SoulCycle SoHo was my original New York studio, so after it closed, NoHo felt like the right place to leave this. I have been riding with SoulCycle for about a decade, with roughly 250 classes across different studios, and NoHo has a lot of what has kept me loyal. The location is excellent, the studio is always clean and bright, and the ride room itself is big, open, and high-ceilinged. That extra space really matters. SoHo had incredible downtown energy, but the basement locker rooms were tiny, and NoHo gives you much more breathing room before and after class. It still has that New York SoulCycle charge, just with a little more room to settle in, change, reset, and actually enjoy the full experience. I took Ariel's class last August and had a great ride. One of the coolest parts of watching this community over time has been seeing front desk team members and riders grow into instructors, so shoutout to Ariel, Sophia, and Yavuz. I was also a longtime Akin and Yavuz rider, and I remember Yavuz before he started teaching, so seeing that path evolve into the AARMY program has been awesome. One of the things I appreciate most about studio cycling is how accessible it is for people of all fitness levels. It can be incredibly difficult if you really push, but it also works for group fitness rookies who want structure, music, coaching, and a way to build cardiovascular and muscle strength over time. Studio cycling was my first real group fitness format back in 2007, and nearly 20 years later, SoulCycle still gives me that reset: clip in, ride hard, clear my head, and leave better than I arrived. I am in Philly now, and I think the studio location here is awesome too. Life and budget have kept me from riding as much recently, but I still think about these classes with real gratitude. Getting to a 6am class can be rough but nice to get a workout done early! Good instructor who tried to keep the energy going. As most studios expect to be crammed in with bikes close together. It's a mad rush to the locker rooms after. Luckily they have a few showers. The showers are equipped with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and face wash. Came for a class over Thanksgiving weekend and the studio wasn't packed at all, since a lot of folks went home for that holiday. There are ample lockers and showers (~7) in this location. The facilities are decently kept, with towels restocked promptly after classes. I took a class with Roxy and she had great energy, even with a more intimate class. She ensured to call out people's names during class to keep spirits high. Staff here is just okay, but helpful nonetheless. read more

I've been to spin classes at my gym before and was always a fan. My friend got me and my husband a SoulCycle gift card as part of our wedding gift - and glad we got to try! I went to a location in Long Island before and as much as it was a good workout, it didn't give me the full "SoulCycle experience" since there were only 10-15 people in the 10am class? We went to the NoHo location at 9:30am and it was PACKED. Obviously there's less AC blasting and more BO in the air, but this was def the experience I was looking for. The music was great and motivated me the entire class, the instructor knew how to push us all, and everyone was hyped up and giving it their all. The locker room/showers are great with everything provided - towels, shower amenities, hair dryer, and even hair scrunchies if you forget! I've only been to two classes but sprints/high cadence is def the norm here and endurance/strength takes a back seat. Is it worth the price tag? Kinda worth it with the beginner bundles they offer, but I personally prefer my gym with the variety of sprints and endurance classes. Again, personal preference, but I can def understand the hype. read more

I love how the classes here are always super popular, so you truly get the full SoulCycle experience, compared to some other locations where classes only have 15 people max. Instructors here are always great, but my faves are Cam, Maddison, Lo, and Victoria. I'm a big fan of all the themed rides here, especially the EDM rides! Definitely recommend buying your own shoes if you're serious about riding, otherwise the rental fee adds up quickly. The locker area is a bit cramped though especially during prime times so it definitely gets hectic. read more

It's SoulCycle! This location was very convenient to the apartment we were staying in whilst visiting New York, which I appreciated. Since New York is the home of SoulCycle, I felt I had no choice but to take a class! Since I was new to the studio, the front desk employee who checked me in helped set me up on my bike, and helpfully pointed out where the main things were in the studio. The class was one of their first post COVID and it was pretty cool to see the amount of enthusiasm and excitement that everyone had. They have earplugs at the front desk, which I used. The music is loud enough to leave you with hearing damage, particularly if you have sensitive ears. read more

