Very frustrated I brought my car in for a repair related to breaks and I mentioned that the heated seats were not working. They charged me $225 just to "confirm" that the heated seat was not working, and then said that the parts to fix it would be over $900. If I'd known a repair costs that much, and that they would charge me just for a diagnosis I would have said don't even bother looking at it. I already knew the heated seats weren't working! This is a pretty devious way to make extra money. I won't be returning. read more

Making an appointment to get a simple oil change is not an appointment for the actual work to be started! It seems it is only an appointment to drop off the vehicle. After an 8am appointment, I called 3 hours later, to be told they need more time before they could even try to do the work. Previously we had an oil change done, but had to wait 4 hours in the waiting area and were treated rudely. (I don't think they care if you wait on-site or leave to come back.) My oil pan dropped out from under the vehicle rather unexpectedly and was dragging on the ground - making a horrific noise. I was on my way to an important meeting and did not have time to do anything other than park the Ford and call Mcmahon Ford who provides service. I was in White Plains, NY and they are in Norwalk, CT. After a quick discussion of my dilemma ( I was outside AAA towing radius to get the car back to CT ), McMahon sent a mechanic out while I was in my meeting. He got my keys, fixed the bottom of the car, texted me discreetly it was fine and returned my keys to me. He was amazing and everyone in the Service area was so focused on helping me. I'm going w 4 stars bc Positives 1. they fixed my problem, which my regular mechanic couldn't. ((Check engine light) 2. The young guy at the front desk was very professional. Negatives 1. The woman answering the phone was v snippy. To be specific, she was quick to interject "what?" Rather than listen to a complete sentence. She made it clear that they were really backed up, which is fair, but her manner suggested I should just go somewhere else. I would've **but** I knew other dealers were just as busy. So I persisted. Otherwise I would've given up. 2. They were expensive but in fairness, they solved the problem and all dealers now charge almost 200 or so an hour. It's posted so I can't say I didn't know. I went to test drive a truck. I called ahead of time to make sure the one I wanted was still available and was told it was. When I got there, it was a totally different truck...more expensive. I Did the test drive anyway and decided I would buy it. Went into the office and was told there is now a premium of $5000 over sticker price due to lack of trucks. First off, they should have told me that upfront over the phone, if not then, they should have told me when we were looking at the window sticker upon arrival. It wasn't until I wasted my time driving it that they spring the "premium" on me. When I balked, I was given a "lesson" on "supply and demand" and said take it or leave it. Very unprofessional.... This was an unexpectedly very enjoyable experience. It's unfortunate that McMahon needs to overcome the weight of an industry that has such a soiled reputation as they could not have made this more pleasurable. We identified the car we wanted, a 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid Titanium. McMahon was one of 3 dealers within 50 miles of our home. With our guard up from the negativity of previous car purchases, we called first to ensure that the car would be there before driving 90 minutes. We were connected with Owen Callahan. Having recently retired from a 40 year career in sales, no one has a greater distaste for rotten, inept sales people than me. Owen has shown himself to be the consummate sales professional and he was delightful to work with. Patient in addressing all of our questions, and there were many as this was our first entry into the hybrid zone. We went for a test drive that was long enough to allow both the wife and I sufficient time behind the wheel. It was a totally relaxed experience. When we returned to pick up the car a week later ( due to their doing additional detailing and waiting for our personal check to clear as we didn't finance), Owen spent about an hour with us out in the car showing us the ropes of our new car. And as it was a Titanium package, this car has it all. Indeed his training us on the vehicle only ended when I couldn't absorb anymore and told him we would need to learn the rest on our own, which we are and we've loving the vehicle. We can unequivocally recommend Owen. As we didn't finance, I was all ready to butt heads with Al Berger their finance manager as I anticipated his throwing every add-on to a purchase in our direction- extended warranty, maintenance plan, etc., etc. I was truly unsettled when it was such a painless experience. Yes, he presented all that but with no pressure at all, just easy clear explanations. Indeed, we'll be returning for the application of one product he had presented, that being a car protection application that comes with both exterior and interior warranties. SUMMARY - Our experience with McMahon Ford contrasted with all our expectations and judging from their already high Yelp rating in comparison with our local NJ Ford dealers, it's obvious others have also had good dealings with them. Indeed our sole cautionary drawback - the street behind them (Hoyt Street) is metered parking which we hadn't noticed and it did add a $20 ticket to our purchase price. read more

