It will take you ages to choose from the menu of delicious and imaginative meals, 'specials' blackboard, and salad bar - we took quite a while! Only organic, fresh, natural produce is used and, in addition to the hot meals and salads, there are cakes, fresh fruit juices, teas, good coffees - and also wine! Even the most hardened meat eater will find something tasty to tempt him here, but for vegetarians (or even vegans) there is a wonderful choice which is difficult to find in most other cafes or restaurants. As if all this weren't enough, the staff are lovely, friendly and most helpful. Everywhere was very clean and well looked after too. There is a very small toilet upstairs and a larger disabled one down. Lunch is from 11.30am to 3.00pm; drinks and snacks from 9.30am to 4.30pm; the wholefood shop downstairs is open from 9am until 5.30pm.

One of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Served with a choice of either fries or chunky wedges (think roast potato wedges and you'll get the idea). The cafe makes its own hot sauces and strawberry jams, all of which you should try if you get a chance as they're all scrumptious. You can even buy jars of the sauces to take home. Service is warm & friendly and you're made to feel incredibly welcome the second you walk in the door to the moment you leave. If you're on the lookout for something a bit more genuine and satisfying than what the nearby commercial chains can offer this is the place!

What a beautiful place! Magical…read more Stumble on it as you travel from Carmarthen to Cardigan just after Newcastle Emlyn. The shop/cafe is right on the road guarding the entrance to the car park next to the falls by the bridge. Have a full breakfast and ask to take your laden plateful down to the waters edge or use one of the picnic tables nestling in the wooded slope. The food is cafe style - straight forward - coffee is instant so don't get too exited by the idea of a Costa style Americano - this is getting back to nature stuff. Either pay £2 for the car park here or scoot round to the other side of the river and turn down the road by the Three Horseshoes Inn, hoping to find a free car park space down on the right (if lucky as only a few)- absolutely gorgeous spot frequented by salmon fishermen and happy watchers. Get your walking boots on and tramp upstream if the fancy takes you and you have more time - or just laze around for a bit and then head off to Cardigan (maybe stopping at Cilgerran Castle for spectacular views over the gorge). A couple of other spots in the village might be worth poking your head around, like the pub and the local antiques center and nearby cheese factory, again if you have time. Recommended location. We were heading back to London the next day, and at first thought "too bad this isn't on our way home," but the next morning decided we wanted to see more of the park anyway, as well as a few other points north before our weeklong adventure adjourned... What a pleasure it was to stop here on that dreary morning! When we arrived around 10:30am, the whole place was bustling with what turned out to be a tour group of retirees, about to tour the historic adjacent mill. The setup is counter service style: order your items, take your number and choose a table (indoors or outdoors). Most of the indoor tables overlook the brook running through the mill; the outdoor tables are in the courtyard of the mill buildings. They don't have a true breakfast, per se, but they have teas, coffee/espresso drinks, breads, cakes and cookies available all day, most of which are made using grains locally harvested and milled right there. There are some gluten free options available as well. At 11:30, their lunch menu is available and features sandwiches, soup and salads, all made from locally sourced, processed and grown Welsh foods. We were still finishing up our morning coffee, enjoying the chill vibe of the place (especially after the tour group moved on - haha!) by the time lunch was available, so we decided to stick around a little longer and try it out too! After much deliberation about how to best sample their offerings (everything sounded AMAZING), we opted for a soup/sandwich combo with the ham, cheese & mustard sandwich and fresh garden pea and mint soup, along with a "board" that included salad, two cheeses, local ham, an apple, fresh cherry tomatoes, house chutney and fresh bread. So simple, but so delicious!! We ate it ALL... I can't recommend enough the sheer quality of this real, simple but delicious local food. Other items to note: Credit cards require a £10 minimum charge. Locally made gifts and gourmet food items are available for purchase. Restroom entrance is in the courtyard, but there are public toilets in the adjacent building, facing the street as well. Free Wi-Fi. Check out the Talgarth Mill Craft Shop next door if you are looking for locally made Welsh treasures to take home. Free parking (and recycling drop-off) is available a couple of short blocks away, just off the highway. The Talgarth visitor's centre across the street is there for all kinds of information about the area, or, if you'd just like to converse with the friendly locals.