I've been doing SoulCycle since about four years ago when I was living in LA. I recently moved back to nyc and I discovered LJ. He teaches at multiple studios but this review is specifically to commend how wonderful of an instructor he is: he leads the classes in a way that address my Being (I guess spiritual in a way) and also physically challenging that leaves me refreshed after his class. Coming to SoulCycle Noho is my favorite part of the week, every week. I live closer to a different studio but I trek the extra distance to Noho for Jasmine. She is hands-down the best cycling instructor I've ever had and never fails to bring a lot of fun and energy to her classes. She is super approachable and encouraging! Not to mention her music taste is incredible, so you can expect a rotation of pop/indie/alternative/rock. Her choreography is a lot of fun, her arms series is more intense (in a good way) than some other instructors I've had, and she motivates me to try my best. Her classes are nothing short of a euphoric experience. I can't bring myself to sign up for any other instructor besides her (although I'm sure they are all incredible!) The studio as a whole: - Front desk staff is always super friendly - Water, towels, lockers, and shoe rentals are included - The studio has showers complete with all the necessary amenities I can't speak as much to the value of its regular pricing (I access Soul through a corporate discount, so it's super worth it to me), but the experience is so seamless and fun I would most likely still attend classes here. My only qualm is with the layout of the locker area and bathrooms (pretty narrow and cramped, gets chaotic between classes), but the lobby area is really nice and spacious. read more

One of my favorite locations! All SoulCycle studios will impress you. They are all clean, wonderful/friendly staff, and bathroom/locker room/showers are all stocked with Le Labo shampoo, conditioner, face wash & body wash/lotion. Everything you NEED post workout is there for you at your disposal! The hair dryers are top notch and dries my hair in no time (and I have a lot of hair!). Amazing instructions that always push you and I call this class a cardio party on a stationary bike that is also therapeutic! Spacious lobby area too so you can have a nice meet and greet with fellow SoulCycle riders! I also love that La Colombe is right across the street for that post SC treat *cough* Oat milk latte! Deep in the SoulCycle scene for a few years now, mother location out in Bethesda so was super excited to get back into the swing once we settled. I took a class with Akin Akman to see what all of the hype was about. I was very disappointed. He states in the beginning that he is there to tell us what to do and if we dont want to listen we can leave (i personally will not leave a $34 cycling class). Hes very intense and doesnt let you stans up in the bike unless your legs are perfectly coordinated. He also only did arms for those who were perfectly coordinated (i was not one of these so I didnt get the full body workout). He was more focused on technique and getting the rythm right than having a good time which I feel is not what soul cycle is about. Instead of leaving his class feeling good, I left feeling frustrated that I didnt get a good workout in because I was so focused on his fancy dance movies. I take soul cycle every week but will not take his class again. I am giving the studio a 4 on this review as it is more spacious than others- but his class is a 2/5 if that. read more

SoulCycle is one of Equinox babies that offers intense spinning classes to redefine your body. If you haven't tried spinning, I strongly recommend to visit one of their classes. You may say "I need to lose weight... I want a tight booty.... I want killer legs..." Yelpers, it starts here and it requires your dedication to make that happen. The people show excellent customer service and are willing to teach you the fundamentals of spinning. Do not act you are a pro on your first visit, because being injured ain't pretty. Melt that fat and get right, not only for the summer, but year round. Recommendation for the classes: - purchase some cleats for spinning, because this will not be your first class. - Purchase some spinning gear, because you will notice the difference vs wearing sweat pants. - Water! One word - Akin. He's impossible to get a bike with but when you get off the wait list, expect to work. He alone would be 5 stars. However my three stars is for the facility. There needs to be more areas to change, at least in the ladies area. Last nights session didn't have air conditioning and instead bad make shift fans and the door open. My sister took 9 months to finally convince me to try a class at Soul Cycle, and I regret not saying yes to her sooner. As a person that does not exercise much, I was beaten to a pulp on my first class (tlc - destiny's child night) 3 weeks ago on the 19th street location. When the class was done, I felt very proud of myself for overcoming it because it was really intense. I felt rejuvenated, as if I had unclogged all of my arteries. Let me tell you that it was so intense that when I came out of the class my clothes were drenched in sweat. It was definitely a work out. A week ago, I went to my 2nd class at this location. String was the instructor, and he was the best! I have been strungover as my sister would say. I can see why my sister loves taking his classes all the time. I love his choice of music (hip hop and r&b), and he really makes you work. He was much harder than the other instructor I had, but more engaging. Nonetheless, I loved his class. Facility was pretty neat, and the entire place smells like grapefruit (they sell the candle they use). It was spacious, with locker rooms, and even a section for filtered water. In addition, the bathroom and showers are stocked with products that most gym places don't have. And if you are sensitive to sweat smells, they do a great job in airing the smell out before the next class starts. The room so far smells clean. read more

