Trying to catch all the local breweries in Salida, CO. Each is unique in their own. Stopped in to check it out; a Sunday, several people sitting at tables and a few at the bar. It's a fairly large interior and nicely decorated but low keyed; nothing extravagant but nice homey feel. We sat at the bar; the place now started to get really busy. I had the Charlie Brown; Pours a thin head on a light brown body. The aroma is mild grain and molasses. The taste has a mild sweet start with a nutty backend. The texture is thin. It has great flavor. Apparently it was the beer for the day since many patrons were selecting it. My other half ordered Zinga Son; a nice Mexican lager; tastes very similar to a Corona but the taste was much more rich and crisp; with a tad German hops and Mexican yeast. And yes a food truck on site for those that are hungry works and co-exists with the brewery. The menu is simple but effective. We did order a large pretzel with a nice German stone ground mustard. Enjoyed our time there! Also a shout out to Abby who handled the steady flow of customers and an extremely busy Sunday. She did it all with poise and grace! Stop in if you're in the area. read more

We've been to Salida many many times and always wanted to make it to Soulcraft, but never made it since it's not in the immediately walkable downtown. We stopped here this time after coming back from Monarch mountain and I'm glad we did - loved the vibes and local feel! Husband and I got a coconut milk stout and fruited sour, both of which were really tasty. They also have food onsite (albeit a limited menu and you can't bring in your own food). They had TVs behind the bar and were playing the Broncos game while we were there. Would be fun to sit out on the patio in the nicer weather! Glad we finally made it in. read more

Ok, if you don't eat here you are missing out. The food is ABSURDLY good. And unique, with just a bit of spice. We had the kimchi cucumber side, which was excellent- a kimchi sauce with fresh cilantro, can't be beat. We also had the ridiculous-ness burger, which was aptly named and so flavorful. The pastrami added some great flavor, plus the special sauce was just a little extra bite. The beer was good- we had the Mexican larger and the juicy hazy ipa, but THE FOOD. Soulcraft Brewing has my soul--and possibly a little of my liver too. We stopped in for dinner on a Saturday, and I'm honestly shocked this place wasn't packed. Do people not know about it? Should we tell them? Or keep it our secret? Tough call. The setup is perfection: indoor and outdoor seating, gas fire tables, and it's pet-friendly. You could bring your dog, your cat, maybe even your goldfish (though I didn't check the fine print). I tried the green chili beer, which I didn't even know was a thing. It's like someone took the essence of New Mexico, bottled it, and added just enough heat to make you respect it. But the real MVP? The coconut milk stout. I fell so hard for it we left with a six-pack. I would've bought more, but I didn't want to seem desperate. The kids crushed their burgers like they hadn't eaten in days, and my husband inhaled his shrimp banh mi. And I mean inhaled. It was overflowing with shrimp, so I'm pretty sure he left no survivors. The vibe? Cool without trying too hard. If this place were a person, it'd be that effortlessly chill friend who shows up in flip-flops and still somehow looks cooler than everyone else. Stopped by here on a quick weekend trip to Salida and glad we did. We had a few different beers, my favorite was the blackberry lime gose. Service at the bar was great, allowed us to try a few different beers before we settled. We also had food from the food truck. This was my favorite spot we hit in Salida this past weekend, because they make damn good beer! Did I mention a dog-friendly patio, fire pits and views of the beautiful snow capped mountains? Doesn't get much better. Soulcraft Brewing isn't located in the historic downtown district, rather off the main drag of State Road 50. They boast a large indoor space with a stage, so it's safe to assume they host musicians and other forms of entertainment. We brought the dogs with us, so it's always an adventure when the pups are in tow. The patio is large and well-spaced out with 4-top tables, including an automatic fire pit at each table. It might not be as cold as we're used to this time of year, but it was nice to keep the hands warm while drinking a cold one. Speaking of cold ones, Soulcraft has 16 beers on tap. The two that I had full pours of were awesome. Centi-mental IPA and Bon Ton Brown. I love a good hoppy brew and found theirs to be citrusy, slightly bitter and a semi dry finish. The brown ale was perfect on a cool day by the fire. Malty, chocolate and caramel notes. Both delicious if you ask me! They also serve food, which many people around us were scarfing down. We ate prior and were preoccupied with the dogs. The staff did a great job during a shift change, still bussing tables, starting the fire pits and slinging beer. We had some good beer from Soulcraft! For this brewery Steve and I had two different beers of theirs in which we really enjoyed! One was Komura which was a traditional style beer which had a great flavor to it and was different for us as it's a style we don't see much of. But the beer we liked most was the next one. The Green Chile Ale was so tasty that we had two servings of it. We love chili beers but sometimes as we've gotten older some of those chili beers get too hot for us but that wasn't the case here at all. It had a good bite with a bit of heat without us getting the heartburn later! read more

My wife and I visited Soulcraft in Salida last week and were absolutely appalled by the level of service here, or lack thereof. We sat at the bar for a full 10 minutes before the bartender even acknowledged our presence. It was clear that this individual was angry and annoyed with us from the moment we walked in. Over what, I am not sure. My wife is an extremely outgoing and nice person and this person was dead set on creating a bad experience from the get go, mocking us during our entire visit. Despite making eye contact with us multiple times and no acknowledgement (then quickly looking away), they proceeded to help another customer close their tab at the point of sale system before they stooped down to walking over to us. When the bartender finally approached us, they did so without a greeting or even a hint of friendliness. Instead, they barked in the most condescending way, "What're you drinking?" My wife was visibly uncomfortable with the bartender's abrupt and dismissive attitude. To say the service was poor here is an understatement. We have never been treated so rudely trying to check out and support a small brewery before, never again. If you're looking for a brewery near Salida, please do yourself a favor and drive the 5 minutes down US-50 to Elevation Brewing. The staff at Elevation are friendly, welcoming, and genuinely happy to serve you. I'm telling you, do not come here. Looking at other reviews, it seems other customers have had run-ins with the staff here. read more

The Smashburger was the best we ever had! My boyfriend is pretty gluten sensitive, but he ate the regular bun anyway (expecting to pay the price) and did not get sick! Bread, homemade pickles and the meat on the burger were excellent. The bar tender gave excellent service and town touring advice. My boyfriend got a stout, can't remember the name of it, wasn't the milk stout, but it was excellent. We loved sitting on the patio. It was July and very pleasant outside. This is a good truck/trailer that appears to be a permanent fixture. You order and receive a buzzer. There is indoor and outdoor seating. I will say that inside it smelled distinctly. I am not familiar enough with brewing to pinpoint which grain, but had a bit of a barn smell. The burger was pretty good. I ordered it rare and it definitely was not. The fries were really good. Someone with me had the corn fritters and they were tasty too. I don't think the food would bring me back but the setting if you want a brewery would be a good choice. No care in the world. Who wants to drop their pants and pee in a restroom if a spider can crawl up and bite your unmentionables? Lawsuit waiting to happen. I love this brewery. Right off Hwy 50 Soulcraft has a a big building with plenty of parking. Great drink-alble beers! I loved the Cherry Lime Sour the day we were there and the Mexican Lager is always refreshing on a hot day. They have a big space and a food truck that is there most days. Bathrooms were clean, the space was open and had a stage (which they seem to have live music quite often). Just a nice vibe with good beers! read more

Seriously good beer is a fantastic Colorado town. A nice variety of choices amount the beer. Lots of spaces indoor and on the patio. A good bit of dogs hanging out too. There is a food truck attached to the patio. I didn't eat there, but they had plenty of business. I love brewery staff! They are consistently friendly and seem to enjoy the work they do.