Very disappointed with this dealership. I test drove a Cert. used SUV, First, the battery was dead from sitting in the lot. The salesman never called me back to discuss the test drive, I had to contact him. We discussed purchasing the vehicle, I had some questions that required a discussion with the owner. Nearly three weeks have gone by and no return followup call. Called called this past Monday afternoon, not available, stepped out for about an hour no call back. knowing the salesman is off on Tuesdays, still no call back on Wednesday. This vehicle has been sitting on their lot since last December, you would think the dealership would want to take the vehicle off their inventory. Zero stars. I could write a novel about my experience but I won't bore you. Time wasting, lying, incompetent, unprofessional crooks. Worst of the story is they COULD NOT FIND MY CAR!!!!!!! The morons sent my car to another repair shop for the estimate (without my permission) or to anyone's knowledge that was working on my day to pick it up after the diagnostic was supposed to be completed. Took them hours to figure out where it was. I left laughing because my other options would have cost me my freedom. Sooo then That body shop closed early on a Saturday and I was unable to get my car until Monday after work. AM I JOKING ?!? Nooo. RUN for you life away from these people. BUT WAIT.... it gets worse. They wouldn't even give me a crappy loaner on their insurance. They wanted me to take full responsibility ... so if in the next 3 days god forbid some idiot hit me ina parking lot it would be my responsibility ?!?! YOU LOST MY EFFIN CAR. Even better ... pretending to be nice the older lady manger steered me toward a muffler shop in Bridgeport. Says they do good cheap work and I should try them... (her way of apologizing- oh wow - how nice??) WRONG. So as I pull in that lot (Monday after work - after getting my car back- after driving another 30 mins)l to not) this man (older - Asian) come barking out of the garage. "Hello, hi. Yes. Whats the problem". I explained in detail about the noise, the rattle and the tiny hole that I found and assumed was the problem .... Wait wait wait - let me backtrack. Ford ONLY course of action to fix my car was an entire new exhaust system. Car was only 8 years old. They blame the salt on the roads!!!! Was like $3,000 because they had to use ford parts. Car worth 7k. I went to them as I was recommended which I later found out was a friend of owners. Scum bags of a feather flock in fancy houses on the real working mans dollar .... something like that right. Soooo the new muffler shop guy hears my 2 minute explanation and says "YOU NEED NEW MUFFLER SYSTEM" I DO IT WITH NON FORD PARTS $2,500" I said no diagnostic ? No putting it over grate or on lift ? Not even gonna look" His response - "no need, I know" and handed me a paper with the estimate. I shit you not he had it printed out already!!! MCMAHON FORD CALLED HIM!!!! Only explanation... Long story short - local mechanic found a small hole and welded it. $225 Absolute disgust. (The exact numbers of fords and the muffler shops cahoots cost estimated. It was high. After dancing around the question for about 15 minutes she went into the "car salesman" speech.... The service department is lackluster at best. My name is in their system three times and they never know which one is the right one every time. Wouldn't you think they would delete the wrong ones and just keep the correct one? My vehicle has been in there multiple times oil changes and they've had to keep it for multiple days. Took my car due to some starter and other electrical issues here (older ford Taurus) after trying out several other shops in Norwalk and having quite poor results. At McMahon they had a very convenient drop off, honest about what they find is wrong and the prices. They aren't exactly cheap... but I haven't found anyone in this area that is. They called me throughout the process and updated me, told me exactly how much things would cost before doing the work, and were an easy pick up. I was also given a ~$40 credit for if I return, which *hopefully* I won't need to. I didn't experience any of the negative aspects listed by the others on here. read more

Zero stars if possible. I called after moving to the area and needing to service my vehicle. I've worked with numerous ford dealerships across the country and have never been treated so rudely by a receptionist. I called at 4:30 on Thursday to setup an appointment and the sour woman who answered the phone asked me if I have ever been at the dealership before. I explained I had not, but that I was having an issue with my car and needed to schedule service. She asked not for my name, not for my number, but the VIN number on the car. You know, the number pinned under your windshield that's hard to read? I explained that I was currently driving and did not have access to it. She said "okay, we'll, I'm here until 6:00 and hung up." I was shocked. Who hangs up?! Why not get my name, make an appointment, nothing. Now, my onboard nav system was frozen at this point, so I decide to call back and ask if I can drive the car right in to just show someone in the service department, since technology issues are notoriously hard to diagnose. Same woman responds, says, "yup, sure, we're here til 6:00, and hangs up." Again. She hung up twice. I promptly called Stamford Ford, who asked my name, took my number and pleasantly got me an appointment on Friday afternoon, no VIN needed. Oh and my car, the whole computer module is being replaced. Find someplace else to take your car! Charged me ~$750 for unnecessary repairs. I took my car here over a period of around 18 months for regular maintenance and things were generally fine. Although the only reason I took my car here is because it was the closest dealership to my office and they would give me a free ride to/from my office (very helpful). I never had an unpleasant experience with the staff, but compared to the previous dealership I went to (I lived in the DC metro area for 4 years) this place is not well run. The staff are less friendly and seem less competent than what I was used to. I did have one particularly bad experience which is the main reason why I can't recommend taking your car here for anything other than oil changes and tire rotations. I made an appointment for July 11th because the emissions light had been on for a few weeks. The mechanics did not have enough time to take a look at my car on that day. I didn't receive any notice until I called in (they told me they would call me back) around 3 pm and asked about my car. I was leaving the next day for a trip so I had to come back to the dealership and pick up my car. I was able to bring the car back the following week and I was told that I needed a new throttle body (I was not really sure what this was). I asked what was wrong with the old one, but the service associate was not able to provide that information, but said that he was sure that I needed a new one. It was a bit odd to me that the service associate was not able to tell me what is wrong with the part, but was sure that it needed to be replaced. He explained that a faulty throttle body could cause stalling and acceleration problems. My car has never stalled in the 5 years I have owned it. To be fair there were very rare and minor acceleration problems (maybe 10 instances that I can remember) which seemed to happen at the end of the day when I was leaving my parking garage after work. It seemed to me that it was more of a transmission problem (but I'm not a mechanic). I had this issue previously checked out by a different dealership a year earlier and they said nothing was wrong with the transmission and they could not reproduce the acceleration problem. In addition this problem had not happened in a long time so I am convinced it was unrelated to the emissions light. I was told that it would cost ~$350 for the new part plus two hours of labor (they charge ~$100 and hour for labor) and the diagnosis charge ($100 just to look at your car when the check engine light comes on) which came to $735. I picked up my car on July 18th and then on July 20th the emission light came back on! When I picked up my car I had been assured that the "problem" was fixed. I am not even sure there was a problem because my car was running fine. I took the car back again and they wanted to charge me another $350 to replace some sensor (can't remember now), which I declined. They waived the $100 diagnosis charge this time, and the manager assured me that the mechanic who had first worked on my car had 30 years of experience and knew what he was doing. My car has been driving fine ever since. The emissions light went off a month or so later and the next time I took it back for scheduled maintenance there were no issues. read more