I went this Soulcycle location looking to have a good time with my friends. We showed up 2 minutes late and were alerted they had given our bikes away but that they could rebook us. (Which was fine by us since we knew we came late) They got my 2 friends set up on their bikes and then informed me that they had "run out of bikes" because some girl from a previous class had gotten stuck on their bike... which doesn't make any sense. They then told me that they couldn't get her off nor could they attempt to and they also couldn't alert my friends that I wasn't able to take their class. They did offer me and my friends a refund for the class but overall the experience was frustrating and a hindrance to say the least especially given the price of a class. read more

Big fan of this studio! It's in a great location, so it was easy for me to split off from my friends for an hr while took class and meet up with them again! This is also one of the bigger studios in the city, which is always a plus. Don't get me wrong, it gets crowded and sweaty between classes still, just like at every location, but it's very clear that there's more space here! I've taken classes w quite a few instructors at this location, but the one always keeping me coming back is Akin! I've heard such good things about him, so when I moved to the city, I made sure to sign up for his class. Now, I'm a regular at soul and have taken classes w the best/hardest instructors at many locations, but no one compares to him. In my first class w him, I honestly felt like a newbie again, mostly due to my poor vantage point in the back corner (his class is also impossible to get into even when you're ready to book bikes right when they open up, but the waitlist gets you in- albeit in random bikes in the back). He has some pretty complicated moves on the bike and his speeds are very challenging, and my 5' tall self in the back couldn't see exactly what was going on (and most people around me weren't advanced enough to do the moves). I was a little frustrated coming out of that class, but I went back and immediately picked up on what was going on after seeing the moves up close! His class and style are so challenging but SO rewarding when you master it after putting in the work and he makes sure to motivate you to do so. All in all, Soul is so great as it attracts a diverse community of people who strive to better themselves mentally and physically, and the rotation of great instructors who deliver this positivity is so apparent at this location so I highly recommend! read more

If you're looking for a great workout, this is the place to go. Not only are the classes and instructors motivating, the music is great and create an awesome environment for exercising. The room for cycling is really dark so you don't have to worry about feeling self-conscious. I think my favorite part about soul cycling is you can customize your own work-out to a certain degree by controlling the resistance of your personal bike. This is especially useful when you are a beginner and don't work out on a regular basis (or ever) like me. You can feel better about yourself when everyone around you is being super intense and cycling away like it's no big deal. The facilities are nice and the staff members are really friendly, but I would say they are a little cramped for space. The bikes are extremely close together and there would be times when I would accidentally bump the person next to me (oops - good thing it was my friend and not a stranger). The locker room area is good for the most part, but it can get kind of crowded right after a class lets out. I went with a bunch of friends (we got a free first class) and it was a great bonding activity. We took a class with Becca and I would personally recommend it. I would totally be open to doing it again, but am skeptical about paying $34 per class. Seems a bit much for something you can do on your own. read more

