The tattoo artist, Rodney, wasn't there, but Coral showed us his portfolio and gave us his cell phone number. I have to admit I was a little hesitant after seeing Rodney's portfolio. He is a talented artist but his entire portfolio was black-work, and I wanted bright and bold colors. Luckily, Rodney called and we set up a consultation appointment. A week later, Rodney showed me three designs he had drawn that were exactly what I wanted - a large and colorful three-toed Japanese dragon with cherry blossoms that wrapped around my shoulder. My husband was so impressed that he had Rodney do a Japanese octopus on his arm. Both tattoos are absolutely amazing. I can't speak highly enough about the whole experience.

Sorry I didn't explain the type of imagery with another artist I didn't even know about, also sorry I didn't know you don't like Alex Grey. Anyway, we have some back and forth on the image and agree to start on just a half sleeve, but taking the same amount of sessions... weird I know, plus it only covers the outside of my arm (not finished). It's not worth nearly 4k I spent, if you ask me. Every time I went in I felt like I was over charged and under worked and treated like some a** hole who didn't deserve Paco's valuable time. Unplanned sessions kept getting added on and very little work actually got done the 6 hours I was usually there. Maybe I shouldn't have told someone who's in charge of handing out sobriety tokens (Paco), that I use psychedelics, but maybe I shouldn't feel like I have to be sensitive to a tattoo artists lifestyle options. Dude is a primadonna, who really doesn't care about you (unless you are vigilant at making him feel special, and right). Needless to say I felt like Paco and his wife hustled me out of a lot of my hard earned money for a tattoo that's sub 275$/hr, and gives me bad feelings every time I think about it. But you will end up with the highest quality work that can be found in any shop, anywhere. And the shop is clean, friendly, helpful and all those things you'd expect from a quality establishment. I was looking for fine line tattoo artists in the area on yelp and after looking through his instagram, decided his art style was in line with what I wanted. Day of, I brought my boyfriend to keep me company. Pretty easy to find, lots of parking, Ian's studio is in the back corner of the salon. He showed me the sketch and then we discussed placement and size. He printed out a few sizes to give me an idea. Ian got to work right away and I didn't feel any pain, just very light pressure. The process was pretty uneventful, Ian is very professional. Afterwards, he gave me some aftercare instructions and sent me on my way. A year later, my tattoo still looks great. Booking with him was smooth, he was responsive and told me to meet him at eleven15. When I walked into the building I had to take a step back and see if I was in the right place. The area was very welcoming, and I was greeted upon entering. There were other artists tattooing that day and they all looked very focused , I met up with Ahn and we went over my idea. He came back with an image and it looked incredible , I gave him the green light. At my first session, he told me that he was going to free hand and I was confident that he was going to do a great job. He has a steady hand and is an artist that is Incredibly talented, like It's unbelievable the amount of skill he has. He turns a blank canvas into literal art.
