Found this place on our way from Durango to Denver. First time here. Came on 6/12/26 for lunch. It is a small building. All outdoor seating. Just be prepared for that. Weather may not be favorable. You order at the window and then they'll call your name. Looks like they have hamburgers and sandwiches. We ordered corn dog meal for my kids and then a classic cheeseburger and then the double Rocky Mountain burger. Everything was so delicious! The fries were awesome. Definitely recommend and I will definitely be back when driving through. Parking could be tough but there are spots. Thanks! read more

Holy moly was the food giant and delicious. Going home from ice climbing, hubby and I were starving. The hunger shack is a take out window, but they have a cozy heated room to sit and eat in. The giant pile of food that arrived was overwhelming, but I managed to eat nearly the whole sandwich (and barely made a dent in the fries). I can only speak to the fries and ice cream, but I can speak very highly of both. The fries are perfectly crispy and seasoned, and the ice cream really hits the spot (even on a cold and windy day). COVID things: the outdoor windows and seating make this place feel very safe and easy. read more

Oh my!!! Great decision to stop and grab lunch ( passed it and turned around to go back) . The line was a bit long and you have to have a bit of patience but the food is definitely worth it. They serve all sorts of BBQ choice.... Ribs, pulled pork, brisket and all the bbq sides..... mac and cheese, cowboy beans, fries , onion rings. There are also several sandwiches to choose from.... Rueben, steak, poor boy,Philly and more. We ordered a cheddar cheeseburger and added grilled onions and Hatch green Chili's. The burger was juicy, and very flavorful..... grab a lot of extra napkins! Lol... no, really! : p We also ordered the smoked walleye sandwich.WOW was it good! Fresh fish with the perfect smoked flavor and smeared with a great house made sauce. Both the cheeseburger and fish sandwich were served with fries and a drink. The fries are yummy.... Crispy and seasoned. There are also choices of hard ice cream and floats. Stopped here for the first time and now we plan on stopping here every time we travel this way! Wonderful food, amazing service. This place is either really good or excellent when we come back from Vail, they're relatively quick but their quality is amazing. Super hot, tasty, seasoned food, the fries are incredible, chicken strips, Reubens, and burgers are so good and they have soft serve and ice cream too with bathrooms nearby in a separate building. Driving through on the way home to Denver, we stopped here desperate for something to eat. We didn't expect much in this little town, but boy did they overdeliver! My husband and I split the Reuben sandwich--a favorite meal--and it just might have been the best Rueben sandwich we've ever had. Thick slices of pastrami on hearty slices of rye, generous (but not overdone) portions of sauerkraut and Russian dressing. There's nothing worse than a dry Rueben, and this was anything but, and it was grilled to perfection. The fries were great: crispy on the outside, tender in the middle and well seasoned. We finished with a monster soft serve twist cone, which is a childhood favorite you can rarely find these days. The gal at the register was adorable and couldn't have been nicer. Stopped for fuel next door and decided to try this place. Great Reuben sandwich! One if the best I have ever had. This sandwich smokes the Blackstone Reuben in Omaha. It is a little messy (but in a good way)....The only change I would make is to have it cut in half to be able to manage it better. Crispy fries also a great accompaniment. Keep up the good work. Stopped on our way back to Denver. It was either Hunger Shack or gas station food. I am so glad we went this route. We ordered a cheeseburger and a veggie burger with fries. my husband and I used to love to stop by for food and ice cream, but this summer, their quality was way off especially for the prices being so high. it was just ice cream this time. I got mint chocolate chip with just 3 chocolate chips throughout the whole entire scoops.When I complained to the girl at the window, she could care less! She wouldn't do anything about it. I guess they don't need our money that bad, we can get our ice cream at the grocery store. I can buy a whole 1/2 gallon for a price of one of their cones. I mean they give you a good serving but if there is no chocolate in the mint. Yuck! This was such a bright spot on our trip!! We stumbled upon it on the way from Great Sand Dunes National Park to Breck (it's pretty much half way between the two). Our whole family raved over what we each ordered and all loved the fries! The trout BLT was delicious!! There are yummy burgers, and the shaved prime rib was perfect. I saw the corned beef for the reubens come off the smoker, and I'd be really tempted to get that next time. We met the owner, who was so kind and loves doing what he does.