I can see some people love it here but it's not for me. I find the soul cycle bikes extremely uncomfortable. I usually do spin at equinox and the bikes there are 1000x more comfortable. The music was good and the instructor was engaging but I'm not into the whole flickering of the lights and the jumps. I'm young but I feel like it could give someone a hard attack. Locker room is way way way to small. and the guys locker room is like across so they can pretty much see you. There aren't many lockers and they are all crammed together. After the class, I had to wait to get my bag out of the locker because there were too many people waiting. showers are tiny. not really a place to apply makeup or do your hair or even get dressed. I love trying new workout classes, but I was hesitant to try SoulCycle because I think it has a very intense reputation. You always hear about regulars who treat it like some sort of life-changing cult and talk about it to the point of the annoyance of their friends. Well, after my first experience at this location, I can say that I'm one of those annoying people! First of all, though the price tag is high ($35 if you include shoes and a water bottle), the studio is spotless and gets you in the right headspace right away. The walls are blinding white, the bathrooms are full of amenities, and they have lots of (high priced) SoulCycle branded stuff to browse and buy. My only issue was that on a cold winter morning, the place was absolutely jam packed. People were crowded in the small waiting area before the class started, and there were no lockers available. Get there early for those weekend classes! Once we were let into the studio, the employees were great about getting me set up properly on a bike, making sure my seat was the right height and that I was wet up with the proper weights. Now to the good stuff - the class. Our instructor was Tomas, who was a last minute switch from the guy on the schedule but I'm SO glad we got him! He had an amazing energy, getting down to the music and even splashing water on us when we were especially pushing ourselves (don't worry, it was in a fun way). Think of a super high energy dance party mixed with a super intense workout class mixed with the positive philosophy of a yoga studio. I haven't sweat that much during a workout in a loooong time, but at the same time I felt like with the great music and energy in the room I could have gone for much longer than the 45 minutes! if not for the price tag I'd be at the Santa Monica location every other day, but as it is I think I can manage to go once in a while and not feel too guilty. After all, for the price of round of happy hour drinks I can get it right and get it tight and have tons of fun while doing it! read more

Last night was my second time at SoulCycle, so Stefie and I opted to try a new location. Noho was easy to book and we were glad we found a class that fit our schedule. It's also a quick dash from where I work- I made it on time! Although I'm still a spin newbie and have issues getting locked into the bike, I had a very enjoyable ride last night. I definitely sweated a lot and today, the next morning... I feel amazing! Our instructor was high energy, and encouraging. The music was uplifting and definitely helped to motivate me to move to the beat when things got tiring. Since I still am having troubles getting in and out of the bike, they have lots of people who are there who can help you adjust your bike and click in- arrive earlier if you're also still struggling with this. Huge shout out and thanks to the helpful young man who dealt with me being unable to get the shoes off of the pedals... The locker area has many lockers, although it's kind of in the middle of where you access the classrooms. There are many filtered water fountains for you to fill up your bottle (trust me, you need to stay hydrated) or if you forgot yours, they'll give you a bottle of water! The bathrooms have many stalls and showers- if you need towels and deodorant, they also have these for you. Really loved it here last night! Overall it was so much fun and I'm glad I got my sweat on with my bestie. We'll be back again soon! read more

I basically cycle (no pun intended! ahaha) between the SoHo, NoHo, and Union Square locations since it's close to where I live. This one is just as good as any other SoulCycle, with the downside being that you have to pay additional for renting shoes and getting water =/ (in the Upper East Side location, it's free since they don't have showers). Regardless, classes are a great way to stay pumped and encouraged to exercise, especially since I don't have a gym membership anymore and I'm sort of stuck doing pull-ups and push-ups at home without any other forms of working out. I had Akin as my instructor, and he's always blasting fresh hip hop music and keeping everyone psyched to ride. Always feel so fresh and good after coming out of SoulCycle! read more