VERY disappointed with the service here. I bought my car at this dealership which was a very smooth process and have brought my car in for service here twice before this time which was fine. They do not have many service vehicles so if you need one you have to book a week or two out, which is a pain but whatever. This time around I had to bring my car back because it keeps malfunctioning, set to drop off Monday and pick up a service vehicle but none are available (even though it was booked for me two weeks prior). Was told to try the next morning, at 9am still no service vehicle. Told they would make the car a priority and get it done ASAP, didn't. It's now 230, car just went in and no promise as to it being done today. Was told that "we will figure it out" when the time comes if it's not ready by four. My husband and I went to McMahon Ford to see about purchasing a used car as a second car for our family. We had a definite ceiling in price, but were also hoping to get a solid, safe and reliable car - and that's exactly what we got! We worked with Ed Maldonado and Kevin McMahon to find a car within our price range that checked all of the boxes that we require for our family. Everyone was so friendly and helpful - no pushiness, or up-selling; just honest, understanding, straightforward salesmanship. We picked up our new old car this morning, and could not be happier. The car we bought was originally purchased from McMahon and has been serviced there throughout it's 7-year life - and looks and drives like a new car. It has been maintained beautifully by their shop - and we will continue to bring it there! It's also worth it to note that my brother bought a used Ford Explorer from McMahon Ford in 1999/2000 when his twins were born. They are turning 16 next year, and are currently learning to drive in that same car! I don't remember how old it was when he bought it, but 16 years later, it's still running strong! I bought my 2012 Ford Fiesta back in August 2011. At first the service was good. Oil changes, nothing major. Then a few months into having the car, my key fob stops working. I change the battery and still nothing. I take it to the dealership and they want to charge me to even look at the thing! They tell me there isn't anything they can do and I would have to drop $180 to get a new key made. I asked for valet-style keys or a key without a fob and the man, Peter, told me they do not make them. After doing some research, I found out they DO. After speaking with Denise, I was able to get two free keys, but nothing was done for my malfunctioning key fob. Fast-forward to now, October 2015...I turn my car on and I hear this weird clicking noise coming from my glove box. After doing some more research, I find out that it could be the air recirculation valve aka the Blend Door Module. I call up Ford and lucky me gets Peter again...When I tell him what's going on, he cuts me off and tells me that it's "probably the Blend Door Module, but we need to look to find out." I said okay, how much will that cost, he said an hour of labor. I said and that is how much? "$118, PLUS the up to 10 hours of labor" Up to 10 hours?! That's insane,but I'm no mechanic. Regardless, I asked him if it was covered under warranty and he said no (turned out I have the 3 year warranty). He was so rude when I talked to him, and every time I've ever gone into Ford he always has some issue. I felt rushed on the phone and will most certainly not be going there. The part is $30 and can be done relatively quick. No need to pay $200+ at the dealership. Never buying a Ford again. read more

The two people working in the service department seem more concerned pushing around the many papers on their desk and printer that they have to, "staple" together - than actually assisting customers. Neither of these two gentlemen are welcoming or even nice. They are both grumpy and well, rude actually. They speak "At" you as though they are having to re-tell you something you should already know. Ha! They are the customer service agents - and are NOT customer service orientated.
