Dining at Soule Chicago is more than a meal--it's an experience. Beautiful ambiance, soulful flavors, and a space that invites you to slow down and enjoy every bite. Soule Chicago really got it right--great energy, amazing staff, and soul food that delivers every time.

I've been to this place twice, once for happy hour and another time for dinner. The food was amazing and the drinks were perfect! The staff was super friendly and the DJ made for a great atmosphere. I'm planning to go back.

Yes, it's good! Okay, now that we got that out of the way, here are the deets... Food: We went for a happy hour special which included $1 whole jerked and/or fried wings, $6 Lemon Drops, and half off apps. When I say everything was good, everything was GOOD! We had jerk and fried wings, catfish sliders, creamy garlic shrimp, lamb chops, and fried green tomatoes. Delicious. May be a bit salty for some, but was perfect for us. Service: Prompt, friendly, efficient Ambiance: Beautiful decor, clean, welcoming Note: Yes, area is sketchy, but GO ANYWAY. Totally worth it, I will return.

Our server Mya was AWESOME

Soulé has great service! From the lovely cute hostess to the great , funny personality of our server Mya. One of my favorite things was the awesome music they played! Throwback R&B hits from Michael Jackson to Prince to Patty LaBelle and Jennifer Holiday.. you will be singing your heart out! It's played low enough where you can still have a great conversation. The BBQ Party Wings dipped in Hennessy was pretty good. Served in a small skillet you get'em piping hot. The seafood gumbo was good just a bit too salty. The fried catfish is their signature I think, it was good, just nothing special. Red beans & rice was tasty, but the greens were too spicy for me, I DO NOT like anything spicy. The banana pudding tasted like it came from a can, it was "ok" just not special. I heard the fried chicken was absolutely delicious, but I didn't try it. All in all, I would definitely come back and order something light, like the wings, because I definitely loved the vibe and the great service.

Lamb Chops, Dirty Rice and Green Beans

This rating is an average of 3 because of the inconsistency of the service, food and beverages. The ambiance is pretty swanky, laced with gold accents and modern furnishings. It's a cute spot and would be nice for a private event or birthday party. The food and non-alcoholic beverages left a lot to be desired. The consensus from our party of 8 was that the non-alcoholic beverages were overly sugary and lacked flavor. Regarding the food, our entrees were inconsistent. The best sides were the dirty rice, green beans, collard greens and the wings. We would not recommend the macaroni and cheese at all. It had lots of pepper but no cheese. In addition, lots of us ordered lamb chops, requested to be cooked medium. All the lamb chops were made well done. Even asking to be remade medium, they still came out well done. We were very disappointed. I will say that the best part of our experience is the service we received from our hostess and server Linda, which was top-tier. She was attentive, accommodating, hospitable and friendly. I would not recommend this restaurant, however I hope that they can take the feedback provided and made some necessary changes.

Catfish Plate with two sides

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while. On this occasion, we didn't have reservation which I think is heavily recommended as I could see how busy this places stays. The takeouts section was booming with people picking up their food to go. We were lucky to come between the 2pm and 345pm reservation block and they happen to have a table. We were grateful for their accommodation. Our server was Linda. Very nice young lady who was attentive and could discuss the ins and outs of the menu. The menu has a range of items but catfish tugged at our hearts because it isn't something that I make that often. My husband and I both opted to get the fried catfish plate which came with two sides. I got yams and macaroni and cheese. He got the greens and macaroni and cheese. No complaints on the food at all. The catfish was plump and fried to perfection. The seasoning was just right. Yams were sweet but good. Greens were seasoned well also and very tender but not falling apart. All in all, we enjoyed our meal. Now I will say that the music is louder than all getup. Music was good but someone with sensitive ears or wanting to talk a bunch, may not be the venue for you. For dessert we grabbed the banana pudding and the warm pound cake with ice cream. Pound case was soft, dense and full of yummy butter. That dessert was delicious. Banana pudding was okay. I don't like imitation banana so that was a let down. Next time I will try the peach cobbler. The owner needs to take a bow because her staff are professional, nice and prompt with getting our food out. It was nice seeing younger young men working hard and learning good business acumen.

Out of town visitors who wanted some good Soul food. Jason the hostess managed to sit us promptly while making wheelchair accommodations. The food is great and the overall ambiance is excellent. Looking around you can see everyone enjoying their night

Catfish, grits, greens and yams are a go to off you don't have time or feel like making a home-cooked soul food dinner. Jerk wings were good. Nice flavor and good size asparagus. This was a delivery

I came here with my bestie for happy hour offering! We very pleased with the offering once we clarified and got a different more knowledge waitstaff ! The restaurant is quite large and had a dj that night!

Decent enough! The food was good, the service at the time was not the greatest. My friend I went with had a good experience with service other times though so may have just been a one off! Good drinks

The sides were delicious. The lamb chops got high high praise from the table, but the chicken was quite dry, despite being dark meat. The service was good, and the interior of the restaurant is beautiful and creates a perfect vibe to eat.

This is a great soulful restaurant. The menu had so many good choices that it was difficult to finally decide. Linda was our server, and she took good care of us. Food is seasoned and cooked well. My only request is that they turn the music down a tad during brunch.

I had only been to the initial location on Chicago Ave and I'm happy to report the new Soulé location is just as good! There's ample free street parking. I absolutely love the decor, color scheme etc Greeted by the hostess who graciously made seating changes for my party and took our group photo. I had the shrimp and grits (drools), 3 friends had the catfish with sides and they loved it. Another friend had the hennesy wings and another the salmon and shrimp over mashed potatoes. The food was a 10/10! Attentive server and ample space inside as well. Didn't feel crowded at all and the music wasn't too loud either. Drinks were also reasonably priced and well made. Will definitely return.