IM ADDICTED AND I DONT CARE. I found Soul over a year ago and it has by far been the best decision I have ever made. This is the only location I go to as it is right across the street from my place. I go about 2-4 times a week. Truly an awe inspiring workout. Every instructor has a different feel and I love that with Soul you can find who works for you and stick to it. The front desk is so nice and helpful (surprised me on my Soul birthday ride and gave me a muffin and took my picture). Since I come pretty often they know me and it feels quite communal. Also since the new renovations I no longer have anything to complain about this studio. So here goes my instructor reviews of my favorites (even though all the instructors are incredible) FAVES: Stevie: Listen! You have not Souled until you take a class with Stevie. I would particularly recommend her Monday 8:30pm class. Yes it is late but it is just the perfec way to get over the case of the Mondays and start your week on the right foot (no pun intended). Her class is great for beginners because she isn't a drill sergeant like some instructors about keeping the pace. She makes sure you have fun and enjoy the experience--but if you are one of her regulars she will push you (Thanks Stevie!). She ends her classes with inspiration and encouragement and even though I sometimes hate her for that final push I leave feeling like I can conquer the world. Karyn: The K in her name must mean kick ass because that is what she will do. I am biased because she is a fellow Tar Heel (Go Heels!) Karyn's classes are hard but you feel and look amazing afterward. The sweat will fall within minutes and Karyn will keep running, keep tapping it back, and force you to do your best. She plays great music and keeps a smile on her face. Take some time to say hi to her when you're done! She'll give you that Southern welcome! Eve: A NEW FAVORITE! Music wise...she is my spirit animal. I am talking 90s hip hop and R&B which you don't really expect at first glance but it is a lovely surprise. I have so much fun in her classes rapping and singing along. Next thing I know the class is over and I am like WHAT THE?! I am glad she is suddenly teaching Noho classes because she does Soul right! So after all of this...why haven't you signed up yet? Update 12/19/04: I am still obsessed and still in love with Soul and my faves above but I have a new addition. Sunny: OMG. She just is amazing! Bringing the West Coast vibe to NYC. She brings soul and love to the bike! Her music is great. My boyfriend and I are always asking for the playlist. She focuses a lot on being true to the resistance and also corrects form if she sees it (I wish more instructors did that). I absolutely love spinning...In fact, some may consider me obsessed, as I do it daily, but it is such an amazing workout that I cannot help but to choose it over the ho-hum elliptical. However, I was used to participating in general riding classes at NYSC, but was dying to try SoulCycle, where they incorporated weight-training into the rides. Well, since yesterday was Easter, NYSC's schedule was disrupted, but SoulCycle was packed with classes, so I knew that it was the perfect opportunity to give it a whirl...or a spin, for that matter (sorry, could not resist the cheesy pun)! I asked some of my Soul-dedicated friends for recommendations on the best instructors and received a list of about 5 or 6. I cross-checked the names with the schedules at the various locations and settled on NoHo's 60-minute Soul Survivor class, which is 15 minutes longer than their standard ride. I had figured that I might as well go all out! For anyone planning to drive to the studio, as we did, there was a parking lot across the street, as well as a ton of street spaces in the area. This location was beautiful with sleek, flawless white decor, making it the cleanest workout facility I had ever seen. The front desk staff was mostly nice, though one girl had a bit of an attitude when we asked her for assistance with the lockers. In terms of the facilities, there was a co-ed locker room with benches, but separately toilets, showers, and beauty supplies for men and women. The bathroom stalls were like little studio apartments, so changing in there would be possible if necessary. The spinning room itself was a dark cave of energy. The only lighting was by candlelight,, and several bikes were elevated a step above the rest. These bikes provided an extremely smooth ride that accommodated the spin shoes that I own. If riders do not bring shoes, they are required to rent them, though the fee is waived for your first time. The teacher, Lauren, lead an adrenaline-filled ride with a recognizable and energetic sound track. She even pumped us up during song choruses by flashing a spotlight on her own bike. It was really like spinning in the middle of a concert; what a blast!! Plus, the weight-lifting part was pretty brief...if you do not count the insane number of push-ups we did on the handlebars! The class was truly a full-body workout that left us feeling ready to face the day. Two things I would recommend are - 1.) If you are already a spinner, take the 60-minute class, because even that flies by, 2.) Make sure to book your first class over the phone for the introductory rate of $20. This might be one of my favorite SC studios just based on the space. There's one studio here, one the size of Union Square's studio. I find that the bathroom is small but as long as you're not showering or changing, its fine. I also enjoy the overall space a lot more, it's a lot more spacious and the bikes aren't on top of each other like UNSQ or Tribeca. Plus there's lots of benches and lobby space to hangout before class. Very easy to get to as well! read more

