I had the fortune to attend the Lampeter Beer Festival both this year and last. The event is a non-CAMRA beer festival organised by the Lampeter Round Table. The event is in its third year (I missed the inaugural one). Travelled up by the Traws Cymru T1 bus from Carmarthen. After a long bus ride starting off at Llanelli and the day ahead planned with some real ale action in mind, decided to line my stomach. With that objective in mind, looked for a local cafe to feed up. Stumbled across the Sospan Fach in Bridge Street, fairly central to Lampeter. As a Scarlets supporter drawn in by the name & the colour of the décor, the prices on the menu seemed reasonable at first glance. It looked like a small place on entry but there is an upstairs/second floor. It has a very friendly, cosy & informal atmosphere. On both occasions I opted for the All Day Breakfast consisting of 2 bacon, Sausage, Egg, Tomato, Fried Bread, Mushrooms, and Toast & Marmalade at a price of £6. Accompanied by a plethora of sautéed potatoes in a bowl for an additional £1.50 and a similarly priced quite large pot of tea for one - same price. Huge breakfast was impressed on first visit last year and when accompanied by some friends on the second visit this year they concurred in the quality & quaintly of the size of the breakfast. The cage has other items on offer inclusive of jacket potatoes, toasted sandwiches, Paninis, pancakes, puddings cakes & beverages. The service is quite quick and very friendly/accommodating. In all a pleasurable experience. read more