Are people having to show their vaccination cards here? Just curious

Yes, it's required in any Cook County restaurant

Drink menu? Or plan on BYOB per the $10 cork fee? TIA. Editing to mean boozy drinks, ha! We will BYOB!

It should be on the bottom of their menu online. It's mostly pop and lemonade. Special shout out to the homemade lemonade. It's BYOB with a cork fee which we also did. They were pretty helpful so $10 was well spent!

Are they doin done in now?

They were not doing dine in when I went on July 3rd.

Do they have a parking lot?

No street parking is available.

Do they allow BYOB? What is the corkage fee?

Yes they allow BYOB and the corkage fee is $10.

It's surprisingly hard to find one that's consistently good, but Crab King is by far my favorite. What sets them apart is the sauce and seasoning. It's flavorful without being overly salty, and the medium spice level is just right. I've been to Lowcountry plenty of times, and I personally find their boils way too salty. I honestly don't understand the hype when compared to Crab King. As of now, this is the best seafood boil I've had in Chicago. Of course, if a new spot opens, I'll happily give it a try, but Crab King is currently my #1. Their happy hour is also hard to beat. The seafood boil deals are great, and the $1 oysters are an added bonus. If you're a seafood boil lover, I definitely recommend giving this place a try!

Even when I ate meat. The shrimp poboy was great. One thing I do have to say is a bit suspect is them using AI digital ads, I don't know what that's about, when their food looks good using real pictures. It just makes me a bit suspicious, like what do y'all have going on that y'all have to use AI? And the food looks so unappetizing on the AI poster... It looks weird, I don't too much trust businesses that use AI marketing. It's such a small thing to cut corners with, and I really don't like the patronize food establishments that are in the habit of cutting corners, because what else are they cutting corners on?

When you walk in all people in your party has to be with you - even though you go up to the register to order on your own. Once we got our meals we were very excited and quiet as we all munched. The corn bread is just as good as i remembered. The beignets were also AMAZING! It was so much spray that I genuinely felt like it may have gotten on my food. On top of that, he repeatedly dropped things around our table and seemed to have a difficult time maneuvering through the dining area. It honestly made me wonder if the table placement itself was part of the problem The food service was also disappointing. My meal came out first, and I had to wait quite a while for my sister's chicken biscuit. When it finally arrived, the chicken was not cooked all the way through. My pancake and bacon were both good. (This will come up later, but she helped accommodate my personal taste for one of the menu items). Lighting: I'm personally not the biggest fan of dim lighting overall, but I can understand if that's the atmosphere they're going for. Noise Level/Crowdedness: medium-ish noise level (at least at the time we came). We had an early reservation on a Saturday, and within 10 minutes of arriving, the tables were packed. Seating is a bit too dense for my comfort level, but that might just be me. Price: definitely on the higher end, but so worth it for special occasions at least. I forgot to take a picture of the menu, but I'll name prices based off another picture I found online from July 2026. Drinks: MLK $18 -- 6/10 I was really excited to try the MLK since it was basically described as a green tea shot with cocktail ratios, but it kinda didn't deliver for me? Gin & Juice (Peach) $10 -- 5/10 (according to my partner) Food: Salmon Egg Rolls: $16 -- 3/10 Unfortunately, came out terribly lukewarm, and with some bites, downright cold on the inside. Both of us were unsure if that was how they were supposed to be or if they were just not fresh and had been sitting in the kitchen without a warmer for a while. We agreed that if they were at least hot ("freshness" not withstanding), then we both would have given them a higher rating. (We're both pretty nonconfrontational people, so that's why we didn't say anything to our server). Lemon Pepper Chicken Alfredo: $34 -- 9/10 (according to my partner) Definitely incredible, and I can understand why it's one of their more popular options. Pasta Mardi Gras: $26 -- 10/10 I was about to also get the Lemon Pepper Chicken Alfredo, but since it was our first time here, I didn't want to limit what we tried (and it sounded too delicious to pass up). Nautica warned me that it had a bit of a kick to it, but when she saw how worried I looked, she immediately offered to tell the kitchen to lower the spice level. (I want to say my partner has an average spice tolerance, so in terms of scale we usually assume anything that's mild to him is 3x more spicy to me). I know lowering/removing spice/certain ingredients oftentimes takes away the integrity of a dish, but I was so so grateful to Nautica for offering to lower the spice, because that was truly one of the best pastas I have ever had. I really hope when we come back, the server/kitchen is willing to lower the spice again. Butter Cake: $14 -- 9/10 We were surprised to see only one dessert on the menu, and Nautica told us there's a reason for that and that we absolutely had to try it. She was so right. We almost ordered a second one, but we said we'll just have to come back. Receipt: This isn't going to affect whether or not we return, or whether I recommend this place to other people, but just as a heads up to future customers -- there was an automatic gratuity of 20ish% (I can't remember the exact percentage, since this was a month ago now). Nautica was very transparent about this and explained that this 20ish% is shared between all staff, and then she said it was up to us how much additional gratuity we wanted to give her individually. I know this might turn some people off, and admittedly had we known this in advance, it might have turned us off as well, but at the end of the day I still think this restaurant is worth the visit. That being said, this is for management: I won't claim to understand running a restaurant, but adding an automatic gratuity to have customers pick up the bill when it comes to paying your staff fair wages (and that's assuming it really does go to staff) is a deeply concerning business practice. Regardless of my personal opinions on the food, your staff deserve to have a consistent wage not dependent on the finances and whims of your average customers.
