What a wonderful find! From the moment I walked in, the service was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the food was absolutely delicious. Being from Maryland and a seafood connoisseur, I was especially happy to see whiting AND perch on the menu, along with such a wonderful array of soul food choices. The fish was fried perfectly -- crispy on the outside, flaky and tender on the inside, and definitely not overcooked. Even better, it wasn't overly seasoned or salty. Just right and tight! And honestly, I found this place almost by accident. I was nearby when I heard the R&B playing through the speakers and felt like I was being summoned by the soulful sounds. What a gift to have stumbled upon this spot! Tiera and Renetta took great care of me and made me feel genuinely welcome. The atmosphere was bright, clean, comfortable, and reminded me of home. Went to the Westheimer location for dinner last night. The place was not full, but was somewhat busy. There's a lot of waiting at the counter to get someone to help you. One of the staffers explained that they were still on their soft opening, so the food would take 20-30 minutes. That's isn't too long to wait for food, so we had a seat and waited. An hour and a half later, our food still wasn't ready. They only called our number eventually to tell us they were out of some of the sides. We waited as long as we could but had to leave for a show. Left with no food and no store credit. Hope they get the kinks worked out! It should not take 90 minutes to fry some shrimp. Enjoy the $55 plus tip I donated to your business, I guess. read more

I've tried patronizing this place twice in a row and have yet to experience anything. The first time I went they were out of everything I asked for, shrimp, dirty rice and greens. I was told by the young lady in the front that I should come back tomorrow before 4pm they would have everything. Today me and my family decided to try this restaurant after church, it was highly disappointing. I spent $100 and waited 50 minutes just to get flavorless food. Rice overcooked/gummy, greens/cabbage was more of steamed and served, the mac & cheese super dry and made with cheap cheese, yams taste like they came from a can and allspice was added, the pork chops were old and gravy added to them, the turkey legs were cooked with gravy added over them, cornbread is simply jiffy mix, the banana pudding was spoiled and was still sold, the spaghetti was simply meat cooked with bottled spaghetti sauce and add to the noodles and that catfish had a super fishy taste. The only decent thing was the drink and pralines. This is not homemade soul food and you can tell, nothing is made from scratch or made with love. My wife had a hankering for shrimp and we wanted to try a new place...new to us....they've been open 2 years at this brick and mortar location and they have a few food trucks. The Monday thru Friday lunch special fried shrimp and a side....wifey picked fried okra....both were tasty. I went with an Angus cheeseburger with a side of sweet tater fries....the Monday thru Friday lunch special burger can be loaded....yes please! Lettuce, tomato, cheese, onions, pickles and grilled jalapenos. The first time I stopped by they had just run out of chicken, so I decided to come back another day. The second time, I came in after work one evening to grab something quick and delicious. I can say that Soul Goode delivered on both counts! The ambiance was comforting and laid back. I had a few questions about the menu and the staff was helpful. The restaurant was quiet and empty when I arrived, however soon after I ordered business started picking up. I ordered two dinners. The first one was the Fried Yard Bird with Green Beans and fried okra. The second plate was the Smothered Chicken with Mashed Potatoes and Yams. I enjoyed both types of chicken but will give the edge to the fried yard bird. It was fried just right and gave me the feeling of a home cooked skillet of fried chicken. I could almost smell my mom's kitchen when I opened the to go box. The green beans and fried okra didn't disappoint. The cornbread was on point! That was the best cornbread I've had at a restaurant in a long time. It tasted and felt freshly made. The mashed potatoes were great. The yams were so good! They are a must try! Overall I devoured everything I ordered at Soul Goode. This has to be the best soul food restaurant I've tried in Pearland so far. Amazing catfish!! I've been to both the food truck on Westheimer and the brick and mortar in Pearland. Both did not disappoint. Catfish in both locations was hot and fresh and fried just right. This place is smaller, but we felt comfortable. They do bring the food and drinks to you and you must clean up after yourself.