of work beyond it as discussed. I contacted him about it and he sent out his two workers who were more realistic than their boss. Turned out the ground was way to soggy for the work to be done. I was left with huge ruts and thick sticks and tree branches all along the fence line and in the drainage ditch. I called him 2 or 3 times after that asking for the sticks and branches to be cleaned up and for the trimming on the other side of the fence. The rain drainage ditch is now full of cuttings which will cause my driveway to flood. I used to be able to mow that side of my drive but I was left with horrible ruts that my riding mower gets stuck in and I had to pick up the mess left that my mower cannot go over without damage. The point of the work that needed to be done was to make my mowing work easier -- not create a lot of work for me before I could mow in that area. He grabbed the job quickly to beat out competition even though he had to know the ground could not support his equipment. He did not mulch anything just left debris. Had I known the mess he would leave -- I would have worked with the higher bidder who told me up front that he felt the ground was too wet. So I wasted $1,300 on very poor work and additional work for myself. read more
