As stated in another review Joe is extremely well-trained and skilled at diagnostics and auto repair. Although they are foremost BMW and Audi experts, they can easily handle any make/model. They love working on Italian cars, btw. Agree that they are a hidden gem for auto repair! They are very, very trustworthy; repair estimates and costs are always very fair, if not under the market. I love these guys and recommend them highly. We own 5 cars and they service all of them (Toyota, Honda (2), Fiat, Subaru...Volvo and Ford in the past). You will not be disappointed. I called up scottys and they let me know they were booked for the next 2 days (it was the first) but they said to drop it off and that they would do their best to look at it beforehand. sure enough I got a call the next day with a breakdown of what needed to be done. They gave me an estimate which was HALF WHAT THE JEEP DEALER QUOTED US, plus it didnt include some of the nonsensical stuff they suggested to fix that scottys said did not need to be done. ultimately they were able to get everything done before we headed out for vacation. when I went to go pick it up, they had admitted there was a communication error and that it wasnt ready just yet and that it would be another hour or so. I mentioned that I had just took an uber and had a lot of other things to try to work on and to see if they could try to give me an accurate time estimate. the guy there (isaac i think) just handed me a set of keys and said heres a loaner ill call you! that alone made this a 6 star experience! talk about admitting to a mistake and making up for it with phenomenal service. anywho, i know where ill be getting my oil changed moving forward! thank you guys!

After telling me they were going to waive the diagnosis fee, they took three hours to diagnose the problem and falsely told me I needed to get multiple different things replaced, costing over $2800. After telling them I was going to try and get a 2nd opinion, they charged me $180+ just for the diagnosis. I am now getting it fixed at another place for less than $1000. These guys are thieves!

We have both subsequently been to Shippan a number of times, for various amounts of work, including a clutch on my wife's Subaru, and Tony has been consistent with quality of workmanship. No job too big or too small. For me, the most emblematic occurrence of why I will continue to use Shippan's services, was one time, the tire prices weren't a mega value (on the specific tire I wanted), but even though they were not particularly overpriced, Tony still said something along the lines of "I probably can't get the best price on these." I gladly paid the minimal difference from some chain business, where I'd have been dealing with a new person, each time I called. Another huge good sign (at least for me) is beings told that I don't need to get (whatever service) done yet, despite it being lucrative for the business. Just simple integrity-and not treating customers like an annoyance. We look forward to continue having our cars serviced at Shippan! They did a complete check on the vehicle. They checked spark plugs, compression, fuel injectors and even removed the catalytic converter to check if it was clogged.
