This was the new restaurant of the week and it's not exactly close to me but I stopped by. The restaurant is in a huge strip mall that's looks sketchy in a stand alone building with a cellular phone store. The have a bulletproof drive through revolving door which speaks volumes of the area. The guy in the drive through seemed friendly. I ordered the meatloaf, mashed potatoes, dressing and peach cobbler. The food was no joke because it was a big portion of heavy comfort food. Nothing was seasoned well and I come to expect this . The whole meal was covered in brown gravy and came with a corn bread cake. The mashed potatoes were like smooth/whipper but had a different flavor that I'm not used to. The dressing is a traditional corn bread style with I think had turkey breast in it. The meatloaf was two slices and very dense like it had very little fillers. The preach cobbler was like a scoop of peach pie jammed in a container, not too sweet and very dense/thick. I didn't eat half of the meal and one spoon of the peach cobbler and 5 hours later I'm still full. I was confused with the small cranberry sauce container but the dressing was like turkey dinner in a lump. I know the area will keep people away but it's never stopped me from exploring a new restaurant and why my Yelp nickname is the neighborhood traveler, there is so much good food in neighborhoods everywhere. read more

Ordered food a little before 4pm and the person who took the phone order said it would be ready in 15-20 minutes. Waited 25 minutes before even leaving the house and arrived at 4:30. The doors were locked and there was a cone blocking the drive-thru even though the business is advertised as being open until 5:00pm. My son had to get out of the vehicle to move the cone. Upon approaching the window the woman just stared at me. She didn't greet me or ask if she could help me. I gave her my order number and she told me the price. I paid for the order and she told me it would be another five minutes. They make you pull around to the parking lot and give you a buzzer. She was very unpleasant and said, "walk to the window when the buzzer go off ". Currently there are four other cars parked and waiting. This place is unprofessional and the staff act as if you're irritating or bothering them by patronizing their business. On top of that my mother was calling and I could hear the phone ringing and they intentionally did not answer. A woman brought my food out eventually and she did not smile, did not apologize for the delay, and did not seem to care. She wanted to see my receipt gave my food and then just stared at me. After a few seconds she said "buzzer "...and I completely forgot i had their buzzer because the thing never buzzed. She just randomly brought out food and had to guess which car it belonged to. The entire experience was terrible and the food was not that great! The price for two dinners totaled $48. That was the last time i will be patronizing this restaurant and I will not recommend this place to anyone either. read more

My first marriage didn't have a lot of positives other than the cooking of my mother-in-law. That generation of African-American women from Southern States made the definitive soul food, delicious mouth-watering home cooking that took the offal and weeds that couldn't be sold at market and turned it into culinary love. That woman was an artist and yet kitchen-wise typical of her subculture and historic period. Does Soul Good live up to that standard? No. But it is authentic Soul Food, tasty and fresh served up with very good service in a bright clean restaurant. And the ex-wife is nowhere near. read more

I REALLY wanted to try this place, specifically because the name,and I was craving. We have been to ALOT if not all Soul food restaurants in the past and Ill tell you..from the get go..I was not thrilled with the closed/rolling? window or having to get out of line and park over there,The woman at the window was super nice! When we got our food I could not wait to eat it,try it and decide if we would ever go back. I can only say this : We have been back several times! The food was SO much better then ANY of the other restaurants we've been to! I cant say enough good things about it. Im glad we went,the only thing im not thrilled about is their hours. Wow! This placed truly screwed up my diet and I hated it. I stopped by here for dinner after work. It took me a minute to get there but man was it worth it. I usually get something grilled but this time I saw Jambalaya and took a chance. M'y instincts prove me correct. It was excellent! First of all it was enough for 3 people! Nice sized shrimp! And with it being kinda chilly outside it was very hearty and filling. And the sweet potato pie.... very tasty... If we were staying another night I'd come back again! I came to this restaurant hoping that I was going to get a well cooked meal that reminds me of grandma -but, instead I received food that I wouldn't even give to my cat. I ordered the meatloaf meal with yams and dressing. It honestly looked like wet puppy chow. The dressing didn't have any taste to it and the yams were honestly mush. Never visiting this place again. DO NOT EAT HERE ! I would include pictures of the meatloaf but as soon as the meatloaf hit my taste buds I instantly threw up. I had to get that nastiness out of my vicinity. read more

This placed turned into my go to for soul food. The greens ( they dont taste like grandmas, lol) but they are great. The chef serves his food fresh and hot, cook when ordered, EVERY TIME. Definitely can tell. The ribs are nice and saucey, spaghetti is delicious. this the spot for a good + quick dinner. read more

Had smothered pork chop and my husband had baked chicken. The servings were huge. We had enough to take home for supper. My chop was so tender. And the chicken was juicy and had great taste. The sides were good and very generous portions. Our first time there, but we loved the two girls that served us. They were so friendly and helpful. Loved the place. read more
