Kisha’s Kitchen - Old chicken wings I wasted my money trying to support black owned business - Soul Food Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

1st visting this restaurant I be I be supporting my black business but we need to do better high prices and tasty food. I brought lamba pot roast grill salmon mac, cheese green beans, dressin, greens, l feel like as a cook everything should be fresh picked and coojed right like big mama would. Lets go the corn bread was paste, The dtessin was stove top, the mac and green beans were canned, the grill salmon was hard, the pot roast was tuff, the greens were canned. Im very disappointed of my 3 meals the food was tasty tho. read more

The food was extremely good and tasteful I definitely wasn't disappointed with presentation of how my food looked; the service was very inviting and the young lady was very friendly; the down side to the atmosphere was it was only a take-out restaurant only and I took a Lyft ride into town which was an hour away from my hotel only to be there for 25 mins and had to take a Lyft ride back to our hotel which costed $90 dollars...If you plan on eating here make sure you're driving your own vehicle. read more

Kisha’s Kitchen - My dinner was fried catfish, collard greens, yams, and cornbread - Soul Food Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

The food is good, haven't been in a while. It's carry out, but they was suppose to get a dine in.

I read reviews of owner attitude and it has since discourage me on ever spending my hard earned dollar here ....Best of luck to this business though read more

This was my first visit to this restaurant. The service was unprofessional and plain rude by way of the owner. The owner was offended when I couldn't understand her question ,through bulletproof glass , when I came to pick up my food. I called her on it. How it ended, she snatched my food I paid for out of my hands and said, " tell em Kisha gave you your money back!" A different young lady gave me my food once finding my order was resolved (my name was mis spelled, no worries). She was pleasant. I couldn't believe it. Her restaurant has great reviews (about the food). I can't speak on the food because she took it from me, literally! I can't see this business prospering unless she is behind the scenes with that type of service and attitude. Let see if I receive my refund, stay tuned read more

The hot honey sauce isn't hot at all it's very sweet, the greens didn't come with turkey as listed. Otherwise the taste of everything was on point. The owner has a very nasty attitude and makes the atmosphere uncomfortable, I didn't even wanna order at the window I ended up ordering it for pickup after seeing how she treats her customers. That being said the only reason she got any stars was bc her food really is THAT good, the chicken and catfish was fried perfectly and tasted good, the Mac and cheese was great. She just needs to work on her customer service read more

The food is amazinnnnnng! When I can catch a break from work this is my go to if I'm in the area. Soulllllll food & fast service. Can't wait to enjoy the yams & macaroni again! read more

This restaurant has been popping up in my feed for a while. I have a rental property in the area and decided to check it out. Since I hadn't ordered anything before I called ahead to see if I could preorder. The young lady explained that all phones order must be prepaid. Decided to just make the drive and place my order and to my surprise it was well worth the drive and the wait. The food was hot and very favorable. Absolutely delicious, I believe they also cater, so when I want some extra sides for an event I will definitely keep Kisha's Kitchen in mind. Well done!! read more

I ordered from here today to try it out! It is a take out only establishment. I ordered pick up thru Grub hub and after standing in line, my order was soon ready. The customer service was excellent . The cashier was very kind. I could not wait to taste the food so I open it in car. I was elated to taste excellence. I ordered the hot honey catfish with green beans and Krack & cheese. It was delicious! The green beans was fresh and the catfish was exceptionally delicious., I can't wait to try the other food! I will definitely be back soon! read more

Just had an incredible meal at Kisha's Kitchen! Kisha KISHA. KISHA!!!!!! The honey hot fried chicken was crispy, juicy, and fried to absolute perfection. The greens were clearly the real deal--fresh, leafy, and full of flavor (definitely not from a can). The Krack and cheese lived up to the name: moist, gooey, and addictive. And the cornbread? Soft, melt-in-your-mouth goodness with just a hint of lemon extract (maybe) that took it to another level. I enjoyed every single bite. read more

I drove a long distance to enjoy this experience. I called first and no one answered it said it closed at 8 and we got there at 630. The young girl was nasty rude short said it. Closed for taking orders customer service was horrendous. I was so excited to eat there but behind that nastiness I'll pass. I refused to pay high prices to eat with nasty customer service. She needs to be trained first impressions go a long way. I ended up at Jordan's and that customer service was horrible as well. read more

Welp I really wanted to patronize but they're cash only!!! That type of business does not benefit anyone except the business owner. I'll come back one day and edit my post when I have cash on me. Update: After this reply, I guess I won't be back. Geez...terrible response from an owner! We must do better. And to the owner, I am entitled to my opinion about cash only businesses. I clearly said I would be back after I had cash on me and edit the review. Now I will share your response with my food group on FB and never think about returning. SMH! read more

The food was seasoned well and ready at the scheduled time. The catfish crunch is unmatched. The food was seasoned well. I wish I would have gotten the wings with sauce on the side they wet soggy but still good. The mac was good I like more cheese. read more

This small take out place is up the street from my house. I frequently visit after work. I enjoy their fried catfish the best. It's really crispy and seasoned well. The service can be average at times. There can also be like a 20 minute wait for your order, but other than that, it's a cool go to spot. The sides are decent as well. Especially the macaroni and cheese. read more