This is definitely pricey, but it's a workout that makes you feel great. As someone who has a bit of weight to lose, it's a nice environment to be in because the lights are down and you can't really look at what anybody else is doing, or be distracted by how much weight you have to lose in the mirror. The music makes any annoying squeaks on the bike go away and you can just work on you! There's definitely hard moments, but the best parts are when the instructor gets you to look inside of you and think about all the things you can do! I've had classes with Karyn and Olivia, and both of them link fitness to feeling great, not like other classes you go to where the instructors will be like "you'll be so hot and fit into all your clothes" as motivation (which is the wrong type when you're trying to make a lifestyle change). There's free gum, elastics for your hair, and nice face wash in the bathrooms to give you lovely incentive to get to your workout. The only thing that could make this place better is dry shampoo (if you don't wash your hair and just want something to make it look less like you just biked a marathon). Eucalyptus towels would be amazing, but that's me just dreaming now. :) read more

This review will be for those that are familiar with soul cycle. This is one of the bigger studios with a huge amount of lockers and showers. Easy to find as it is right on the corner. They also have one of the largest selection of clothes. If you do go to this studio try and take Madison's class. She is super tough, great energy, and the class is always packed! Wow. I wanted so badly to not love Soul Cycle, because of the price, but it looks like I've inherited yet another expensive habit (it tends to happen in NYC right?). I've been taking regular spin classes for the last 4 years or so, and I already loved it. As a Crunch member for the past 2 years, I've been pretty satisfied with their spin classes and instructors, the vibe is good too. That being said, Soul Cycle to me was definitely a more premium, elevated experience of taking a spin class. I pushed myself so much harder (maybe because I'm paying $35 for it??) than I usually do, to the point where I feel like I've almost had a personal training session (my trainer at Crunch is about $100 a session, and I've heard is the average in NYC). It's just a great vibe in the class, candles, darkness, and really encouraging instructors. Sure, it can seem a *little* pretentious walking in there, but the staff at this location and the 83rd street location were super nice, patient, and friendly. There's everything you need there in the bathrooms, and it SMELLS GREAT IN THERE. Some may not care, but I do. Ok - so the best part. The instructor. His name was Akin A. and his class was the best spin class I've EVER taken. I used to go to him alot when he was Crunch spin teacher, but I think he only teaches other classes there now. His music is so on point, the exercises match the rhythm, and he' so motivating. Oh and it doesn't hurt that he is DROP DEAD GORGEOUS. I mean he's super hot (Google him) so I was ready and willing to do anything he said even when I thought I had no energy left. I've also had Nick Pratly, and he was good, but maybe a little too mellow for my taste (would still go to him again though). While I don't think I would ever splurge on a 20 class set (you save maybe $1-2 a class that way), I think I will make this a monthly or twice a month thing. read more

This is the ONLY SoulCycle location that has classes taught by Danny, Marvin & Taye under one roof (Bonus points to moi for this studio being steps away from my abode). I stalk each one of those instructors around the city. By stalking, I mean traveling to other Soul locations as far as 35-40 minutes away to take their classes. Danny - The reason I fell in love with exercise 3 years ago. My first Love at Soul. The rumors are all true. His classes are like scoring tickets to a Britney Spears concert... he'll be playing it.... only this boy won't be lip syncing. Pure Magic 'n' Joy. If you never met him, try to say hi after class if you can break through his usual riders chatting him up. He's just as amazing off the bike as he is on xoxo Marvin - I never thought I could heart another man in comparison to Danny, but Marvin had something about him that kept me going back...besides the fact I think he's People magazine sexiest man alive. The man oozes charisma, and whatever comes out of his mouth he's not saying just to say, he means it. He inspires by being himself & that can't be taught or faked. I always leave his class with a perma-smile. He has a power. I highly recommend taking Marvin for your 1st Soul class. He loves Newbies & gives them ton of attention & guidance. I'm always jealous of the newbies!!! Taye - Dare I say my new favorite at the moment? She's all about hip hop all the time. HARDEST instructor by far. If your not pushing yourself / keeping up, expect to be called out. If you had your protein shake before class and are having a rock star ride keeping up (not easy to do in her class) she'll acknowledge you got it going on. The best part about Taye is she is amazingly entertaining. The energy the funny sh*t she says...ummm genius. Taye your my girl crush! No need to get weird, I'm straight. Word to the wise, don't sit in the front row for your first class. You'll thank me for that advice later. There is a reason there classes are sold out every week.
