Which is way I should have not purchased the Mac&cheese. Macaroni noodles and shredded cheese melted within. A serious faux pas for macaroni and cheese. I observed how many customers appeared to be regulars, and several people were ordering additional food to take home. I ordered two full meals. The main dishes are served with cornbread dressing on the savory side or rice. One suggestion for P&D would be to offer a brown gravy option alongside that is not meat-based specifically for the dressing. The highlights for me were the yams, fried fish, and pork chop and red velvet cake. Those dishes were well seasoned & well-prepared. Without being critical of the other side dishes this is what I would say: Sharing a few side dishes with your group before committing to larger portions. If you're a singleton stick to yellow rice, yams, and beans. While some food choices did not meet my palate, I can understand why this place has a loyal following. The welcoming familial atmosphere, location, and comfort food are sometimes the basics of what people need to get through the day. While we waited for another Lyft, multiple people from a large conference I was attending showed up expecting the restaurant to be open. Even more heartbreaking was watching an older couple arrive on foot, one of whom was blind and relying on a guide, only to find a locked door. As someone who intentionally supports Black owned businesses whenever I can, this was genuinely disappointing. I wanted to spend my money here. My hope is that the owners take this as constructive feedback because customer service begins long before someone places an order. Communication is part of the experience. A few simple improvements could make a huge difference: *Keep Google, Yelp, Apple Maps, and delivery platforms updated with accurate hours. * If closing unexpectedly, post the update across all platforms as soon as possible. * Leave a clearly visible sign that one doesn't have to squint and get out of a car to read with the "reason" for the closure and the date and time you'll reopen. No reason being listed was more frustrating. * Pin the closure announcement to social media so customers see it before making the trip. * Consider enabling voicemail with updated hours for customers who call ahead.
