My car started pulling and shaking and making some sketchy noises right before I was about to pack…read moreup and leave for 4th of July weekend. I've never had to get my own car serviced and repaired before so I wanted to know that I was in good hands. I went on facebook and asked the harbor point group what people recommended for auto repair and the great reviews of scottys caught my eye. I called up scottys and they let me know they were booked for the next 2 days (it was the first) but they said to drop it off and that they would do their best to look at it beforehand. sure enough I got a call the next day with a breakdown of what needed to be done. They gave me an estimate which was HALF WHAT THE JEEP DEALER QUOTED US, plus it didnt include some of the nonsensical stuff they suggested to fix that scottys said did not need to be done. ultimately they were able to get everything done before we headed out for vacation. when I went to go pick it up, they had admitted there was a communication error and that it wasnt ready just yet and that it would be another hour or so. I mentioned that I had just took an uber and had a lot of other things to try to work on and to see if they could try to give me an accurate time estimate. the guy there (isaac i think) just handed me a set of keys and said heres a loaner ill call you! that alone made this a 6 star experience! talk about admitting to a mistake and making up for it with phenomenal service. anywho, i know where ill be getting my oil changed moving forward! thank you guys!

Is 0 stars possible?…read more I went to this place by accident after confusing it with universal auto body (who does a solid job by the way), to get my brakes inspected. After telling me they were going to waive the diagnosis fee, they took three hours to diagnose the problem and falsely told me I needed to get multiple different things replaced, costing over $2800. After telling them I was going to try and get a 2nd opinion, they charged me $180+ just for the diagnosis. I am now getting it fixed at another place for less than $1000. These guys are thieves!

My car is fixed! Thanks to John Perry at #HopeStreetService !…read more The elusive problem? A loose ground wire shorting out the car's computer. Thanks to John for not giving up and having the good sense to bring in someone well versed in Fords! If Hope Street Service isn't your mechanic, they should be! A rare find these days, an honest and thorough repair shop!

I apologize in advance because this review is going to be a little long. Normally I don't review…read morestores or products or services online. In this case, I felt it necessary. The Background, as brief as I can make it. I drive a 2000 Toyota Camry and have since 2003 when I bought it to go to college. It may not seem like anything special. Front wheel drive, no MP3 player, no built in GPS, but it's a trooper. I've driven it through countless blizzards and at least three hurricanes. In my experience, with a good car, it'll take care of you if you take care of it. Which is why the parts inside are probably cleaner than my dashboard! Historically, I took it to a mechanic in my home town or a service center. This time, I had no choice. I suspected a problem with the brakes and didn't want to risk driving thirty miles to a mechanic I trusted. So I had to hope the few reviews I could find for this shop were accurate. And fortunately, they were! I showed up without an appointment, told him my problem (a slight grinding which had just begun the night before when slowing down) and he immediately knew the problem, and it jived with what I had been able to determine on my own, but he took my number and get back to me when he knew for sure. He called me back in less than half an hour to confirm the problem. What really got me was when he said "What really stinks about it is that your brakes are otherwise in great shape." Because of the construction all around hope street, a loose rock had somehow bounced up and broken a brake rotor. They didn't try to convince me there was something wrong with the rest of the system or anywhere else in the car at all. They also gave me an estimate that was pretty accurate (about 15 dollars off) By early afternoon, they'd called to tell me I was all set and I could pick it up on my way home. Ultimately, while it's hard to escape the impression that Stamford construction is delighting in endangering my poor car, at least I know I have a local mechanic I can trust if I need more emergency work.
