The macaroni is soso. I wasn't a fan of the cheese used in it. But overall, I enjoyed my food. I spent 30$ on all of this. The cakes looked delicious but too pricey for me.

The wings were ok and I wasn't impressed with the sticky sauce. The Mac n cheese was a big no and the green beans were missing seasoning.

I traveled through Durham for business and decided to stop at Kale's Kitchen. I've been following…read morethem for a few years on TikTok, watching their growth and all the amazing-looking food they post. So without a doubt, since I was in the area, we decided to stop by and pick something up. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the staff and looked over the menu. We ordered three meals, which totaled roughly $100: fried fish with double mac & cheese (which cost extra), fried shrimp with cabbage and mac & cheese, and chicken wings with mac & cheese and baked beans. From what I'd seen on Instagram and TikTok, I knew the plates were usually packed with food, so I wasn't worried about the $30 price point. I even told my family we'd probably be able to eat off these plates for two days. When we got to the car, I was hyping up the food and told my family, "Let's take a look." But when I opened the boxes, I was highly disappointed. The fish was clearly cooked in old grease--it was overcooked and very dry. The shrimp weren't crunchy and were also overcooked, likely in the same old grease. The portions were smaller than what we expected based on what we'd seen online. Paying $100 for burnt food was very disappointing. I understand that restaurants can have an off day, but please don't serve burnt food with a smile. I would've respected being offered a replacement or at least told before it was handed to me. I genuinely go out of my way to support Black-owned businesses, especially when I travel. I love seeing us win, grow, and represent excellence in food and service. That's one of the main reasons I was so excited to visit Kale's Kitchen after following their journey for so long. I really wanted to have a great experience and continue cheering them on. Unfortunately, this visit didn't live up to the expectations or the standard I've seen them showcase online, and that was truly disappointing. I still believe in what they're doing and hope this was just an off day. I'd love to see them continue to grow and improve, because the potential and passion are definitely there.

It does seem like I'm mixing up brunch and dinner food items though in terms of the flavor profiles. However, the waffles were excellent and the fried chicken had incredible flavor. I'm still not completely sold on the combination but everything on the plate tasted perfect. Highly recommended.

We have been to Dame's Chicken & Waffles a few times at the old Downtown location, once to the…read moreRaleigh location, and now the "new" Durham location. This new East Durham location is a little smaller than the old one, but they kept the brick aesthetic and the same jazz décor; it has great vibes, but it can get a little noisy with large groups. They now have a small parking lot. The new building has charm, although the surrounding area feels industrial and somewhat run-down. One of the restaurant's windows was boarded up, broken glass had spread into the parking-lot entrance, and barbed wire was visible from our table. The chicken is always tangy and moist. I don't know what they put in the breading, but I'm like a moth to a flame to that stuff. The mac and cheese is some of the best in the Triangle. Our server, Lanyah, was a hustler! While there, she had 9 tables, and one of them was a large group of about 10 people. My wife and I each ordered A Classy Hen with a Baby Blueberry and a Peach Apricot Shmear. I liked the Peach Apricot better. My wife got fresh fruit as her side, which was mostly just orange slices. This, unfortunately, is the end of any positives. Because it was just Lanyah, the service was slow, and it appears from our various times coming to Dame's that slow service is the rule, not the exception. Our server said that it was typical to have just a single server, one cook, and a busser--who was not that helpful. Lanyah was still busing some tables and when there was a loud crash that sounded like dishes falling, she ran and checked on it herself. It took her a minute to get us water and then take our order, but it was understandable. She hugged my wife when we were leaving when we told her she deserved better. The cook was doing their best, but it took 48-minutes and 49 seconds to get our order after it was put in...yes, I timed it. One family walked out due to the long wait. There was another male staff member-I'm not sure whether he was the manager, but he spent most of the evening sitting in the bar area. He was not seating people, bringing out orders or drinks, or helping out our overwhelmed server. They were supposed to close at 7:30pm, but we walked out the door at 8:05pm and the large party was still there waiting for their food, with the other man still sitting in the bar. We want to love Dame's, but slow service just overshadows everything else that is positive. Until they hire an appropriate number of staff, we will not be back.

We were all hungry and looking for something to eat. My uncle found this place and he was so excited to try it and the whole family decided to go over and see what it was about. I got the five whole wings that comes with hush puppies and two side sides. The wings were exquisite. They were so delicious now I couldn't finish them all because I didn't realize whole wings meant WHOLE wings BUT I DID MY VERY BEST TO EAT THEM ALL. Moving onto the hush puppies I hated hush puppies until I tasted theirs. Best hush puppies I've ever had in my life. They're better than my families. They're better than cookouts. They're better than everything. They are so delicious. I almost jumped with joy after sitting down in the restaurant. For my sides, I had corn and fries. Their corn is delicious so very good and so are their fries. They're probably my third favorite out of all of my fries from places I've been. Lastly the food I had the very first time I split the strawberry red velvet cake with my father, I almost didn't even let him have his half. The red velvet and strawberry was a genius combination. It is delicious together and it is amazing for a Valentine's Day dessert. I don't know how I didn't think of it, but they are geniuses. When I first tasted it I did cry. I said a few tears from how delicious the cake was. I miss it every day. It is worth the price to me. The service was impeccable. They were all so sweet and nice and helped with any last minute accommodations. Now the ambience was nice. It was relaxing. It made me feel like a place when I was about to get the best food ever. I genuinely believe that this place changed my perspective on some foods which It did. I love this place every time I go to Durham I will go to this place. I will make it my mission to go to this place. This place to deserve so much more love and I really hope they bring one closer to my location, but for now it is a delicacy and a gift to myself whenever I go to Durham to taste their food.

You could literally smell the delicious smells coming from the truck from yards away, and BCSF did NOT disappoint! The food is as delicious as it smells. The chili was multi-layered with savory and sweet flavors, tanginess, spiciness and heat, meaty and full of beans, corn, tomatoes, and fresh herbs and spices. The cool creaminess of the potato salad was a welcome treat to counter the heat of the chili. I received a massive portion for what was an extremely low price. I would have had to pay three times that much anywhere else, for a side nowhere near that tasty. Here's my advice: Go there, eat that. BCSF, fantastic job! I'm a fan!!!
