The setting is lovely, so it's a shame that the pub is so let down by slow service and dreadful food. We ordered burgers, chicken burgers and steak, pretty ordinary pub food. The steak was cooked medium rare as requested, but came with mushrooms which we had asked not to be included, and it was also cold when it reached the table. The burgers for some unknown reason came served on a vast quantity of dried out shredded beetroot, which was also included in between every layer inside the actual burgers. The chicken burgers were dry and overcooked with barely any evidence of the 'chilli jam' it was claimed to include. The beef burger was so dry that it felt as though all the moisture was being sucked out of your mouth. The food may well have been nice, had it not been cooked to within an inch of its life then left to stand.
Service was mediocre, no cutlery was brought to the table, but we weren't told where to go to get our own either, luckily one of our party had spotted some on the way to use the loo, otherwise we may have been waiting there for it to be delivered, which would have been a long wait!
On the subject of long waits, we waited 40 minutes for our rather unpleasant food to arrive, and at a cost of £46 for 4 people to have lunch, and that's not including drinks, we would have been better off popping down to the burger bar on the beach and getting a burger for £2.50 each.
We won't be going back. read more