(as you should!!!) The catfish was fried to perfection, it wasn't over seasoned and it was fresh. The spaghetti was good, it had just enough sauce and the cornbread had the perfect amount of sweetness. If you get the opportunity don't walk run over to Pearlands hottest spot for soul food. As a Chicago native I was pleasantly surprised to find this place when we came across this restaurant after shopping! We learned they have a popular food truck with the same name in the galleria Food truck park (still have yet to try). This family owned eatery, was truly like being with family. We were greeted and talked to by Dawan who helped us decide on what to get and was genuinely a delight. I got the catfish, Mac and fries I know carbs! Hubby got the whiting, greens, Mac, and yams. The Auntie was so sweet who told us about cooking the food. Inside is well decorated and very clean. So many instagramable moments with selfie walls and photo ops. Our food came out hot and fresh and delicious. Hospitality was A1, and we will definitely be back. I should have been done my review! First I used to visit the food truck frequently off of Chimney Rock and Westheimer so when I heard they opened in Pearland I was thrilled. I will start by saying the spaghetti is my favorite because it taste very homemade and not plain or bland. The fried fish is also a winner. The cornbread is alllllll that! I love this place! I've had the food truck food at the Galleria food truck mall. Generally this establishment seems to shine with fried goods. I decided to do something different and went with jerk chicken. Perhaps that's where I got it all wrong. I really should reserve jerk meats for the carribeans. This was the driest set of chicken parts I've had in a very very long time. It legit hurt to go down. I doused with sauces and yet I could not revive it. The Mac and cheese was just ok. Thr beans wasalso just ok. The corn bread was average. Honestly my 2nd star was far the sweet lady taking orders and the decebt service. My 3rd star was for the DELICIOUS German chocolate cake . First of all, I grew up on soul food. My family would cook on Sundays and eat till we were stuffed. So I know good soul food when I come across it. Soul Goode is definitely, "Goode". My family and I were in the area as we plan to move to Sienna which isn't too far away. My wife already had Soul Goode on her list of places to try. Though we were mostly impressed with the food quality, I have some suggestions on how the restaurant could improve. When we got there, there was plenty of parking. As we walked in, we could hear modern r&b music that is a perfect theme for this establishment. The playlist was great. It's self seating. There is no wait staff really and it's pretty much just random tables and chairs with condiment holders on each table. What I found impressive was the huge mural paying homage to the south side of Chicago. Being a Chicago native myself, this was automatically a plus in my book. We later found out that this is a family owned and operated restaurant and the family is from Chicago. This place is not very big but there are 2 restrooms, a service station counter for napkins, utensils etc, and a random ice cream cart. You can still sit comfortably without feeling cramped. My wife and I placed 2 different orders. She went first to order the kids chicken tenders, sweet potato fries, regular fries and bottled water. That came out to just over $18. I went up and ordered food for her and myself. She ordered the lobster/shrimp meal with fried okra, mac n cheese and yams as sides. I ordered fried catfish with fried shrimp, yams, and mac n cheese with 2 diet cokes. Each meal came with a piece of cornbread. We also ordered a peach cobbler for dessert. That all came out to just over $76. It took about 15 minutes to get all of our food. We picked a table and went up to order. The cashier basically was our server as well. She brought everything to our table. The shrimp looked like jumbo shrimp. They were perfectly fried and seasoned. Nice and hot. My wife enjoyed the okra and it looked to also be fried perfectly. My catfish was my favorite dish. It was golden brown, fresh, flavorful and presented well with sprinkles of dried parsley on top. The yams were not good to me but my wife enjoyed them. They were swimming in syrup and tasted like a sugar-first kind of recipe. I was not a fan. They did present well, however. The mac n cheese was also delicious. Unique flavor for a classic soul-food-type mac n cheese. I did get a few overcooked pieces of elbow macaroni in there but it didn't demote the dish. It also tasted like there was some sort of msg added and there were a few bites where it tasted a bit too salty. But still really good. Cornbread just tasted like cake instead of sweet cornbread. It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't have missed it if it wasn't on my plate. My wife wasn't a fan of the fried lobster and wasn't really sure what they were trying to accomplish with that dish. The peach cobbler was not ready right away so we got it to go. To me, I think for the prices you pay, the restaurant needs to be a true sit-down establishment with actual servers and wait staff. The poor cashier woman was there by herself trying to serve everyone, take orders and help out in the back. Even though it is optional, I hate the pos payment kiosks that ask for a tip before you pay. Historically, tips are for true wait staff, not someone that just drops your food to your table. Of course, we tipped and we always do but to tip 20% on those prices, you'd expect the experience to feel like it. It's also your responsibility to completely clean your own table. They have signs for this at every table. Would we come back? Absolutely. No question. We enjoyed the food. The place was clean, it has a goode vibe (see what I did there?), and the cashier/server was helpful. I would just suggest figuring out a way to get true wait staff and more help to make the business run more efficiently. read more

Not overly seasoned/salty. They have a wide variety of options to choose from. I tried the peach cobbler and it has a really good flavor, but the crust was different. It wasn't the usual flaky crust. I don't know exactly, but it seems to be cake batter or something. I prefer traditional crust, so it depends on what you like. The dining space is clean and comfortable.