I can't believe I am just finding this place. Hands down, the best soul food on the South Side. While it is exclusively take-out and catering, the service is on point. I had the buffalo lemon pepper catfish and my husband had the smothered pork chops and we have zero complaints. We were treated well and ate good and that combination is exactly what I look for and so hard to find! Great job Mrs Kisha and team! We will be back! read more

This food was amazing along with the customer service. I was waited on by the owner that answered questions and was very pleasant. This woman never misses! She be in that kitchen cooking her you know what off. I just get so angry with her customers though because they eat up all the sides I be wanting to try. They're so greedy! I forgot to take a picture because I was too busy maxing. I barely got the container out of the bag. The presentation was dope too I hate when restaurants abuse my food and it be looking all beat up when I open the packaging. You can tell that at KISHA's Kitchen they plate with care. Since I'm a professional eater it is my duty to eat good. I am truly satisfied with my Boo Kisha! Lol (she don't even know me). read more

THIS IS SO SAD. i will never go back to this unprofessional place of business again , my daughter eats here a lot , she said the food was good , so i went here to support a black business for black history months , upon arrival, there were no one in the place no one ask me can they help me , or nothing , young lady sitting there of course, looking down in her phone ,ok that was no problem , because I was still looking at the menu, so I decided on getting the pot roast. It comes with two sides. I wanted 1of my sides to be dressing , but I was contemplating about the dressing because I have had some bad experience purchasing dressing from soul food restaurants... So I asked the young lady, if I could have a very small sample of the dressing... remind you people we are talking about dressing not sure ribs not oxtails , but a small pinch of their dressing, She looked at me with a very nasty expression on her face Blakely said no... I was fine with that... So I stood there, still contemplating should i just blindsided purchased a meal I decided not to ,I said to the young lady thank you and have a good day and exit the building , before i could get home from getting my dinner from another restaurant, This lady had we on facebook and talk about my experience in her restaurant... Making me look like as if I was baking for a whole meal it was embarrassing. It was unnecessary and it was very unprofessional. Where do they do this at what kind of business person is this I would never go to this place of business, and I would not recommend it to anyone. If you go there, please don't ask for sample or say anything out of place because she will put all your business on Facebook. now she threatening me wow this is sad read more

First time trying. Delicious. Ordered Mac, greens, sweet potatoes, catfish, fried chicken. Everything was delicious. I did have the catfish and wings plain without sauce. The catfish batter slightly spicy but good. The honey hot sauce on the side was really good. read more

I tried this place on Sunday all I can say is the food was delicious. I had the baked chicken with corn bread dressing and candied yams. The food was hot, fresh and I will be going back next week. Awesome fast service! Try it you will definitely love it!! read more

I love this place, the owner and the staff are great. The food is delicious. I highly recommend you try it.

No flavor. Only thing that was good was the fish. I won't be going back at all. The green juice made it soggy anyways.

Good food! Recommendation: Mac and cheese, wings, banana pudding cake, and banana pudding cup.

My brother and I did not enjoy the food from this restaurant. The wings were okay, but were soft from the sauce (buffalo lemon pepper) which did not have much flavor. I had the honey hot sauce catfish, which was more sweet than spicy, and that does not go well with fish. The sauce also got over the sides so both my Mac and cheese and greens were sweet, which was not enjoyable. Now on to the "krack and cheese" with a name like that, I was excited and was disappointed. The Mac and cheese is not tasty at all, the Mac and cheese at Food on the Run is WAY better. I would not go here again. I will say they have good service, they were out of a side and called to tell me, but otherwise I will not be back. If you're in this part of Chicago, I'd recommend Food on the Run instead. I hope this restaurant will make some changes to the menu. read more

I arrived on Sunday September 24th to try the food. When I got there they said it would be 1hr wait which I was fine with that 1hr turned into over 2hr wait which I think is ridiculous. People that came after me received there food before mines and the owner came out and said that the tickets got mixed up and that she was just grabbing tickets just trying to fill orders because the cashier was sick and had to go home. The tickets do have numbers on them so even if they did get mixed up you could have put the numbers in order just saying. She could have at least offered a free piece of cake or something for the inconvenience. Most of the food was good that I ordered I didn't care for the collard greens or the dressing. The chicken , beef short ribs and pork chops was good was not able to try the sweet potatoes because they ran out. She needs to just figure out how to handle large crowds of customers and she will do very. read more

They gave a whole lot of pot roast. I would order again but I'd need way more rice and gravy. Mac tastes homemade(I know they used eggs and milk, lol), it's decent but if I really think about it...chic fil a and Popeyes is better. Sharper cheese. Greens freshly picked and real turkey tail pieces in there but only okay flavor wise. Might be bomb with hot sauce. Green beans tasted canned. No potatoes as advertised. Also vegetarian cause no smoked flavor. Pork chops were okay, not nasty. Overall, it was decent. I'm gon eat it and I'm not mad or anything. Pot roast was the best tasting thing. But ain't gotta go back. read more
